Absolutely fascinating. Those of us of a certain age will recall Bluebird's record runs. The engineering challenge here is immense. Fluid dynamic modeling is in a non-linear range approaching the speed of sound (1170 feet or 345 meters per second). While that clearly has been done for aircraft, this has a very different boundary condition, the ground where at the surface the airspeed is nearly zero, comparatively. Surely Richard Branson and Virgin should be interested. All the luck to the team in achieving this STEM goal.

I was lucky enough to go to Avonmouth on my birthday in 2016 and see this car being assembled at the industrial estate where the project was based. I met Richard Noble who signed my corgi model I bought on the day. I saw the car as in its disassembled state, the jet engine and the fuel tanks, the carbon fibre monocoque etc. It was in its original blue and orange livery. I saw all the African test runs as well - I so hope they get the funds to go to the original 1000mph they talked about back in 2014 - 800mph is that stepping stone. So good to see Bloodhound re-live.

You might want to re-visit the description, but the actual video is top notch. So if they're looking for a new driver has Dead Dog decided he'd like to make it to old age?
Fabulous film. Great to see boundaries being tested and pushed further by such a great and fundamentally simple thing - to be the fastest. Fingers crossed investment is forthcoming and success is achieved to reward the brilliant engineers behind it.
A great walk around Harry. Stuart’s enthusiasm is plain to see and he has explained in simple terms. I loved his description of reheat as the fiery bit at the end. It’s so sad that we as a country do not appreciate engineers like Stuart who should be a an inspiration to others. Hopefully with this new publicity the funding will be forthcoming and inspire others into STEM.
Incredible video. The engineering details are fascinating. A couple of quick calculations suggests 38,400 horsepower at 800mph. Might not be spot on but incredible power!!
This car has seemed like vapourware for the last decade , and it did seem like it was getting real just prior to 2020 but as we are now in the 15th year of development (Thrust SSC only took 5) this cars story has kind of always felt very odd and capped off (I always wondered if they were looking for a race with the North American Eagle akin to Spirit of America - Formula Shell LSRV and the Thrust SSC in 1997). I really do hope it eventually gets a go with a rocket along with the new management. Good luck Bloodhound!
They need to run it somewhere else besides bonneville The bonneville salt flats are way different today than 1997. Climate change has led to different levels of rainfall and salt has been leeching out of the flats for decades as its not being replenished as fast as its being removed by nature. Potash mining nearby has to do with this also. The flats reached its peak in area in 1994 Today it is less than half that size. These guys are dreaming a pipe dream if thats where they are going to attempt a run. Speed week was almost canceled this year due to rain and it was canceled in 2022 Australia has a promising lake bed of similar size that does not have this problem.
The engineer is absolutely brilliant in explaining the process and building, a piece of magnificent machinery, and the icing on the cake it is very much British made and piloted throughout. I am looking forward to seeing the financial support and seeing it soon. 😊
Absolutely great video Harry. I've been following from South Africa the project for the past years . Excellent content from both of you. Ill be there to watch the record been broken. Gods speed to the new driver / landspeed breaker.

