Climbing spurs have been used for well over a hundred years, but new climbers use innovative materials and designs to make them lighter and more comfortable. Seemingly small changes in the spur shank, like the angle of the leg iron, width of stirrup, or how the gaff is mounted can end up making a big difference when working on your spurs.

Thanks for the feedback Dave. Really like the Distel DMM spikes. I was kind of suprised not to see or hear your opinion on the Edelrid Talons.
I asked Dave about that, and he said he thought they were way overpriced.
Oh I see 1 and 3/4 is better but might be good to have both.
Im super confused? On the website changes..it went from the best and biggest inventory of supplies and options .the only hard thing was rope by the ft ..to order on a cellular phone..but now its like 80 percent of website is gone. Even in the spikes spur section..also the opsal narrow pads are out and just says when shipment arrives..with no type of estimate wait. ?and yes that Heidelberg gaff is the 🤪 craziest thing ever...I wish all websites had a measurement for all spur sets from ground up to top of the top pad.on it's lowest setting for short guys.it really sucks ordering spikes 600 dollars and or do then having to send them back.also besides brand names what's difference between? Geckos 🦎 and distels..?..the distel.seem better with more adjustments
Have been looking for spurs to fit. Had to cut my other talons off at top shank ..to long..height wise..your distel said tree pole ,and MID..what does mid stand for???plz and thank you..seems like distel is made better what's your thoughts ?

@@aerialrescuesolutions3277 measument from top of pad to ground at the lowest sett8ng adjustment no one does this ..I'm short and needs to be under 14 inches.most every spurs I have to cutt off at least 1 to 2 inches un height with grinder
I hear you, I have seen cut-off shank tops before. It seems a shame to have to modify expensive gear from the start. BUt We modify whatever needs it, that is just how things are.@@Sethhaun78
