- I took a solo trek through the American West on my way back home from college this summer. I visited 5 national parks and 6 states on the way and saw countless views and had thousands of experiences on my 10 day solo road trip. I didn’t spend a single of the 10 nights in a hotel, and camped in a tent next to my Toyota Tacoma the whole time, rain or shine, wind or calm. Mountains changed to desert as I progressed onward through the Colorado Plateau, one of the most unique areas in the nation.
You can see photography I’ve taken from this trip and other places on my Instagram, @_jacktarwater.photos
Bright Star Campsite, mentioned in the video, can be found at www.brightstarcampground.com/
Durango Bagel can be found at menuguide.com/CO/Durango/Dura...
If you’re going to Arches I recommend getting reservations for entries well in advance, and camping like a year in advance, it’s an extremely limited experience. If you go to arches, go to Black Canyon of the Gunnison too, it is well worth the drive.
Locations I camped:
Sacred White Shell Mountain, Mosca, CO
Bright Star Campground, Cortez, CO
South Rim Campground, Montrose, CO
North Klondike Campground, Moab, CO
National Parks:
Great Sand Dunes
Mesa Verde
Black Canyon of the Gunnison
Arches

States:
