It's funny how many people say she "yells." I've never heard a vocal coach call it "yelling." I wish I could "yell" like this.
CheshireKat I think they mean that her belts sound a little “shouty.” Demi is an absolutely incredible singer, has amazing power and breath control. I think that sometimes (sometimes, sometimes, not all the time) she lacks nuance and always goes for the belts (where she’s comfortable) where it may not be appropriate, rather than using some of the other areas of her voice and controlling her dynamics a little more. Which can make it seem like you’re constantly being “yelled” at.
Singers like Beyoncé or Whitney are (were) really good at knowing which parts of their voice to employ, using their vibrato in significant ways, using their mixed voice, falsetto, etc. and making their performances more seamless. Don’t mean to compare them per se, Im just mentioning them to give an idea of what I would consider to be better controlled vocals.
Demi’s still incredible and one of the best vocalists of her generation for sure!!!
@GUIMEL SIBINGO Demi does sound very uncontrolled and shouty in comparison to the effortlessness dynamics of Whitney and Mariah. But I do think Demi’s powerful belts and vibrato are sounding better/less shouty.
@@tylerhackner9731 I think she used to sound shouty but her voice has definitely evolved and it sounds more relaxed. There are still songs where she might sound like she's pushing too much but I trust she will get better at that.
She absolutely killed it. So much improvement over these years.

@@Lovatix No sweat. I almost did not comment because of how rude people can be online, so I appreciate that you were honest but not rude. My comment was halfway in jest. I too have the struggle of hearing popular artist who I don’t enjoy, and thinking I don’t get why people like them. Music can never be absolutely perfect and if it was my ears would probably not be good enough to truly appreciate the perfection. That being said, Dimash his incredible technique. So much so that many online vocal coaches and singers do not think he is actually singing. 🤷. Tara knows what she is talking about, so I trust her opinion.

Hey! You should really consider reactiong and analyzing the “Monster” cover by John Pinto Jr. from the frozen musical. The man has a pair of pipes and literraly explodes the entire universe with his belting.
It is to note that Demi is a very chest, mixed voice singer and rarely uses her head voice/falsetto aspect. Although I will say this was a good effort from her. I hope she’ll be exploring more of her head voice in this next era of music.

This is beautiful... my personal opinion is NO ONE can sing or could sing the national anthem like Whitney Houston did! No offense to your beautiful voice! But to me that performance makes me cry..feel patriotic and everything in one! You should react to Whitney singing it.
I love how supportive americans are, like in general, because for me, in spite of all that infos and your compliments all I hear is still an old italian lady singing loudly about her potatoes at a local market, and those riffs and runs just ruined it for me even more. The arrangement wasn't great either and yeah, I feel like it's almost an impossible concert to do the super bowl, especially after Whitney (she also had the best most amazing arrangement ever btw !) BUT also she didn't decorate it at all which is why it was glorious. Look, everyone knows these singers, everyone knows what they can do, the national anthem is already a super hard song to sing as it is, and it is glorious as it is !! (I'm not even American!) and the simpler you allow it to be, the more patriotic it becomes and more symbolic, while the more random squeezed in decorations you try to fit in, the more poppy, or jazzy or all over the place it sounds, and this isn't about you for crying out loud, it's supposed to be about America and the American Dream and all that, so the more you step out of the picture, the more you'll be rewarded by people for having done an amazing job. Whitney sung with perfection, she made it easy for herself to sing it, everything was solemn, accurate pitch perfect and grand and it was all directed at the US itself !! if you look her, as well as Pink btw !! you see that they don't sing to show off and be like, oh look at me belting and riffing and running up and down the national anthem, but it was about everyone you're singing for and I feel like except for Whitney and Pink no other singer ever got that . This is the text book case of less is more, and if you don't believe me just check out the Aguilera version of worse than all, Fergy ..
