McLaren is a team finding its way back to the top and by signing Piastri(which is almost the opposite style of driver to Noris) they are making sure they have a driver to give them that title. Letting them fight is inly logical to figure out who s going to be the one when they're ready. If they wanted someone to bow to Norris they would have replaced Ricciardo with someone else, or not at all.

I generally watch the FP sessions if I have time to get the gist of weekend trajectories and storylines. If I don't have time I hit up the highlights. Sprint weekends turn the weekend from 2 must watch sessions to 4 sessions spread across 3 days in a row. Being on the US east coast every sprint Friday sort of stinks, but I am fortunate enough to work from home so I just take a break to watch sprint qually. In a 24 race calendar I don't know if I need more competitive sessions sprinkled around. Plus unless people qualify out of position in either session you essentially see a preview of how the race will go. Although I do like how they can change their car between sprint and standard qually. That does give them a chance to tweak something for the race. All that said those first couple laps were indeed amazing.
The sprint format is WORSE than FP3 in terms of ruining the _actual_ race. If FP3 is bad, get ride of it. Just like we should get ride of the Sprint race. It's stupid to have two races in one weekend, it dilutes the whole thing.
While I think that in Spain McLaren had the fastest car but I don't think they had it this weekend considering max outqualified the entire field in the closest qualifying session ever by half a second
Max has not only broken just about all of his teammates, but all of his competitors on track as well. Le Clerc had the treatment, Lewis had it after resisting very, very hard and now Lando is mentally cracked by him

Sprint races are good but they should be used as experiments to main race, introduce some extras or else just scrap it because it’s just a mini race which exposes a bit of suspense on which team is faster in race pace

I'm new to F1, why does Lando's DRS wing open after he passed Max? Just before Max retook first place from Lando, Lando's DRS wing opened but it was after he passed Max. I thought you could only use DRS when you're behind? I've only been watching f1 for a few weeks now and I'm a little confused. Can someone explain?
because there are specific detection points at the circuit where it measures if someone is within 1 second of the guy in front, but usually the actual place where you can start using DRS is later. Norris was within 1 second at the detection point, passed Max and still had his DRS open. Perhaps he got to a second detection point while being slightly behind Max still which made it possible for him to use DRS a second time even while being in front after passing.
If you want to see a masterclass of how you can be smart about DRS detection points and using it to pass, watch the 2022 Saudi Arabian grand prix and everything Max & Charles do in that race(breaking right before a detection point so they can use DRS in a clever way instead of passing the other driver already so the other one can use DRS to come back)

Almost out in Q1 for GP, sets a time good enough for P12 on NEW softs...
Why would Redbull want the The team constructors? They really want 2nd in the team constructors to get more wind time. Perez can foot the missing money from 1st.
@@MegaDarkness5000Literally no constructor would prioritize wind tunnels time over their championship standings, it’s not only about sponsors, it’s about recognition and appeal of the team which builds up from winning races and championships
@@lunaticgamer75 ok tell me who won 2021 team constructors?
Think of it this way, what if Oscar wasn't on Lando's team? What if he was in Ferrari. Would you say he lost Lando the race? No... Lando lost it himself. He got overtaken by another competitor. The fact that he happened with his teammate doesn't mean that it's better.
I mean people were blaming George Russell for Lando not winning Spain just because he didn’t let Lando pass him instantly lol
@@deeznoots6241 Yeah... F1 fans lol
Max will arguably be the greatest driver of all time in the future. He is amazing specially when McLaren is the faster car and he’s still taking the win
A car that was overtaken and left behind with drs open . Something s not right .
Although today Red Bull apparently got their form back
"arguably" is the fuel of this comment section.
Happy birthday Matt!!!🎉🎉
I didn’t have a clue what was going on for 2/3 of the race because there was no timing tower
Het F1 tv
I was so lost
Are the commentators that bad on your feed?
@@ronaldvb3663 the commentators tried to make up for it, but they can’t cover everything at once
I use F1TV, everything was fine. I do not watch the normal "global" feed. It's horrible. Like no splitscreens or timing pages or driver maps.
You just hope the director is good or commentary makes up for it. I have no tv, but in Holland F1TV cost less then the extra channel with F1. Thus it's also way cheaper and mutch better.
its getting a bit old with the " should he have won ' , you win when you win, it's not that difficult...

