Losing Jan Maxwell was a devastating loss for American theater audiences. I saw Wings many years ago (with Barbara Bain in the role). It's a devastating, heartbreaking play. But, back to Follies... I haven't seen the video of this production but I'll stay up all night finding it tonight.
I hate to admit it, but Jan was the star of this production. Saw it in DC then thrice again in NY - Bernadette was magnetic (and her performance evolved) but Jan was just phenomenal!
@@mikeson418 That's what happened in the original production, I've read: Dorothy Collins was the bigger name with the "better" background, but Alexis Smith ended up getting more attention, especially in the press. Phyllis has the bigger songs and that final dance number ... maybe that's it?
The late great Jan Maxwell was brilliant in Wings. My Mother had a stroke and Ms. Maxwell nailed every aspect of that condition. I was in tears throughout her performance. And I cried when she passed.
They are all wonderful. I saw Ron Raines in South Pacific and worked with him in A Little Night Music. He was perfect!!! And these people are all marvelously talented.
Miss Page is as lovely and funny as you get it. I met her backstage, through a mutual friend, and she was simply adorable! 💐
9:19 Bernadette chiming in to praise Elaine and the rest saying they all wanted to work with Bernadette was so sweet.

What an extraordinary gift to have this 'Look-In' available! Thank you very much!!!!
Ron Raines singing Too Many Mornings is one of the great moments in the show, especially with Bernadette.
Thanks so much for release this awesome archive for all those that appreciate this sondheim show.

So glad Elaine got to return to Broadway. Absolute QUEEN!
Jan Maxwell may she Rest In Peace.
"What the hell is going on?!?!" I'm glad someone said it!! There is a tendency to intellectualise Sondheim to the hilt!
