The set leader setting is a great tool. Being able to set my teams channels vs me telling them to use a walkie they’ve never used before is just great. Thanks for the video!!
I just bought these. Thanks for the video!
No problem, thanks for watching and supporting the channel
Very smart to have two charging plugs on the same charger. The app is a game changer too.
and dont get mad when thay dont work beond two miles thats it
My sister and I bought these to use while camping off-grid. We can text each other or send an alert while we are both in our respective campers. Example: "hey sis, there is a bear in camp, don't go outside :-)"
I read beer.
I hope she made it out alive.
Maybe do brown alert
YOGI ALERT BROWN AND DOWN YOGI IS IN THE BASKET I REPEAT YOGI IS IN THE BASKET
hope she is less than two miles away becoue thats it
Super useful thx
Thanks for this review 👍🏽
No problem. Im glad you liked it
he forgot too tell his friends that at more than two miles its dead i would not trust them
with my radio I can talk to chicago i use repeters just the police use
And a great video too
you cant get more than two miles apart thay wont after that.
I'm looking to use a standard earbud + mic headset with a walkie talkie. Does pairing a phone with the t800, using a earbud/mic headset with the phone and VOX work? Or do you have other walkie talkie recommendations that can use a standard earbud/mic combo?
Now that they're old enough this is so much fun for me n my kids. I can pretty much contact them anywhere in the neighborhood from my porch, couch or toilet.🤣
Hahahaha. Raising 2 boys, I can't stop cracking up.
as long jr stayes under two miles that is the range for family service which is what you have
awesome video, very helpful!
Glad you think so!
sorry he did not tell you that you have a two mile range with your child locater
i used to have gotenna doing the same thing then years ago. i guess other company is bought this off grid texting…. i wonder if it works with gotenna
Hi, does anyone know if its possible to change the frequency from this radios to Europe pmr446 frequency? And if possible how can it be done? Thank you.
Hold up....
is that a Galaxy S5? In pristine condition?
Think its an s5 but yeah its in pretty good shape.
Very nice radio..l like
Can we connect the walkie talkie to the headset via bluetooth like the discounted model MU350R? Thanks
read the book that came with it it will tell you everthing he did not know becouse he did not read the book
injoy your two mile dog chain happy trailes
Good day sir we have the old mototola tlkr t6 we have had this for a while now and just recently have a use for it again. Problem is the range never bothered checking bwt it til now and it barely reaches 800 meters.. no buildings trees or mountain blocks. Any ways to boost it or it gets like this in time?
If they are equivalent to FRS(Family Radio Service) radios of the USA then no, you can't do anything to boost range. FRS Radios have a bunch of restrictions like being limited to 2 watts transmit power, which most FRS radios can't even do, and the antenna cannot be changed. Nobody should expect an FRS radio to transmit close to a mile or over it.
I looked up Motorola TLKR T6 and it said it's range was "up to 8km" which is the "ideal scenario" many are never going to see. So your 800 meters claim sounds about right. If you want increased range from a radio you're going to have to do a lot of research to get a better radio that falls within your country's laws. I think the equivalent of FRS/GMRS in european countries is PMR466, although I'm not certain of that. If it is then this is where you should start when researching.
Can the radios send pictures through the app, similarly to the Garmin Rhino or many Ham Radios?
I have not tried yet but it will be part of the second video.
question, so i go on drives with friends alot, these come in 2 packs on amazon. so if i buy 2 two packs for a total of 4 talkies can i use them altogether for 4 different people in 1 channel?
Yes you can
yes you can BUT you need to be less than a mile apart other thay wont work becouse he did not
read the book that comes with it you bacikly have a child locater.
Is it possible to change the frequency in order to talk to other two way radios. Tks!
Only within the preprogrammed frequencies but it should not have a problem communicating to other frs radios from different manufactures.
In Motorola’s device description it lists this radio as FRS, however in your video you show a set up page with 22 channels. Is Motorola planning on a GMRS version using the same software ?