Yep political license 😂
This was wicked really enjoyed it absolutely mind-blowing the numbers and the challenges involved in this project
You might want to re-visit the description, but the actual video is top notch. So if they're looking for a new driver has Dead Dog decided he'd like to make it to old age?
I’ve never cared for any of this but I appreciate the exposure from this video. Thank you for the education!
It is very interesting how this rocket on wheels will behave in a turn at the intersection of your favorite roads A361 and B4437
passing out of the 30mph zone and accelerating up the hill first. Not sure it'll do the cornering quite as well as the acceleration
Stuart is a very passionate guy, I hope he raises the cash. It would be an amazing achievement to reach 1000mph!
Just waiting for Harry to take it on "some more interesting roads".
Incredible video. The engineering details are fascinating. A couple of quick calculations suggests 38,400 horsepower at 800mph. Might not be spot on but incredible power!!
Derek the trucker who got it in there, should drive the Bloodhound LSR. serious skills
Cool idea
Lucky to talk to Andy Green a few years about this and what a guy to talk to. I didn't do much talking but could have listened to him for hours.
This round of land speed record always seemed a bridge too far to fund. It's great to see.
They need to run it somewhere else besides bonneville
The bonneville salt flats are way different today than 1997. Climate change has led to different levels of rainfall and salt has been leeching out of the flats for decades as its not being replenished as fast as its being removed by nature.
Potash mining nearby has to do with this also.
The flats reached its peak in area in 1994
Today it is less than half that size. These guys are dreaming a pipe dream if thats where they are going to attempt a run. Speed week was almost canceled this year due to rain and it was canceled in 2022
Australia has a promising lake bed of similar size that does not have this problem.
@@dylanmccallister1888 I think they were planning to run it somewhere in Africa. Some sort of Pan or something like that. The name escapes me.
@@mammoet1133Hakseen Pan iirc
This video delivers a most wonderful news - Bloodhound LIVES!!!
34:45 Sure sounds like Harry is headed to 800!
Mental - Im sold, this is proper engineering madness to get behind. Its amazing.
Imagine Harry rolling that down Burford High Street 😂
The engineer is absolutely brilliant in explaining the process and building, a piece of magnificent machinery, and the icing on the cake it is very much British made and piloted throughout. I am looking forward to seeing the financial support and seeing it soon. 😊
Wonderful and inspiring, great stuff, thanks a lot.
I am so pleased this project has life. As a South African, I want this to happen. In some angles, it looks like those American hydroplane boats.
Great video ‘H’ only us brit’s can do mad things like this, usually it’s a guy in a shed. 👍🏻😀
love how you got them to pull that into your garage like all the reviews
I do wonder how noisy that’ll be on the favourite bit of road, let alone the acceleration out of Burford!
Let's hope this project doesn't go bust as it has done many times in the past. Good Luck
The Grand Tour should get Hammond to have a go... Jet car 2.0
Absolutely great video Harry. I've been following from South Africa the project for the past years . Excellent content from both of you. Ill be there to watch the record been broken. Gods speed to the new driver / landspeed breaker.
At around 1300 km/h in speed, my 4 km to work would take... 1.44 sec. Wow! A little slow, but it should do. 🙃
Went the wrong way with your maths :), 4km would take 11.07 seconds! 1300km/h is 0.36km/s
@@brothertwinzCome on, he must not account extra for parking.
@@brothertwinzYes, i can see where i was wrong. I should have taken 0.36 x 2,7 and then x4. 10,8 i correct. Thanks! Math can be hard.
And it's proudly got a Union Jack on the tail fin. Big up Great Britain. Another land speed no other country can match. We are a forward looking country in most ways. Regards a proud Brit Alan :o)
Descriptionsd wrong, talking about Mc20
Followed the project from the beginning. Went to see it run at Newquay. Really hope it gets the funding required.
Impressive, are the servicing parts easily available? I'll buy one if so.
Easy, just costs a bit
Thrilling engineering at the zenith of human ability, I sincerely hope you get the dosh, dreams are made of this!🇮🇪☘️👍
Looking forward to the squirt up the hill out of Burford…..
I'd have a bash at that. No family, no children, no worries, nottin' to loose. And yes, I too have driven at 197mph. Using 4 wheels and my V8. Sensational coverage Harry. Bw Mike in the Forest of Blackness
Now all it takes is 12m pounds and you're good to go.
Easy. I will check behind the sofa.....@@philipminns3933
I hope they get the funding but putting a random millionaire in the drivers seat is madness.
Why arn’t we English all like these RAF guys , they talk properly , present themselves remarkably well ( when sober 😂) and are very very knowledgeable and professional.
I’d buy any of them a beer.
I personally thought this project had fell by the wayside due to funding or something, spot on and best wishes to everyone involved. 🇬🇧👍
I wonder if Billy Monger could be the driver they are looking for. That would be a story.
Would love to see the ‘grey panel of crowdfunded names’ (which was on the tail fin) some how reincorporated into the final livery.
Would be a wonderful nod to all those that helped get the project up and running its first iteration 😉