Are we gonna go and make a video on how lando should/could have won every race now? Lol
You can't win from P3 if you can't get passed P2 😅
Lando bottled it again and Oscar capitalised and did great. But now Lando fangirlies are jumping on oscar for ruining Lando's race when he did it himself 😂😂
But oscar did though, race died with oscar chasing even max said
@@paisleymc2Oscar did not ruin Lando's race he maybe ruined the viewers enjoyment. It was not his fault that Lando bottled it and gave him the chance to pass him. Lando needs to start learning from his mistakes because like this he is never going to win against Max. Oscar can't be blamed for Lando's mistakes
@@ChiIIi...Lando didn’t bottle it, Max overtook him and both of them slowed down. Oscar just capitalized.
On the other hand Oscar bottled any chance of McLaren winning that sprint and didn’t even challenge Max at all.
The Lando fangirls are getting super desperate now. How insane to blame Piastri lol
I really don't think you can say that Lando should've won this race. He definitely could've won the race, and probably should've made it a closer fight. But saying he should've won really makes it sound like a Lando victory was basically guaranteed without making that one mistake.
It’s typical British media bias.
Wait a minute ........ to bottle a race win you actually have to lead a a Grand Prix for longer than 750m LMAO!!!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

if oscar let lando through… if oscar didn’t pass max… if my mom had balls she would be my dad. people always shit on redbull for having a clear one two but when mclaren has two competitive drivers they blame oscar for not being a second driver even though he’s clearly not just second driver material. lando fans are becoming more obnoxious than teamlh these days
I'm a Hamilton fan and i like Lando. But Max has him in his pocket. That's just it
He doesn’t have Landon in his pocket but Perez he does. No driver is unbeatable.
Max would beat the field in a lawn tractor. He has everyone in his pocket.
Oscar is a team guy but many believe him to be future word champion, for world champion mentality you need to be selfish and dirty do you think Max, Michael, Senna Alonso Vettel and Lewis would have given up position to teammate. Oscar is as talented as Norris look at monaco (lead driver for McLaren) its his second season no need to make him a wuss.
I was surprised that even on a short track like the Red Bull ring DRS was enabled after just one lap.
Effectively that means that just about everybody has DRS in lap2, except the pole sitter.
And they all still lost. Is DRS now just a gimmick?
@@eden19xx76 That was my point. With just one lap on a short track like Austria before DRS is enabled, the pole sitter is in some disadvantage, as you cannot create any gap yet, before everybody behind you get DRS while you haven't.
do you remember any Lando racecraft highlight? because I don't, guy has speed but 0 iq
Lando had the chance but Piastri was too good
For Lwndo. Oscar was too good for lando
It's so much fun watching these British commentators and youtubers eat humble pie every time!
Oscar shouldn’t have to be Lando’s #2 - look at where he’s at in development. 1.5 seasons into his career and he’s already pushing Lando. If anything McLaren should throw everything behind Oscar to make him the absolute best he can be.
Agreed, Lando has had his time to shine for multiple seasons now. If anything this sprint showed how quick Oscar is and how good his wheel to wheel battles are.
I would say that this is extremely flawed logic. Just my 2 cents.
@@Steve46567 yep. There’s no doubt Oscar has a bit to learn - tyre management being the biggest one. But again - he’s probably 30 races into a 300 race career - guy is going to be an absolute gun in years to come.
Oscar is just not fast enough, and never will be at this stage
Lando: 156 points
Oscar: 94 points
He is getting annihilated in the races. In qualifying and spirits, he's decent in comparison, but anyone who think he's better than Lando just isn't watching the full grand prix or is in serious denial.
I love how the British just assume Lando is the better driver then Oscar don't be surprised if a year from now Oscar is the number one at McLaren Lando couldn't get close to overtaking Oscar and its pretty obvious that red bull hides some performance during the race and they pull it out when they really need a gap . Always remember its wasn't boring when a British driver dominated for a decade but when a non British driver dominated for one year the sport became boring .
Unless Lando has a clear faster car, it's unrealistic to say he should have won. Max is not the kind of person to get beaten easily if he has a say in it. So I wouldn't count on it too much.
Stroll did "ok" in tenth... Alonso in 16th. And I like Alonso a lot as well, but if it was the other way around, they would have TORCHED Stroll like they love to do.
Alonso was shocking yet again
Maybe because stroll is AWFUL!
Only reason he is there is because of daddy billionaire.
@@mordsytheif Stroll is awful than Alonso must be the most overrated driver in F1 history (it’s probably true)
@@paperplane-db8qf the only reason that stroll is in F1, is because of daddy billionaire. That’s just a fact. there are many many drivers that deserve to be in that position more than stroll, but God forbid he earns his way into the seat the way that it should be done

