Please purchase several rolls of clear packing tape. Those can be used to strengthen the folders so that they do not rip. Clear packing tape can also be used to pick up pencil shavings and small bits of paper that get stuck in the carpet. If you can find pencil grips, then I would recommend purchasing them. They will help your students to hold their pencils properly. When it comes to I-Ready, see if you can motivate your students to pass their lessons with 75% or higher. You will see the growth when they take their diagnostic tests over the academic year. I will begin my 31st year of teaching elementary school in August, and I wish you all the best with your first year of teaching. Thank you for your video presentation. Take care.
I’m so happy I found your channel! It’s also my first year teaching 3rd grade and I am so excited! I’ve learned so much from you already! So thank you for taking the time to make these videos. Praying you have an amazing year! 🩵
If the folders you purchased are paper with no prongs, you may be able to laminate them if your school has a large laminator and you have permission to do that. You would have to cut a slit for the students to use the pockets. Also, ask your main office for any supplies (tape, sticky notes, etc.) that you can use without having to purchase yourself. I am curious how you will keep track of your iReady data for your students. I tried a sticker chart, and just did not have the time to update it. You may do a video on that! 😊
10:36 I am not a teacher, but I remember my 8th-grade math teacher, she would have soda that she would give students on their birthdays, which I thought was super cool! Was it like the off-brand soda though from Walmart? But I know little kids will love those squish balls, and the stitch Squishmellow is so cute!
Thanks for sharing, but now I NEED to go get my school shopping done!! Also, I would love to hear more about what you're doing with i-Ready. I'm trying to implement some motivational things for students as well. :)
Does your school have extra school supplies for new students? I bought extra supplies my first couple of years until I found out my school has a supply closet teachers can grab from for new kids. I still prep the new student supply packs, though (it's so good to get out of the way)!

Our math curriculum ended up coming with a lot of manipulatives, rulers, etc. BUT did not arrive until the end of October!
