Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings were both members of the Guess Who.
Burton and Randy recorded some songs together years later as Bachman Cummings, my favorite is Just About Sane!
The concert series you were thinking of was from VH1 and was called "Storytellers"
🥁🥁🥁no time let for you,🎸🎸🎸 canadian icons,🤘🤘🤘
These guys between The Guess who and Bachman Turner Overdrive have an extremely deep rabbit hole of great songs like this ,
Format was fantastic, but these are just songs that are so much better from the studio. No Time is definitely their best song, and they were really, really good.
My hometown boys ❤️❤️ When I was 13 in 1967 I would go to community club dances and the Guess Who would be playing. Randy Bachman is also a great storyteller and surprise surprise friends with Alex Lifeson and Neil Young. (Neil Young also grew up in Winnipeg). There is a song by Randy Bachman and Neil Young called Prairie Town talking about Winnipeg. Also, there is 14 minute version of American Woman live in Winnipeg from their reunion tour in 2004. 🤯🤯🤯 Unfortunately I wasn't at the concert as the tickets went super fast but I think you would really enjoy it. Hope you and your family are feeling better.
Awesome, one of my absolute favourite bands. In ‘67 I was nine.
Running back Across Canada, the whole concert is available on You Tube, amazing concert. They were also in Toronto at SARS stock in 2003, there is a video of American Woman from that incredible concert. Sorry about the extra comment but I just remembered it. Cheers
Just to be sure, Randy Bachman was also in the Guess Who. He quit to form BTO.
Randy and Burton were the heart and soul of BTO.
I dont think Burton was ever in BTO. Randy and he were somewhat estranged for many years after Randy left The Guess Who.
@@uncletom618 correct, I assume that was a mistake saying Burton was in BTO, he went solo and there is no Guess Who without Burton singing so Randy formed another band.
@@graciefolden2359 Randy left first. Burton was in the Guess Who for 5 years after Randy left. They had many hits without Randy. Share the Land, Hand Me Down World, Albert Flasher, Rain Dance, Star Baby, Clap for the Wolfman and Dancin' Fool, to name the big ones.
To think Neil Young grew up in their home town of Winnipeg and they jammed together as teens and remand friends thru life
I think I like this version of UnDun better than earlier ones. Burton’s older voice, the simple but speedy instrumentation and their long experience give a real resonance.
I was at Burton Cummings' 75th birthday party this past New Year's Eve along with about 1600 others. It was a concert in a theater that bears his name here in Winnipeg.
He was telling stories all evening and his voice still sounded great! He apologized that his voice was not up to snuff due to the long layoff due to COVID, but everyone thought he sounded great.
He performed all 4 of these songs along with many other Guess Who, solo, and a few covers mixed in.
Every iteration of these guys is so good.
Such great hits and they didn't even play American Woman in this clip!
The Guess Who one of the greatest R&R bands not in the RRHOF (outrageous). No Time is a killer absolute killer song. There is a great video of the Ringo Star All Star band playing it, with Burton and a whole lot of greats. Thanks for this Justin, these guys are a serious legacy of Canadian music.
Story's behind the songs are great. Whether on the channel or your own time you should watch Randy Bachman's Vinyle Tap Live in Winnipeg. Its on Amazon prime video, maybe elsewhere too.
He tells the story of each of his hits origin.
Thanks for this, Justin
Check out No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature.
Look for Randy’s weekly show Vinyl Tap. He plays recordings and tells stories. I don’t really care if they are true or not. Just entertaining. But as he didn’t drink or do drugs most of that time, his memories are likely pretty good.
I used to listen to GFR & The Guess Who when I was a kid. Great songwriting.
Holy crap. It just occurred to me that you have to do American Woman (The Guess Who / Lenny Kravitz) for one of your Good Cover Bad Cover segments!
As well as multi-segments of Joe Cocker bootstrapping his entire career on Beatles tunes, bien sur.
Shhhh! (Been recorded for weeks and up next!)
Nice
🇨🇦
Maybe something from Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill album?
I don't know if Burton Cummings is having an off night, but I much prefer his performance of "These Eyes" I've seen from the 1970s, when his voice was next level.
4/18/23
It’s unfortunate, but you can see that time had taken a bit of a toll on Burton’s voice.
wow JP, again, the audio is SO bad!
My audio??? Anyone else hearing bad audio?
Its like the record levels were too high, over saturated, though not so bad on Undone
I noticed a little bit of clipping during the songs. Noticeable but not terrible imo.