Nah. Lando lost that win for Lando.
I'd have oscar doing great than lando. Lando bottled it Oscar capitalised simple as that.
No lando shouldnt have won because he fcked up and couldnt even catch piastri
The reason we focus on the timing graphic so much is we don’t trust the TV direction to show the important battles, so if we see a battle emerging we need to imagine what’s actually happening since they won’t show it. If the TV direction was good we would be reassured we weren’t missing anything
While I think that in Spain McLaren had the fastest car but I don't think they had it this weekend considering max outqualified the entire field in the closest qualifying session ever by half a second
oops forgot about imola and canada totally didnt suit ur narrative so go full alzheimer
Max has not only broken just about all of his teammates, but all of his competitors on track as well. Le Clerc had the treatment, Lewis had it after resisting very, very hard and now Lando is mentally cracked by him
Lando is overdriving it. He should race with his head more. If Piastri has learned how to manage his tyres better in a full race he will fighting for podiums all the time. I think he will get better and better. I don't see Lando getting better.
Hot take: Lando fangirls are just as toxic as Max and Lewis fangirls.
Justice for Oscar
Tbh it feels like 90% of F1 fans are super toxic/aggressive to other people nowadays I don't understand why...can't we just enjoy the racing?🤷
Well when people make outrageous definitive arguments after 1 race/sprint, people will argue back over it 🤷♂️
@astronomical4763 because they aren't F1 fans. They worship their favourite, and despise everyone and everything that stands in their way
@@phillydelphia8760 oh ofc I just mean like...do people have to make those comments, no way some of them truly believe what they say😂 like for example the hate Lando gets I mean there's no way people believe he's a bad driver
Honestly it's ridiculous 😂
And you are? The Dalai Lama? Justice for Oscar when he literally ruined the race for Mclaren. Couldnt defend, couldnt put pressure on Max, all he did was take advantage of the battle between clearly two superior drivers. Justice in fact for Lando.
If he’d have covered the inside better at turn 4, Max wouldn’t have been given the invitation to strike back immediately after he got passed. But knowing our luck, Max woulda passed him eventually and won anyway. You just can’t beat him.
But they're gonna tell me Lando hasn't made a mistake in a long time but it's almost every other race 😔
Sprint races are good but they should be used as experiments to main race, introduce some extras or else just scrap it because it’s just a mini race which exposes a bit of suspense on which team is faster in race pace
People criticise Oscar for not understanding the tyre management . Now when he watches Lando and Max battling and destroying their tyres people call him not a team player !! Totally unfair.
Lando exit after max overtook him was bad. He probably would have been outside DRS after that. And who in their right mind won't take the chance to win. Oscar did what every driver would do. Lando couldn't even overtake oscar
That mask made me jump 😂 Lando forgot Max got Lewis on the inside in ‘21
The sprint should be driven by Reserve drivers, maybe a way to not let half the f2 champions without a sit in f1

Yes, only scoring the points for the constructors
Doesn't matter who drives the car
@@8tonystark8only downside os reserve drivers cooking the parts by crashing
Orlando needs to come up with new moves to vex max....max is slowly realizing his dominance is over as Adrian exits the team.
What if sprints had a mandatory pit stop like the regular race has? Wouldn't that make it exciting all the way through?
Today Perez showed why Red Bull made a mistake by keeping him. In sprint there was no tyre change but in a normal race they could have split strategy and take the win off Red Bull - with perez being nowhere
If Lando wasn’t able to pass Piastri then what makes people think he would be able to pass Max?
What the heck happened with the broken start followed by a second formation lap? I've never seen that before in over 30 years.
Photographers climbed the fence
I'm so bored of sprint races now, bring back FP3.
What happened with first lights out blunder?- nothing was said regarding it during race on F1 tv. No timing tower was freaking me out- addicted to it, wanted to see if Alex was going to overtake Logan, DR moving up, Charles climbing up rank, where was Perez.
It was something related to the camera people standing in an unsafe place. So they had to have another formation lap.
@@akshatvyas7387and that was said on F1 TV haha
Sky said there were photographers not fully behind the safety barriers at t1
The timing tower was working for the whole race on the Belgian broadcast
Happy Birthday Matt! 🎉 Hope you got to see the overtakes Charles did- we saw none on F1 tv :(
I hate it when teams have a clear number 1 and number 2. F1 is so much better when team mates are equal and are out to beat each other.
To you sub title question No
Well, Charles is having a busy weekend. Driving in the Austrian Grand Prix and guest starring with you guys!
so u also went to the show right?? ur just jealous that ur not offered a part in it always priceless when they destroy there own statement and stop!! charles can(not) take care of himself his fans want to make sure hes not hurt by others cos hes mentally weak lando wins once charles since a long time but the shit they talk like they just won a title neither of them have achieved anything lando 1 win in 120 races and charles won 6/7 in a ferrari they should take some humble pie bottas has more then both of them combined!!!
i wish any other driver would do 1 race instead of perez just to see how bad he is and how good is max
If you want to see a masterclass of how you can be smart about DRS detection points and using it to pass, watch the 2022 Saudi Arabian grand prix and everything Max & Charles do in that race(breaking right before a detection point so they can use DRS in a clever way instead of passing the other driver already so the other one can use DRS to come back)
went to suzuka this season, had no timing table in real life and i was just like what the fuck is going on
