I've been ogling these pencils for a while! But I'm unsure about whether they'd be worth it. There are not a lot of reviews about them out there. Questions I have about them: how hard or soft are they? I have the Koh-I-Noor Tritones and they are nice and soft, and very pigmented. I'm wondering whether these are the same or not as nice... Also: Are the color combinations well thought out and fun to use, or kind of boring after a while? (The lizard artwork you created with them is really cool! 😀)
I enjoyed using them for this piece, but I did find it a bit frustrating when I wanted to use just a red or green. The core of Magic colored pencils is very similar in hardness and pigment levels to the Tri-Tone. I was asked by Koh-I-Noor to draw something with the Magic Colored Pencils, with a view to the image being used on advertising and possibly packaging, this is why I didn't have a review video to add with this. AS it turned out they didn't need the image which was why I posted the speed drawing. I personally think the magic and try-tone pencils are a bit of a gimmick, I think they are excellent for kids to use, but not so amazing for colored pencil artists to use them. However, this is only my opinion, I am sure there are amazing colored pencil artist out there who absolutely love them and use them a lot, but for me, too much of a gimmick. Thank you so much for your kind comment and for your support, thank you so much.
So fun watching you do this piece 🙂
