Rumor has it that in this northern land lives the Great White Weasel who brings gifts to all on winter solstice. Th creature known only as Santa Claws.
It’s funny how when looking at the Snow Shoveller, at first glance it almost looks like a wild pig in appearance. Furthermore, I just love how the Northern Maned Wackal looks so handsome and majestic, as if it came out of a piece of artwork. Almost like it came from royalty as an exotic pet.

@@ryancoxart oh I forgot to mention in my previous comment, you're massive inspiration for my own speculative evolution world, thank you for being here and doing this awesome art!
Wonderful episode! The uniqueness and variety of the species and designs make this series one of my favorites. As for a slower upload rate, don't worry about it, I think I speak for most of us when I say the thing that draws me to the series isn't the fast rate of upload, but your ideas and the world you have created.
what about the appearance of the first filtrators on mastellona from the first aquatic creatures such as lutratramarina or marelutra. yes, filter whiskers can't appear right away, but you can start with tightly closed teeth or something like that. An analogue may be the teeth of a sea leopard (and they are also partially filtrators, although they are predators)
Don't worry if you can't upload as often. We will aways be here to watch as the episodes come out even if its at a slower rate. You should be incredibly proud of what you've already accomplished. Keep up the great work, sir!
I believe a new good spot to investigate would be the desert or mountain biomes you just mentioned at the start of the episode. After all, as biomes change, new niches open up for the inhabitants while old ones close up. I believe that the anoles' descendants would actually be quite suited to this area, with the little lizards managing to outcompete the runaroos in that biome specifically due to their ectothermy having a lower caloric upkeep requirement, taking their place as primary consumers in the hot, arid environment, and forming a foundation for larger mesocarnivores and apex predators to not just survive on, but thrive with among the bright sun and rocky soils of the hot desert.
Good luck with school, dude. Love your stuff. While this stuff is (understandably) in the backburner for now, allow me to recommend you something. If you wanna go reeeeeal in-depth on that world map, Artifexian's got your back with his 40+ episode geographical worldbuilding series (obviously you can pick and choose what you wanna implement). Take it with a pinch of salt, it's just an aspect of the world you can get lost in (rabbit hole lol) and presuming you haven't heard of the guy.
How cool, by the way, I liked that there is only one species of fish in this Arctic region, as far as I know, it is very rare for a fish to survive the cold icy regions
Gotta say, this episode reminds me of the European Ice Sheet from The Future is Wild with some of the animals shown in this looking like they fill some niches like the ones from the documentary. For example, the Arctic Lurcher reminds me of the Snowstalker, the Scraper looks like a big Shagrat with an Einiosaurus’ horn, and the Northern Fluker almost reminds me of the Gannetwhale, but as an evolved otter.
I've really enjoyed this series, you've made so many incredible creatures. I don't mind that there will be videos less often, you should take the time to focus on schooling and work on the 'behind the scenes' of the project. Keep creating!
I guess you coudl say that the arctic lurcher is the king in the north, question: if we are going to see anoles evolve flight would they evolve hollow bones like birds or would they be like bats? because hollow bones would allow them to grow larger while being able to fly
@@soudino2723 I think some would definitely evolve hollow bones to become better suited for true, powered flight. Maybe one lineage will keep their bones as they are and become more like bats 👀
Do you think you make a video about how you come up with, and draw these creatures. I would love to see your thought process when coming up with new ideas
Ohh Master Ryan thanks for granting us this magnificent gift of an episode we will be waiting patiently for the next time you graciously offer us a gift. Oh a new map it's very intresting especially with those far removed island which in future could see some wacky lifeforms, but i'm really curious how is it in the big (I guess tropical Rainforest) island on south east and what it has inside. Also seriously someone should give some names to the what i think three continents as well after so long knowing the usual Range would be nice since not every biome is as limited as tundra and arctic in terms of it's diversity. Also the rendering on animals as always amazing as they feel so cozy the same way normal animals do, that makes me feel the meme of if not friend why friend shaped. And also last biomes left are the desert and the mountains so please let it be the next episode with species being stated to be native to eastern or western mountains.
@ryancoxart sweet also have you played the game "It Takes Two" because there are some giant squiral skeletons with sharp incisors teeth and they were the equivalent of a theropod dinosaur you should add something like that
@@wendylacey2745 I'm not sure yet to be honest. I have a lot of ideas, but I'm gonna have to sort through them. Maybe an episode focused on the new desert or mountain biomes!
@@BigBossMan538 Thank you! Honestly when it comes to creature design, the best source of inspiration is animals that already exist. Mother Nature kinda already took all the good designs lol. But building on that, I also have to ask myself what niche do I want the creature to fill, what kind of behaviors should it have, what does it eat, etc. Animals are shaped by their environment, and sometimes by arbitrary things like what females find attractive. There are countless species of birds especially that have such bizarre features like the tails on peacocks, just because that's what the females of the species find attractive in a mate. There are nearly endless sources of inspiration you can use when making up your own creatures :)
Ive been commenting on pretty much every episode with recommendations (since I have been enjoying the series a lot) and I am sad to hear there wont be lots of uploads for a while but ill recommend something for the time that the show is gone: something that has bugged me a bit since the start of the series, the animals all have a similar body plan and all look too badgery, I know its still early in the timeline but for later evolutions, try to diversify more, especially in the face and upper body, this video is a step in the right direction though.
@@justaguyontheinternet3893 I appreciate the feedback! Part of what I'd like to do is go back and remaster a few of the illustrations of the already established species. I'll be sure to try and keep them all from looking too badgery. All mammals tend to have the same basic body plan, so it can be difficult to come up with something truly unique, but I'll do my best to make every species look distinct :)
We only have gliding mammals for the time being. Give it time; tetrapods can't evolve flight anywhere near as quickly as arthropods can. I'd recommend waiting until at least 35 million years have passed since the seeding of the world before the first truly-flight-capable animals show up onto the scene, and another ten-to-twenty-five million before those flight-capable animals gain the ability to withstand the cold climates of the polar biomes.
