    Excellent video. What I use for line of sight from center dot to center dot is an elastic band. Works perfectly. I can easily see what terrain the line of sight passes through.

    I use a piece of thin string for spotting/los. A laser pen also works well.

    Use a rubber band for your LOS checks...SO much easier..just cut it, and stretch it from hex to hex.

    Looks like at 27:33 the German unit should spot the Baker unit. LOS is running right down the hexes and the rules say IIRC that if both sides of a spline have blocking, then blocked. But if only one side does, then LOS is not blocked. The hex with the logs is no blocking based on the orders for the both units.

      The issue with the components has been fixed. I recently ordered a copy and everything was fine

    • @mioan83
      @mioan83 3 года назад +2

      @@farpointgamingdirect Fixed? Just bought a copy and the counters quality wise are the worst I had ever in any game. Difficult to punch and prone to damage the others in the process and the printed sheet of the counters is so easy to scratch and it tends to unglue from the thicker core. Card backs have colour discrepancy and so on. I didnt play the game yet so no judgment there but the quality of the components is bad for the price payed, no way around that.

    Do terrain features block line of sight by entire hex or the actual physical feature printed on the map?

  • @abstractbybrian

    Does combat! Have stance rules? Prone/crouch/stand, etc.

    • @adzi6164
      @adzi6164 Год назад

      not directly... orders affect the chances to be hit or spotted, cross-referenced with terrain. It can be assumed that soldiers do make an effort of using nearby concealment/cover, if their orders do not force them towards more reckless action.

  • @dougkalinousky2754
    @dougkalinousky2754 5 лет назад

    I think that when a german soldier moves into a rough terrain, their order should change to a duck back, then hide. Also, you should have checked if that was a dummy chit when they spotted the us soldier.

    • @tonyholt5597
      @tonyholt5597  5 лет назад +1

      The Auto Change from Rough Terrain/Duck Back is only if the Movement Order is Sprint. However, if an Enemy Character moves into Cover Terrain, a TQC is made to see if it's Duck Back..May have missed it (and the "dummy check").

    • @dougkalinousky2754
      @dougkalinousky2754 5 лет назад

      @@tonyholt5597 I am not sure if that is true for the germans, it is for the u.s. soldiers. Check the rules 10.13 for the German duck back order, item number 4.

    • @tonyholt5597
      @tonyholt5597  5 лет назад +1

      @@dougkalinousky2754 That is, indeed, what it says in the Rulebook, but in discussions with the Game's Designer, he has verified that Rule 10.13 #4 should have had "if the Order is Sprint".

    Any AI bot solo system where the logic is decided ONLY by throwing a dice ... sucks frankly.
    Compare this to the programmed instructions found on the Conflict of Heroes solo expansion cards and you see why I love John Butterfield games and not this kind of complete random stuff.

    • @madddog6790
      @madddog6790 5 лет назад +8

      The dice rolling is a special rule for turn 1 in this scenario. If you go to episode 3, the normal sequence is to draw a card for each enemy character, and it'll list an order based on cover/morale state.

    • @gkrockover
      @gkrockover 5 лет назад

      Sorry, not meaning to be cynical and I appreciate the video but man it seems like a ton of dice rolling, chit checking and card referencing just to find that the German counter moves a hex in the #6 direction. But I guess you get a lot of that type of thing with a solitaire tactical system.
