I value achieving something that the women in my maternal line didn’t get to achieve because society at the time (which was much more patriarchal) which expected them to get married, have babies and be a housewife, and if fortunate enough to be a teacher, or a nurse (though once they got married they had to leave these professions). Yet the men had the freedom to do whatever they wanted. As I’ve shared, I’m doing my Masters in 2025, but I’m being strategic by doing one subject per semester, then in 2026 go full time, doing three subjects per semester will be more manageable than four. I liked how you touched on boundaries because this is what I need to do, which is challenging when one is under (financial and academic) stress, which I’ve experienced in the past when at university. I’ve recently bought another book on self sabotage (one was yours) called, The Mountain is You: Transforming self-sabotage into self-mastery by Brianna Wiest.
