Over 65 years ago, in a whitewashed thatched roof cottage in a lane near the Abbey cemetery outside Ballyshannon in Donegal lived an old lady called Mary who would chase us with her stick & scream at us whenever we walked past. The song Crazy Mary who lived near a cemetery brings back fond memories of my childhood when the locals called the old lady "Winnie the Witch". Poor old Crazy Mary aka Winnie the Witch is probably buried in the abbey cemetery near her home. I hope she found peace there. Derry isn't far from Donegal so I wonder whether it is the same person.
