Thanks. That was very helpful. I run dual monitors (idenical modlels) and occassionally the secondary monitor comes with with a different resolution. It can be a pain to change it back using the GUI display properties as sometimes the correct resollution isn't listed. This should help.

I might get a multi-monitor setup with a Freesync or Gsync monitor in the future. However, Xorg does not support Variable Refresh Rate in multi-monitor setups at the moment. I might have to switch from Qtile to Sway to get my setup working in the future.

Fedora is really good at remembering how something was set up, however simply using an external monitor, that will cause the laptop display to turn off which is what I want, but when I disconnect that external monitor, I have several issues. The boot screen displays fine but once it gets to the login screen, the monitor turns off, and weirdly enough, When I go to shut down, it actually won't power off unless the external display is connected. Even if I switch the displays to mirror with both displays on, when I disconnect the external monitor, I can't power off the system, and I can't see anything on the screen during login. Once I log in, the internal display works fine again. Using x11 by the way

Hi. I have a problem with linuxlite display. I have a pc with 2 displayports. Both are connected, but only one it shows. Xrandr gets me DiplayPort-0 connected and DisplayPort-1 disconnected but it is connected. If I unplug displayport-0, displayport-1 goes connected. It behaves strange

Several excellent choices for arandr scripts 👍
    (a) one time in .xscreenlayout (5:28)
    (b) at boot in .xinitrc (6:45)
    (c) cron tab (7:51)
    (d) display manager config file (9:28)
    Thank you and kindest regards.
    P.s. what about /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/[[mymonitors]].conf ??

I wanted to try Linux out (I use Win11) and I have 1 problem when I try out the DEMO MODES with ubnutu 22.04, pop! os, linux 21 mint, zorin os. I use an ASUS TUF A15 Gaming Laptop, have 2 external monitors (hdmi to a 4k@ 60hz ASUS monitor *works) and USB C to Displayport (WQHD@165Hz ASUS monitor). With Windows 11 it works fine, but with Linux when I try out the DEMO... It looks like Linux detects my gpu and monitors... I try to select this 3rd monitor... try APPLY KEEP CHANGES... but it turns off on slide button and no display. Do I need MONITOR DRIVERS? DO I need to do a ful install? Just won't work in DEMO MODE? I don't know I am quite disappointed and thought things would work. Windows 11 works perfect with my setup..... IF anyone could help greatly appreciated....

I'm facing screen flickering problem. Specially, when I try to play any game or when I use LibreOffice, File Manager, Zoom etc. How can I be sure that my GPU is broken or it has any problem?

-Chris. I appreciate this video and of course thumbs upped it. But, this is a small reminder of why I don't miss mint 19 cinnamon and older versions....having to make and run xrandr script to ensure my display runs at 144hz instead of this crappy 60hz OOTB. 20 cinnamon, just like xfcr and mate have had a GUI settings for Hz adjustment for a few versions now thankfully. I'll keep this video in mind just in case though. Cheers

I just swapped my HDMI75hz monitor to a DisplayPort 165Hz but my system is detecting 2 monitors, is there a way to disable one of them?

Just installed Ubuntu 20.04 and when I went to restart my computer I get to the password screen, enter my password, and THEN when I click enter, the screen suddenly locks with a bunch of horizontal lines across it!! My monitor is connected through a VGA port on an very old Emachines EL-1352G slim computer!! The stock display on the motherboard is a Nvidia set up which is part of the AMD motherboard!!

i have never been this angry in my life, i bought a video card hoping to use 3 screens, but with proper drivers, and aven after ripping the card out and just trying integrated graphics ubuntu wont detect any other monitor. i had all three screens mirror each other but no matter what i do the "displays" setting will only show 1 unknown monitor edit: i have been on the internet for an entire weekend and there isnt a single video or forum that explain how to fix this issue. im ready to kill somebody

Make sure you have a good driver installed and also maybe using prime-select in terminal and selecting your prime hardware driver might help? I use nvidia. You'll need to reboot after that and becareful.

Could I disable dual monitors, reinstall, then set up dual monitors?
