    So for FLOAT fishing, we have some good options now. Daiwa PRESSO still the best under $100, but the Okuma Pro Guide select (prev. video) and the TFO 1 pieces long models are excellent options. They feel every bit as good, and perhaps wobble a little less, but they cost double the Presso. Also, lets not forget that nothing except a Presso is a Presso.

      And the 1-piece models of 5'6, 6'0 and 6'6 are all excellent for twitching, significantly better than TCB from Leland Lures, and lighter than Shimano Sensilite A. However the king in budget twitching is still the basspro crappie maxx pro series, that cost only 39, and feel every bit as crisp and nice for playing fish.

      I still like the Teton trout rod you reviewed a couple of years ago...if it came in 8 and 9 feet I would buy it.

      great rod, a bit tip heavy. Belive it or not, this feels a little lighter, at least in the tip

    I have several in both 1and 2 piece 6/and 6.6 old models. I did pick up for under 70$ last year. I do like them. I did break down and get the new one. The handle is much nicer in my opinion but the play is the same. My only gripe is the guides. Feel the should be nicer for that price point of 119.00. But it's not a huge deal.

    I've been tempted to pick this rod up more than once, butim really not sure about those stainless steel guides at that price. I guess I just assumed they were made of something higher quality. That's truly disappointing.

      they are very thin.. the rod doesn't feel that heavy..

  • @12345B
    @12345B 2 месяца назад +1

    Recovery and blank taper looks great! Weight is a little heavy but not terrible. Bummer it has steel guides, no clue why they can't throw fuji on them, or even a generic SIC guide, I'd be willing to pay 3 or 4 extra bucks for some SIC.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 месяца назад

      is it heavy? How much do they weigh? Didn't feel heavy to me.. maybe its counterbalanced well. Felt very light. Well obviously not $300 JDM kind of weight, but given the price tag they feel light to me

      @12345B 2 месяца назад

      @@ifishcatfish the 6 foot version is 82.12 grams, not terrible but my 6"6 medium blank 155$ shimano expride out of japan with 13$ shipping was 81 grams, and even the 6"4s for 30$ from china come with fuji guides and are 55-60 grams.
      Then again not everyone likes the micro plastic jdm handles and might perfer a heavier cork handle.

      The most valuable thing in these rods is the CHOICE OF BLANK. Someone with experience picked it up. Then, this being a panfish rod, naturally they glued some garbage guides on it... WHY would u need nice guides on a panfish rod, right?

    Interesting take on those rods. I bought the 1 piece 6'6" Ultra Lite, Fast Action TFO Trout and Panfish rod to replace a 7' St. Croix Light Action that shattered on me when I fell on it. (Really bad fall and bad story). It is one of my favorite, if not my favorite UL rod that own. The other one that I love is my Dobyns Sierra 6' 2" Ultra Lite Fast Action which is more "conventional" USA Ultra Lite version of a Bass rod. I have twitched a Trout Magnet on the TFO and love it for that application. I really love playing a fish on it. I have that one paired with a 1000 size Shimano Stradic FM.

    • @jamies5832
      @jamies5832 Месяц назад +1

      How is that Sierra? Fast action? or is it more mod fast? I am looking for something in the 6"-6''6 with more stiffer blank and faster action compared to a slower mod rod

    • @chipseiler1766
      @chipseiler1766 Месяц назад

      @@jamies5832 It's definitely a fast action rod. Check out "fish anything" for his review. His video is what got me to buy it. It's my go to rod and the one I use the most almost every time I'm out. I also really do love the TFO. The downside to it is the handle is kind of thin so I get a hand cramp if I fish it too long. The down side to the Dobyns is the real seat screw. I used to have to tighten it a couple of times every trip and it's sharp. I put a piece of "Magic Self Sealing Silicone Tape" over it to fix that issue. I use that tape instead of electrical tape. NO GLUE! The tip is also very thin. You have to be careful with it. It is pretty sensitive and I love playing fish with it. I had a bluegill hit me so hard today I jumped! Scared the fire out of me. Funny thing was it wasn't very big. About 5 inches. 6 lb. Daiwa J-Braid X8 to a 4 lb. SOS mono leader. If anything ever happens to that rod, I'll replace it! I have the one piece.

      @@jamies5832 The Dobyns Sierra 6'2" is definitely faster than the TFO's. I own the 1st. Gen TFO's in 6' and 6'6" and they're much more of a moderate to moderate fast but not fast (as rated). The Dobyns is better for twitching and I use the TFO's for moving baits or float fishing.

      not that great.. I went to Quantum looking for carp rods, and i can tell you that Quantum MYTH rods cost same price but EVERY COMPONENT is more expensive! Blank is more expensive, frikkin zirconium guides, fuji reel seat... twice the value of this rod.

  • @WhitePerch
    @WhitePerch 2 месяца назад

    It looks like the first guide was a good size and it’s stand off from the rod looks to be at a good distance. Most of the rods (ultra light or light action) first guide are so small or have the wrong placement, the line hits the guide which reduces casting distance

      I sound elitist? You sound bitter! I have every rod under 100$ reviewed on my channel. I put the Legalis reel on the radar. Even in this video, in a pinned comment, u will see my recommendations are all under $100. My previous two videos i disparaged the most popular high end rods in United States. That is very elitist.

I haven’t found another RUclipsr with as much high end reviews because people send him things. I have a Stella and exist I want rod reviews for ones that would be good for them.
