As a a Tokyo resident smoker, I almost feel ashamed that I haven’t visited this museum yet. Thank you for introducing this hidden gem! You made me so inspired. And what a gorgeous smoking place! It may be the best smoking room in Japan and best suited for shooting videos. It’s a shame that Japan does not allow outside smoking and there are only few smoking areas, which are full of people and odors most of the time. I hope you can find comfortable smoking places where you can film easily.
love how jacob can make even the most normal things like a single cig into a interesting video and especially his perspective in this vid of just being excited at every small thing, is very refreshing and admirable and makes for great vid every time
I was in Japan last week for about 10 days. Man, japanese cigarette hit different. It's so clean with perfect taste and buzz. Every puff feels like heaven with the Japanese surrounding environment. My favorites were camel berry capsule and classic Japanese mevius. I liked it so much, I bought packs at the duty free as gifts and personal enjoyment! Enjoy your trip bro, Japan is magical.
That's so awesome. I had no idea there was even such thing as a tobacco museum and that it's in Japan. I'm SO glad there is and that I got to see some of it. If I ever get the chance to go to Japan I would LOVE to visit this museum.
Wow i was blown away by the detail. The curator clearly loves tobacco culture and wants to pay respect to it. The recreation of the little cigarette shop was so cool
Jacob you are a legend for respecting the Japanese culture by wearing a face mask even tho covid is long gone, this video is amazing Japan is the most beautiful country in the world.
Consider reviewing Japanese whisky while you're in the country. Especially Hibiki 21, Hibiki 30, and Hibiki 35 (provided you happen to stumble across $1m to buy a set). But the 30 and the 21 are still available to the Suntory distillery; you can get a 50ml shot for a reasonable price. In the US the exact same bottle (the HIbiki 30) would set you back $10-15k, depending on where you shop for them.
11:00 no this is actually because during the edo period hokkaido was actually not a part of Japan yet. A bit of history you know what im sayin you know what im sayin. Love the vids man.
A few days ago I was recommended you and I thought you were just doing a parody video or something I didn't know you had a whole channel dedicated to this. But now I must see you smoking a cigarette in all 50 states. And smoking each state's cheapest cigarettes.
You have to do bunch of videos about buying cigarettes from a vending machine! Also you need to try a bunch of japanese cigarettes! Especially menthol cigarettes, they have so many different menthol cigarettes in japan
almost none, i only know how to say 'thank you' in Japanese in all honesty 😂 I did start picking it up a little more as I continued my stay but not much tbh
Super interesting museum! Cool to see the evolution of tobacco from ancient times to modern times. Interesting also how in japan they have these smoking rooms. In japan they accomodate for smokers to make them feel welcome. In other countries they push them away more and more.
Fully agreed, great museum as a whole. And the smoking culture in Japan is nice as well, in some ways it's a lot more restricted than the United States, but in other ways it's more open. It's odd for sure, but in a good way.
@9:07 bro, I don't think the artifacts that were featured in that bit of the museum were original. I'm from England where we have plenty of ancient artifacts stuffed in museums. Those baccy smoking devices were way too pristine! I could be wrong though!
I went to the big hole diamond mine here in South Africa Kimberley. They have museums for mining in 1800s as well as medicine and tobacco products they used. Shit look old af but interesting af
I want to go to Tokyo Japan so bad it's like a different world there. But like idk how the hell people who only know English navigate through there...I know they have some stuff in English too but still.
This content is getting better and better.
for real
True
happy you enjoy man :) i appreciate the kind words!!

Hard to get much better then some dude who lives with his mom and smokes cigarettes for yt contact. 😂

This is what i love about japan, They will have niche museums or places and they are always SUPER nice /clean and beautiful
As soon as you figure out what else you want to vlog about, you'll be huge. You're entertaining and engaging, informative as well. Subbed.
Very cool, never knew this existed. You must be pretty dedicated to your niche to have found this.
Wow i was blown away by the detail. The curator clearly loves tobacco culture and wants to pay respect to it. The recreation of the little cigarette shop was so cool

woah that's actually such a cool and interesting place i would like to go there myself and i reallyyy enjoyed this video thanks jacob!
Jacob you are a legend for respecting the Japanese culture by wearing a face mask even tho covid is long gone, this video is amazing Japan is the most beautiful country in the world.
It’s hard to say it’s ‘respect’ when they still legally enforce it
Long gone? I guess you're another one of those who "did your own research" 🙄
well i don't think wearing a mask is a part of japanese culture but whatever
@@bloop6013 respect is part of their culture. They respect laws, rules, mandates, elders, etc.
It was mandatory to wear it in the museum so I had to do it ykwis 💪 Don't feel like getting kicked out
can already tell its a fire video and havent even got past ads yet

Been loving the content lately Jacob!!
you should travel back in time and smoke the first cigarette ever made
big bet might have to 😈😈
Never heard of any of that ancient Japanese tobacco stuff, looks like a very cool and informational experience, for less than a buck!

Looking forward to the next video. Would be really interesting to see this channel transform into a travelling channel
