- Title: Talia'uli's Transformation: From Gangster to Tongan Farmer
Description:
Talia'uli was first featured in the original documentary "Deportees of Tonga: Gangsters in Paradise," aired on @ViceNewZealand in 2019. At that time, he had recently been deported back to Tonga and was visibly struggling to adjust to his new circumstances.
Over the past few years, I have kept in touch with 'Uli and witnessed his remarkable transformation from a gangster to a dedicated Tongan farmer on his family's land.
This short piece provides an update on 'Uli's journey and current endeavors.
Went from “I’m a motherf*kin kangsta” to “I’m a motherf*kin farmer” 😂 good on you toko, keep up the hard work
KC … uli
Dox 💀😂
After rewatching the first doco, the growth and maturity is very clear. From gangster to farmer and happy. I love this for you and wish all others the same
Where is the marijuana plantation hiding at Toko?
I need some of that
😂😂😂😂
Behind the saafa somewhere 😅
That looks like a dam fine life in a beautiful part of the world . New Zealand did you a big favour my friend .
You’re going to realized that in today’s world many people in Europe and North America are dying to get out and live in peace and quiet. Things got out of hand badly and many people are waking up. I’ve been living here in the U.S. since the 90s and life was different back then. Today in the future all manners of debts, cost of living, food, rent have been going up. Taliaʻuli you got the right mindset, just couple it with the internet and soon you’ll have some kind of business. Pea manatuʻi maʻu pē kote lea fakapālangi, ʻoua ʻe ngalo. One day you’ll need it
Exactly brother, I’m in WA State and everything is Sky high.
Every coworker I had dreamt of retiring by the water and fishing every day or buying a piece of land and build things and grow food.
I dreamed about nice cars and a white picket fence.
Funny how my coworkers were working towards my childhood life and I was working towards theirs!😂
They need to go back to the farms and the hills and I need to get my ass back to the islands!😅
@@siaosilefeauWashington state been always sky high..
Still better than living in tonga
No that first part. I live in CA and I’m trynna move back to Tonga.
I have been fascinated with that Tongan Deportee Documentary and rewatch it from time to time. Really appreciate this follow up.
Yes! That part 👍🏾
Proud of you Toko!!!! Master that Taro Game and go international! Continue Success Brother!!!
Maasii went from Mafkn Gangsta to Mafkn Farmer 😂😂💯🇹🇴Maile toko
Pick yourself up brother don't wait for others that's how we do it, all the best n praying for you
I remember seeing Talia'uli in that vice doco a couple years back. It's amazing to see how content he is now living as a deportee. Man found peace, and realized that being deported back to Tonga actually frees you. The west always brainwashes people to think money is important and a lot of islanders bite that bait and end up following the wrong crowd and adopting gang culture. I think all Pacific Islanders brought up the bad way needs to go back to their homeland to expand their perspective, and become better than the previous generations. Ofa Atu toko.
😮Yeah bro.100% true. We bite the bait for sure.
But on the flip side one thing us islanders are masters of is survival. We bite the money carrot kuz we can’t survive here unless we do. Here in US we don’t have acres of land to plant like back home so all our food must be bought. Nothing is within walking distance so we have to buy a car. No land to build a family home so we buy a house. The rat race sucks but we adapt and survive. Our grandparents sold a lie to our parents of a better life. They got here and found out the hard way that it ain’t all fun and games but here we are.
True many of new generations have lost their identity but some are staying humble and figuring it out. They’re winning and reaching out to those around them to help them figure it out too.
In my opinion the worse thing you can do is send money home. Best thing you can do is send your kids for a summer or better yet go as a family and stay in the family house not an Airbnb.
Let them sleep on the floor.
Let them see the showers/toilets.
Let them feel the heat and lack of AC.
Let them feel the mosquitoes.
Let them see the daily chores/tasks that need to be done.
Let them see the farming.
Let them see the life.
Teach our kids what it’s like where they came from.
The tree only grows as tall as the roots run deep.
Most of us have no clue of our true potential of where we can go because we don’t know how far we truly have come from.
@@jamestrek2570 100% bro! Everything you said is perfect, I completely agree.
If I was from the beautiful island nation of Tongatapu I wouldn't leave. I'm American and I don't even want to be here but I'm stuck here because other countries have no use for poor/middle class Americans. You must have at least at minimum 100,000K in cash to leave US and start over elsewhere. Today's America is not the country I remember or was raised in anymore.
You wouldn’t last a month 😂😂
Dox you already know the states is way worse than our little dot on the map😂😂😂@@icouldoflovedyouforever3361
Post more or longer videos was a good watch 👍🏾🙏
More to come! Stay tuned
One thing about us islanders is we have a good green thumb when it comes to gardening. My father who is cook islander has a beautiful vege garden and his late father taught him. I love my vege garden. Good work bro 🙌🏼

Good to see you doing well toko. Keep harvesting and you will reap the rewards. Much love my uso💙💯 #SPLTOKOUSO
Same reason I want to move back to Samoa. Much respect to the Toko, whom we shouldn’t be referring to a deportee. He’s in his own country now. Call him native. I think about 30% percent of Polys around the world should move back to the islands to build the local economy and preserve our heritage - especially those who’ve retired. Retired early is even better to go back.
This💯💯💯 I want to move back to Tonga and give back to the community, also it’s just so much more peaceful and it’s home for me at least.
When you live a certain way and survive it than have to start all over again, you appreciate even the smallest of things and see life in a different way.
Aiga 🐍
Good farm toko toatu👌 😊
This doco episode is so heartening to watch since he first got deported years ago and they showed him working on the wharf. Great to see Uli doing well and making the most of what life has thrown his way. Played rugby with him at Ponsonby Rugby club and he lived in my neighbourhood around Meadowbank in East Auckland. ‘Ofa atu Uli 🫡
That's the first positive development after years of life as a gangster.
UP THE EB✌🏽🎣🔥 good seeing our fishing merch all the way in the kingdom🇹🇴🔥 much love from the eastside boaters here in Auckland Nz✌🏽💙
Apologize to Tonga: Back in the day I was a member of a white United Methodist Church where 90% of the United Methodist Churches in the United States are white churches. There are Tongan members still there who were offended by me causing me to transfer my member to a BLACK United Methodist Church with me actually being mixed race of BLACK race and white race. I had mentioned that centuries ago Polynesian tropical island women were naked from the waist up covered up perhaps with leis with nothing on underneath their grass skirts. The men with wrap around garments on from the waist down with nothing on underneath being naked from the waist up. Oh yeah.😮
He went from talking like my Tongan friends when we were young to talking like their dads in just a few years. WOW, that’s growing up fast.
Beautiful brother, you have came a long way 👍
When the world goes up in flames. . .Tonga will be a very good place to be.

Central King Cobra.
Hullo here from Iceland.
that's an ancient asian hairstyle man.
apparently the polynesians and asians lived together and then seperated along time ago. The viets, filos, cambos, laos, thailand and other dark-skinned asians are very similar in terms of facial features. Asians and Islanders come from the same family at one point in history.
also why islanders and asian are always spiritual and share similar beliefs about family and life, etc.
Ofa atu my toko.

When life is stuck, don't forget to evolve. Learn to change when it needed. Life never means to end when it's against you. It's meant to expand your world and create more opportunities sometimes not only for yourself but also for those around you too.
