    One of the biggest mistakes of Sir Alex was to not play this man in the final of the Champions League (2010-11). He decided to choose players like Hernandez and Owen, over prime Berbatov. I am pretty sure that if the Bulgarian played that night, United could have had a bigger chance of winning it. The downfall of United started, when this man was thrown away for players like Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez.

    As a Bulgarian I am proud of him, but he was so heavily criticized from our media because of the national team. The whole nation was expecting him to score at least 3 goals a match and carry alongside Martin Petron and Stiliyan Petrov. That was unfair. We treated him so badly. While ManU and Totenham's fans loved him more than his own nation. Well I am not sure about Totenham anymore, but ManU's fans loved him as far as I was seeing. He just had such a unique slow paced, intelligent look over the game. Kinda reminds me of Zidane. I remember talking to my father one day and he said: "There's something about him. He is always on the right place at the right time. Like the ball wants to go towards him so he can score". Viewing this clip just makes me confirm that and seeing the good comments just makes me proud that he was the last Bulgarian world class worthy player.

      mm... as scholes has once said - about doing the right thing as a certain player than doing some over the top things on the reason why he never try to over run or do extra step overs despite his talent. It is same with Berba. He does the right thing which is more productive and still stylish and amazing. makes things look so easy peasy...

    • @spd-kv6sd

      Since you're a Villa fan, I guess you should know they are best friends with Stiliyan Petrov. When Berbatov came to CSKA Sofia Stiliyan was the first man to talk to him and get him into the way the team was playing. Later they continued their friendship and transferred their common plays in the Bulgarian national team. Shortly after Stan was diagnosed with leukaemia Berbatov published a letter he had been writing to him for all the years both had been playing football. Now Berbatov is a candidate for president of the Bulgarian Football Union with Stan being one of his assistants.
      Even if I am a Man United fan, I am a Bulgarian before all. And I also will never forget what Stiliyan Petrov did for this team. Both of them were more than awesome players. Stan, the tenacious box-to-box midfielder, who never stops running and wanting the ball. And Berbatov, the striker, who always was two moves before the defenders and always knew what to do with the ball before even touching it. Legends forever. So sad Bulgaria no longer has players like them.

    for some reason Berbatov and Rooney just seems so coordinated together. Both of them had little to no selfishness. Unlike most of the scoring title strikers, both of them are willing and happy to assistant others. Even with greats such as Messi or C Ronaldo, there is still moments you would say may be they should pass that. But with Berbatov and Rooney, its just seems they always making the right choice at the right moment.

      @Kamen Braykov
      Why are Bulgarians so biased towards Berbatov?
      He was no Stoictkov, he achieved nothing with Bulgaria national team, he never won the champions league and for ManUtd he was Berbaflop, a waste of 30million.
      That goal at 2:12 was his only ManUtd goal against a top5 team in his 4 seasons at the club so definitely no statue for him sorry only legends get statues.
      He never won the FAcup either and he singlehandedly cost ManUtd at least 2 FAcup's in semi-finals 2008/09 & 2010/11 and those 2 seasons were actually much better ones from him compared to his other 2 and 2009/10 overall he was abysmal and played a part in destroying ManUtd's bid to win a record 4th PL title in a row, played in the 3rd round FAcup match vs Leeds where ManUtd lost to the 3rd tier team at home, scored no champions league goals etc...He only scored 5 champions league goals altogether in 4 seasons and they were all group stage goals, 2 vs Aalborg in his first season 08/09, 2 at home to Celtic same season and then his next and last was 3 years later in his final season at home to Benfica which still wasn't enough to get through the group. So no important champions league goals or performances worth mentioning.
      His best season 2010/11 Hernandez was still ManUtd's most important striker. He scored just 1 less overall but scored in a lot more games than Berbatov and many close games. A quarter of Berbatov's goals that season came in 1 game vs Blackburn in a 7-1 win which sums him up because it was a game ManUtd would've won anyway without his goals but when it's a much more important time where he has some really good chances vs a better team at 0-0 he misses them, fails to score any and ManUtd go on to narrowly lose.

      @cddb5408 5 лет назад +1

      @@kevinsavuwa Yeah well whatever you call him, it didn't work at ManUtd that's a fact.
      Also he wasn't an important player for the only giant club he ever played for. Him coming to ManUtd made Tevez leave, therefore ManUtd didn't have as much success as they would've maintained with Tevez. Obviously the arrival of Javier Hernandez helped but this was after the 4 in a row record was already lost.

    I still try to understand why SAF leave him out of the team against Barcelona, final UCL ??? In this year he was in top performance and he didn't deserve that from his coach. Anyway we know how finished that final without him !!!!!

    As Saying said,
    'We only appreciate things after we lose it'
    Looking at Berbatov, we need someone like him now to mature up our young striker; Rashford, Martial and Greenwood
    I am very happy with Ole choice to build the team around the youngster, however, we need them to mature up and be more clinical in front of goal, cause thats what we needed in these past 3 games
    Thus, I would love Man Utd to get Ibrahimovic back to the team (on loan), to train, to lead and provide experience and maturity not just to the team and youngsters but for us at the front
    Who's with me? 😁

    Epic ball control when the ball is in the air. Im also bulgarian. As young i used to train soccer and this was one of the first things the coach taught us! Nowdays im not a big football fan, but i can feel the thousands trainings behind those perfect 1-1,5m high ball control. i was attacker, but even i got many hours as a goalkeeper training, just to learn how to controll 1m high ball shoot, which later it looked more like passing.

    Waited years for a replacement for Cantona and when they finally got one they got rid of him. The man was pure class, didn't spend half the game chasing his first touch so was deemed to be lazy, as pure a striker of the ball as has ever been, not a great goal scorer but a scorer of great goals, which is what is needed when the tactics of the manager and the huff and puff of the ordinary players isn't working.
    Golden boot winner yet didn't make the squad for the champions league final and UTD got buried, all Fergusons fault the half witted drunken git, and not the first time, did it with Kanchelskis, Beckham, Phil Neville, Keane, Veron, Forlan, didn't see long term, wanted something instant and that doesn't happen, teams need to evolve.
    Ferguson got lucky with Cantona and the class of '92 but his conceit didn't acknowledge it, was a cheque book manager after that.

    I loved Berbatov so so much! So clever and such a supreme artist of a footballer very much in the mould of Eric, that maybe lacked that little bit of nastiness needed, but still maybe his Ronaldo assist was worth it all by itself! But in the end Tevez suited our style of play so much more & should of been our priority to have kept.
