This is a mishap of the highest order. But legally you should have held Colleges accountable by other means, instead of letting our kids suffer. This was an ARROGANT DECISION by the Department. Will they be refunded the money they would have paid to the institution. Even the timing this is done is not proper. Why after registrations, learners now must be informed the institutions are no longer accredited. This is against the social justice, as you know very well that most learners who can't go to universities rely on these colleges. Its highly likely that there will be a protracted legal battle between the state and private colleges.
I was studying at Damelin Braamfontein. From 2020 to to now they’ve been failing to provide results and always telling us that whatever course we did was under department of education
Having worked in one of the Educor campuses for three years (2018-2020), I can attest that all of this is true. It was just a mess, really. Students who didn't meet requirements being enrolled (for the sake of money, obviously), "Manufactured" marks (I was a lecturer there but the marks that would appear on student reports, were not the marks I rewarded to students), and of course, up and down remuneration (sometimes, NO remuneration).
Is the department of higher education sure that all the complaints against the said institutions didn't start much earlier/far back? In line with that how are they going to ensure that the students who graduated around 2020 as an example are not looked at in manner that says 'your qualifications aren't reputable'?
Growing up we were always told that private education is better than public..UCT, WITS, UP, UJ etc..these are all public universities and they rank amongst the best in the world. Furthermore, students who attend at these private institutions of higher learning only go there because they've been rejected by UCT, UJ and the like.. That is a clear demonstration that private education is not better than public as we have been always made to believe. This is an area where government clearly outperforms the private sector.
He is right when he says government cannot badly criticized for holding people accountable Private institutions (even OUTSIDE the education sector) behave like they untouchable
They should look into universities too I mean we literally asked to pay 3k just for space isn't that corruption ,we can't study cause we don't have those 3ks
Who owns Educor? Who was supposed to ensure that these colleges get quality lecturers and the standard of courses offered were up to standard? Aowa Educor...🤷🏾♀️🙄🙆🏾♀️🥺🤦🏾♂️🤔🙆😏🤷🏿♂️... Why gamble with students' lives😢😢😢 What happens to lecturers pension funds??????
Thank you Minister. We can't have these colleges do as they please. Either you comply or ship out.
A criminal investigation ought to take place. This is unacceptable.
I agree. A crime might have been going or or some undesirable activities...why then hide financial records?

My college just deducted my money, after I blocked the debit order yesterday
And then what does that mean for students who graduated years ago at these institutions? 😢

Worse of all, the lectures didn't get salaries for months and months😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Same thing at Damelin Cape Town Mowbray / Observatory
They make you fail on purpose so you can pay again to redo a module
This is a similar problem I've received from Intec Distance College. It's a another one that should be looked into

All students! Please apply for a Sassa grant!
Fancy names, dodgy dealings to scam unsuspecting and vulnerable public with useless qualifications. Long-waited decision after decades of damage.
Shouldn't this information be shared before the beginning of the new academic year? Parents have paid registration or fees upfront 😢
