    I was expecting people saying the old edition looks better. Read HD Numerique's reviews. Don't you just trust your untrained eye. Learn to spot where dynamic range, true fine detail, etc. are. Don't get deceived by fake sharpening. This new transfer blows the previous one out of the water in every single aspect. Please don't say the previous one looks better. It does not, by any stretch of the imagination. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but please may it be an informed and educated one.

    If you think the bluray looks better than the 4K you are objectively wrong.

    I'm so glad that they handled the movies properly this time.
    It's hard for me to understand how the Blu-rays from 2009 could've been messed up like that in the first place.

    Fans must be furious with how bad this 4k copy looks.

      Those fans who have become accustomed to noticing the negative effects of bad techniques like DNR and Edge Enhancement will quickly realize how abysmally bad the previous Blu-ray edition was.

      what are you talking about???
      The blu-rays of these films were AWFUL, plagued by DNR that finally was got rid of in these new transfers, which look fine.

      @@Slask7 I’m glad you like it. If you look at the closeups you can see the pores on the actors faces disappear going from HD to 4k. A 4k movie should have better resolution at a HD movie. You should be able to see pores with closeups on any 4k resolution film. Now you may not care about resolution, and you just wanted the artificial sharpness turned off and other changes, and that is fine if that was what you hoped for.

      @@periphetes I still don't own the disc, so I can't judge it properly, but the blu-ray was oversharpened and contrast boosted. So what you saw on the blu-ray wasn't definitely more detail...
      As for the "pores" on actors faces, it depends on what the original look and cinematography of the film was. Many films are softer than others (for instance, Superman 1978 in 4K doesn't showcase the same level of detail that you see on the 4K disc of say Raiders of the lost ark, and both are magnificent transfers).
      So, even if there was room for improvement on these 4K transfers of ST, these pictures already show a significant enhancement of grain and texture, which you coudn't see before since they were basically removed by an awful and exaggerated use of DNR. Those blu-rays were among the worst HD transfers ever.

      @@Slask7 To elaborate further, this may not be a transfer problem as far as the resolutions goes. It could be that the cinematographer shot the characters slightly out of focus so as to spare the elderly actors so they didn't look so old. That may be part of it, but it still doesn't look right in other areas.

    Cogemos un Blu ray con DNR y le quitamos el DNR , pero la definicion es peor WTF ? No merece comprarla en 4k y volver a pagar dinero. Que desastre de edicion.

    • @martinddhyj
      @martinddhyj Год назад +4

      The definition isn’t worse.
      The „details“ of the Blu-ray are fake (edge enhancement / digital sharpening).
