There's huts and such in the around the hiking trails so you have somewhere to stay if needed. It's usually managed on trust/honor system that you leave it in as good or better condition than when you came. as far as I know at least it is like that. still need to go myself. I'd recommend to check out some videos on the Kungsleden Trail, 450 kilometres long.
