My grandma & Aunt Beverly were fans of this soap. I was born in Dec 1982 and I remember when I was very little, grandma watched this while my aunt was at work. When they first got a VCR in 1985, my aunt didn't have to miss Days anymore until she finally gave up in 2005. RIP to my grandma Sara Gray and aunt Beverly Steinberg.
This is definitely original. You can tell from the warbled music and the scratchy background. It’s EXACTLY how it was broadcast every single day on network television for decades. Warbles and scratches included
I still watch this today and it's still the same pretty much just sleeker looking. Can't believe I've spent so many years watching that sand glass lol. I enjoyed when mom and I could watch. Those were great moments. So stressful, too lol.
This opening was in a crucial scene in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Roy Neary had it on his TV while he was building his model of Devil's Tower in his living room.

Back in 1978, who would’ve thought the show will still be aired more than 40 years later? Because the show is about the days of our lives and they are innumerable...
This sure does being back so many memories my grandma would wake up at 6am every morning! don't care what day it is she is up at 6am in the kitchen cleaning here vegtables she got out of her garden she'd have her green beans and peas in a big bowl and she would make breakfast scrambled eggs and biscuits from scratch and her and my grandfather loved their pork rines I didn't like them after she was done with breakfast she'd come in the living room with her big bowl and she would turn the TV on and at 11am she'd watch the price is right until 1pm noon and as the the world came on and she'd be picking those green beans and talking to her best friend sista holiday and they watched those soap opera's I really miss those days so much! I miss my grandparents they made their transition years ago I miss them so! those were the best of times I regret ever saying I can't wait till i Get grown I take that back! I wish I could go back like u wouldn't believe! I'd be outside riding my bike up and down the street and playing with the neighborhood kids and having fun no worries the bill's were paid and all I had to do was do my homework and clean my room 😂 more was added as the years went on and the older I got 😂 where did the time go? Why'd it have to go? It was great times I'd give almost anything to go back(almost anything) the good ol days
An end of an era. NBC moved Days Of Our Lives to their streaming platform PEACOCK. No longer will this soap opera be seen on network television free of charge to everyone. 1965-2022. 👋
“Today on Days Of Our Steelers, the Black & Gold Brigade make their journey to Miami for the World Championship of the Gridiron against an overconfident posse of Cowboys from Texas calling themselves ‘America’s Team’ but not without drama as Terry Bradshaw, the Leader Of Men, whose spelling skills is being challenged by the flamboyant linebacker and white powder enthusiast Thomas Henderson who calls himself Hollywood. Can the Black & Gold Brigade return to Super Bowl glory? Or will the South Florida nightlife do them in? And can the Leader Of Men spell CAT if he’s spotted the C and the A? Like the suds of an IC Light quenching a Yinzer’s thirst, so are the Days Of Our Steelers.”
I'd like to create a new TV Pilot Series called, "Square Eyes & Shut Up'. It's about two young boys, who stare at Tablets all day, one doesn't say much except, "pikachu pikachu", the other one just says, "shut up" when spoken to. Riveting viewing. I'd like to use this wobbly theme music for the intro, if that's ok... maybe I'll have to pixilate the 1972 copyright bit though.
@OneDayAfterAnother Me neither, but I have a theory (and you don't have to quote me on this)... Around 83-84, CPT Holdings was created, and with that, Columbia (now Sony), started putting their name on everything. Which is probably also why we started seeing Columbia's logo at the end of every episode starting in '83.

Days of Our Steelers...
Rip MacDonald Carey I understand why they got rid of it later on in respect of him and relatives but still keep the theme
I was born in 1972 and if I knew my life was going to be such a soap opera I never would have come out of the womb.
Same here
I always thought he said, "this is my gunned carrot."

Best soap theme ever
Ahhh my grandmothers "stories".
Mine too.and you knew better than to try and change the channel if she walked away for a minute.

Starring MacDonald Carey as Dr. Tom Horton.
never a storm on the hourglass itself
Gosh sounds the theme hasn’t changed much

MacDonald Carey's voice in this used to creep me out

Why does the copy right date say 1972 ? I think someone messed up
If you travel back in time to Ancient Greece, just walk up to Socrates and tell him this, and he will be impressed..........

That'd be great for a comedy sketch done on Saturday Night Live.

Never watched it
There Should be an 8 Bit Version, or a 16 Bit Version of the Theme Song.
I miss 8bc (8bitcollective)
Craig mack brought me here
The most boring open in daytime t.v.
I think this intro cost $1.50
When adjusted to inflation and appreciation, A LOT!!!! $1.50 well spent. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
