Great review, I've just ordered one of these to go with the 50 f1.2L. Your photos from this lens are superb, the bokeh is just sooo smooth with this lens. I think the issue with fast moving subjects is the speed of the AF motor, even though it is a USM motor, with the amount of glass it has to move internally it just can't keep up depending how quick the subject is moving sometimes.
Thank you so much for your comment and thank you for your helpful insight as to the AF motor! I hope you enjoy this lens just as much as I have enjoyed this lens! :)
Thanks so much for your comment, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! We definitely have a lot more videos that are in the process of being made so stick around if you're interested in seeing them!
That ef 85mm is the absolute best. It's not the 85mm fault for not being able to capture fast moving subjects. It's a mid range lens so stop down some and be sure your distance is correct. Adjust your tracking setting, double Dial up that shutter speed or if you like that speedy looking background punch around 1/30, speed pan match the subject and snap. I'm confused on the speedlight with the 85mm camera and having problems, that's the absolute PERFECT moment! Were you referring to meaning to have the 50mm at that grand entrance? How long you been shooting overall? just curious
Thank you so much for your comment and your additional insight! This is very helpful! I prefer to use the 50mm to photograph the grand entrance as I like to have the option to shoot wider. And I prefer shooting with a high aperture (f2.2 - 2.8) to get that beautiful bokeh that the 85mm provides; therefore, using a lower aperture to capture fast moving subjects on this lens does not work for my style. And I've been a professional photographer for 5 years now. Thank you so much for your insight and comment! :)