FRS is now all 22 channels, with up to 2 watts on 1-7+15-22, and a half watt on 8-14.
I have heard of FRS radios with 20, 22, 40 channels, if you figure out how or why tell me
How water resistant is this device? I'm considering getting this or the T600.
It has an ipx 4 rating wich means it is resistant from splashing from all directions. I interpret this as usable in the rain for short periods of time and resistant to humidity but not waterproof or submersible.
I work construction I was wondering will the range actually go up to 30 miles like it's said ??
I would have to say no. 30 miles would be perfect conditions with clear line of site. Like a mountaintop to mountaintop situation.
Can you pair bluetooth headphones? Great review BTW!
Not sure about that but I will look into it.
Hello Uncle Bill. I am wanting to quad, fish in deep bush with VOX headsets for Motorola but there are three of us. Can I pair one of the T461 with the pair T800 so we can all talk to each other with our helmets on? I would really appreciate your input on this.
Since they are both motorola frs radios you should be able to communicate with them without a problem.
Yh sure
Have not had any success downloading Offline maps to use with my new T800 radios and Talkabout. I get to the part that states "You do not have any downloaded maps yet. Would you like to download one now?" Without a Yes or No icon. The rest of the screen is blank. What Offline maps service works with the T800. Galaxy A23 Android 13. Any help appreciated.
As far as I know the maps that work are obtained through the Motorola app. It would be nice if it could work with downloadable google maps
Part 2??
Do you pair each radio separately or together.
You must pair the phones individually to the radio.
Dumb Newby question here, what's the difference between the T82 and T800 except for the Bluetooth and App for the T800. Is the T800 better, does it have better range or does it also still only operate within the "Lisence free" limits?
The t800 operates in the licence free range in the United States between 462-467 mhz. The t82 operates on the 446 mhz frequency range. I think that is the European version of the frs. Pretty sure they are just as reliable.
...but the T82 has no Bluetooth Option. No Chance to connect it with the moto app
What if no cell service for some reason. Main thing about radio does without any phone at all ?
The radios will work regardless of cell signal. This system is designed so you can use the phones without a cell signal as the radio is transmitting the gps information and text messages for the phone.
Me I ask a question? My Motorola is new, and I don't know how to operate this, my problem is my monetor is my sign of music, how to do to skip this,
I just bought 2 T800. My question: is it normal that the screen turns on by itself causing the other walkie talkie to turn on every time and make a sound. I dropped a sheet of paper on it and it turned on by itself. He's way too sensitive. Is there a procedure to fix this problem?
Sounds like vox is turned on. I believe there is a sensitivity setting in the app
Could I find out where the other person is on a map if mine was connected to my phones Bluetooth but hers was not connected to her Bluetooth but her radio was on? Thanks in advance.
I do not think so. If she is not connected to the phone there will be no gps data sent from her phone to the radio.
@@unclebillscamping ok great. Thanks for the fast response. Informative videos. Thank you.
There’s a updated T802 now
Can I pair two radios to one phone? I got two in my order and I don’t have anyone to use the other radio lol.
I do not think that will work. Most pho es will only bt pair with one item at a time. If you can get past that there would probably be be a software issue with the app.
Is the subscription free?
Does anyone know if the the app that you have to download is open source??? I see no reason to use this if it is not open source…
This I do not know.
No problem, this was a great video btw brotha.
A great open source option is Meshtastic LoRa which also has off grid messaging and GPS capability… granted it’s not a radio but Atleast the app is open source and I know nothing nefarious is happening with my data especially my gps data… if I’m off grid am I really off grid if Motorola secretly keeps data in their servers ?
That’s my $0.02everything should be open source 🤲🏾
@@1surfpesca_ if you carry a cell phone to use with the app, Big Brother already tracks you.
