  • Texting and driving are lately becoming one of the most dangerous and biggest problems. Cell phones are one of the most popular car distractions. You may think that text you received is important, but not when you compare it with your or someone else's life.
While you are texting, there are three major things you do without recognizing how dangerous they are:
Having one hand on the wheel weakens your control of the vehicle. If hitting another object occurs, the drivers will most likely lose wheel control.
Eyes off the road which means you are not looking in front of your vehicle. Normally drivers cannot take their eyes off the road more than a fraction of a second. Wherever you look (mirrors, blind spots, speedometer) it should be quick. Accidents happen in less than a second, which means you do not have enough time to react.
Your mind is on your phone: this is the third mistake we don't think of while using cell phones.
Distracted driving is dangerous, contributing to 3,142 deaths on the roads in 2019, nearly a 10% increase from 2018. Cell phone use while driving, including texting, is a major factor. During one month of 2019, 39% of high school students reported texting or emailing while driving.
