My understanding is the ideal position to mount these is at the ceiling and along the longest wall about 1/3 the way from the shorter wall and no less than 4 -6" from wall. You want to be blowing air towards that shorter wall to create the circular air flow.

Good review on the air filter from Grizzly. Did you consider any others and what made you go with Grizzly? Great looking shop too by the way.

When I purchased this filter it was on sale for an absolute steal, so it was a no brainer cost wise. I should point out that there are other filters on the market that offer the identical specs. For example, Wen filters are essentially the exact same and you can save a few bucks going that route. Jet is the same as well, though more expensive. Grizzly is a great choice though because you are actually supporting a lot of good American jobs by going that route (about 300 folks work for them in the US!). They also have the largest parts warehouse of any machinery seller, so they’ll have what’s needed, just in case.

Hello @@RiverbendWoodworks Thanks for the follow up. My uncle has a few larger Grizzly tools and I’ve had the opportunity to use a few of them on some projects working with him. They were well built, heavy duty for sure and seemed to have excellently machined parts. I’m definitely on the bandwagon of supporting local Americans, that is a rare find these days. I do also like being able to get parts that are sourced locally instead of the alternative which usually leads to long wait times. Again, good video and I’m looking at the Grizz now. Have a good day. Matt

Why the Grizzley when the other clones are cheaper, WEN, Shop Fox, etc... Is this different or does it have something the other clones don't?

In all honesty it comes down to support for the product and part availability and filter availability. Grizzly has a massive parts warehouse that is US based and they really try to have every key component you’d need available. I use my air filter daily and, like any machine, it’s gonna need components at some point (not in the least replacement filters), and it’s super easy and quick to get them from Grizzly. That said, saving a few bucks here or there can add up, and i hope the discount code might help with that 😁 Thanks for watching! You’ll love (and totally appreciate!) any hanging air filter you go with though-your lungs will thank you!

I just bought the WEN model 3417. From all my research and the price point I wanted to stay in, it looked like ALL of the "brand name" models were pretty much the same, so guessing all made in maybe 1 or 2 factories, only different names. I like Grizzly, I have their table saw, but the WEN was cheaper for me. About 25 years or more ago, I build my own out of 1/2 inch plywood. Used 2 pre-filters in front, the 3 chamber bag filter in middle, then on the exhaust side, another filter. The blower was twice the size of these today, and moved a HUGE amount of air. Spent less than $300 total for it. Today, it's cheaper to buy one made.

You’re totally right that the Wen and the Grizzly are essentially the same product, just different paint. It’s pretty wild how many wood and metalworking machines for different companies are actually made in the same factory-from bandsaws to table saws and planers. Often, it comes down to paint or a slightly different stamp for the body shell. The rest is basically 1:1 and parts are even interchangeable.

Great video. Hopefully, you will do a project to replace your bag filter that puts 3 micron and smaller particles back into the shop with a cylindrical hepa filter. Your lungs will thank you! Your grizzly will take it down to about 1 micron and the small stuff is what gives people lung disease. A hepa filter will take it down to 0.3 microns. Glad you were using a serious respirator.

Oh nice, I have not heard of a cylindrical-style HEPA grade filter on a hanger, but I love the idea! I do my best to sport my respirator for most cutting and grinding operations because, as luck would have it, it so have a sensitivity to some hardwood dusts. Can never be too careful!

@@brandenkutz9602 they’re a must-have now that I’ve been running this one in my shop. The amount of dust it pulls every month or so is absolutely nuts, and to think that would be air borne long after I cut material is wild. 100% an investment in your health that is worthwhile.

@@RiverbendWoodworks I didn't hang per the direction because of a water heater and furnace (A fear of sawdust in them). I hung them in away that the exhaust towards the garage door and can open the garage door then put the cleaned air out. They do work good and no complaints here about few Grizzly items I have. I do wish they had some Grizzly garage decor thou-a banner and maybe a garage stool with back support. All is good and enjoy your channel!!

I thought about it since, at the time, I did work at Grizzly, but I actually paid for this myself knowing it was a good product and later asked if I could get a discount code for viewers from Grizzly. I don’t get any kickback at all from sales, and hope the code is still working for those looking for a discount. I should add that this filter is very similar (if not identical) to that of Wen or even Jet. The only difference may be color. So when shopping around for a filter I would suggested also considering those if the price point is right. Overall though, I still use my Grizzly filter daily and think of it as an essential part of my shop (and health).