Maybe a dumb question, so please forgive me if it is, but if both units have actual cell service and are say 100 miles apart, will the tracking festure atill work or do they have to be in actual radio range with each other for that feature to work?
It would not work at that range as the radio are transmitting the gps data from the phone to the other radio to the other phone. There is probably a seperate app for group tracking when cell service is available.
Hey can you use Ear pieces with these
Yes you can but I do not think you can use a Bluetooth headset while the radio is paired to the phone. You will have to use a corded headset/mic
Hey I need help whenever I talk with one of my walkie-talkie the other one makes this high pitched sound and you can barley hear my voice
There are a few things it might be. Are the two radios really close to each other when this is happening?
Are you using any kind of headset device with this radio?
@@unclebillscamping well when me and my dad started testing them they were close to each other and we could hear each other perfectly but now it make that high pitched sound and no I’m not using headsets
Looks like this is discontinued?? Do you know which model is the replacement model?
I apologize but I do not. I will do a little more research but some of the radios entering the market seem to be combining touch screen navigation and text with the radio itself so this tech be it nice may have just served as a temporary bridge to a better product.
I think the T803 replaced the T800
Hello dear people,
Could you please anyone tell me what is the difference between Motorola Talkabout T800 and the T801? I couldn't find any information through the Google about it. Thank you in advance
T801 is just Black and Lime Green instead.
@@dizzyaznboy lol
How is your radio color purple haha or is that just the camera making it look that way
😂😂😂 it’s just blue. You would be surprised how differently the color is on different screens.
@@unclebillscamping I can’t get the maps to work or load or download for nothin lol you got lucky
Its a fantastic radio but this seems like technology for the sake of technology, the only things you cannot already do is the location other else this is a standard walkie
Does this work in Europe?
It will work in Europe but I’m not sure if it’s legal. I believe there is a version of this made for the European market with the proper frequencies.
Isn't ham radio better? These are still trackable
"Better" would be a matter of opinion and specific function for your use. Ham is superior in many ways but also usually requires more equipment.
For a really easy use and close range use, these are hard to beat.
Can't hear you
IMPECCABLE REVIEW SIR.
DO THEY WORK IN ARGENTINA?
I HAVE A SAMSUNG A20 AND SAMSUNG A10.DOES THE T800 WORK ON THOSE PHONES?
Esses rádios tem alcance ridíkulo. Custam caro. Não se entende o que se ouve neles. O bom acabamento e a beleza engana a gente. Eu comprei e me decepcionei grandemente. É brinquedo para criança. Peguei o apelido de "Alô alô, tem alguém me ouvindo?. Motorola talk about 5000
The wattage on this is too low. For any meaningful distance. 0.75 Watts on high power wth. And this is the most expensive
Where did you read that? It's 2W on the permitted FRS channels (see frequency table on wikipedia). 0.75W is the limit on some channels.
@@veegee24 It's on the FCC page for the radio. It's states that its highest output is 0.75 watts and 0.4 on low power, the max output for a FRS radio is 2 watts but this radio doesn't come close to that. here it is. fccid.io/AZ489FT4947
@@veegee24 Hi i remembered your Comment, Motorola has released a new Radio the T470 ( FCC Link fccid.io/AZ489FT4959 ), This one has true 2watts of power, Its almost identical to the T800 in looks. shop.motorolasolutions.com/t470-rechargeable-two-way-radios-dual-pack/product/T4B32205YERAAW?RUclips&
@@TheChico868 Not in functionality though. No Talkabout app support, so no texting or location that make the T800 an interesting radio. That makes no sense since it limits only people with the T800 to use it.
I know the T800 radio was being designed with the old rules in mind, but it needs updated to the 2 watts FRS radios can be at ASAP.
Seriously I'm so disappointed in this model and Motorola. They have all the right ideas but terrible hardware decisions. What is the point of all the features if it doesn't work?
Me I ask a question? My Motorola is new, and I don't know how to operate this, my problem is my monetor is my sign of music, how to do to skip this,
