  • A bone marrow transplant is a medical procedure to replace diseased bone marrow with healthy cells. The recovery time varies for every individual, usually, it is 6 months to 1 year.
    There are two types of BMTs - Autologous BMT and Allogeneic BMT. The recovery time for both these types is the same.
    You may feel weak for six months to a year. You can start doing normal activities after 6 months. Increase your daily activity slowly. You can start light exercise such as walking.
    Consult your doctor about when to return to work or school.
    Avoid riding bicycles or motorcycles until your doctor says it is OK. Check with your doctor before driving a car.
    Wear a mask when having a conversation with anyone or near the construction areas.

    My hubby has Multiple Myeloma, he gets his bone marrow transplant on Thursday. May God bless you during your recovery.

      God bless and speedy recovery. Other than medicine positive thoughts do the wonders after bmt so dont let him negative in anyways. Situation and complications will come but just remember it's temporary one

    Just have my leg bone transfer last week and I can't even sleep from pain. Not easy. All I want walk again and sleep through 1 night without wake up from pain.

    Yes today after 2 years I went to mall. Although it's both good and bad feeling.
