- Phil and Kate react to the 2006 film "Rocky Balboa" and Kate has never seen it before!🥊
Now long-retired, Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) runs a Philadelphia eatery and mourns the loss of his beloved wife, Adrian. Yearning to recapture a bit of his glory days, he plans to re-enter the ring for a few low-profile, local matches. All that changes when Rocky accepts a challenge to fight the world's reigning heavyweight champion, Mason "the Line" Dixon (Antonio Tarver).

The fight you see in this movie was filmed right after an actual boxing match. They were given permission to use the cameras and everything. After the match they told the audience what was going on, about a Rocky Movie and if they wanted to stay and watch and be in it. No body left, so what you're seeing are real people cheering and enjoying the moment.
Back in 2006 I couldn’t believe that this movie would be released…is hard to believe that this movie is almost 20 years old already. We need more heroes like Rocky Balboa
I think Marie's speech to Rocky in the car is seriously underrated. Fighters fight. She really channeled Adrian in Rocky 3 in that moment to me.
Don't forget to check out Paulie's criminally deleted scene!
rocky in his own words, was never happy with rocky 5, and he didnt want it to finish that way, thats why he made this one, and he knocked out the park, my fav rockies in order 2. 1. balboa, 3. 4 and 5 , i was brought up with these movies, im 60 years old
Stallone’s words, not Rocky’s.
My list is exactly the same
@@onespark100 Rocky certainly wasn't happy in Rocky V, either.
Rocky 4 was my favorite growing up. My dad brought me to the movie theater on thanksgiving when it came out.
The most recent thing Stallone's said publically about "Rocky V" was during a 2020 Facebook Live watchalong of the first movie: "I think it's underrated." He's changed his mind since that one interview years ago everyone likes to bring up.
Born and raised in Philly, ya gotta keep going and react to CREED. The first 2 are my favorites!! Without giving too much away, it continues with Rocky franchise. You will absolutely Love!!!!
Seems like we are missing out! We will definitely be doing that
Yes to me Creed is a Rocky movie
Stallone is amazing in Creed 1 and 2, He won Golden Globes best supporting actor for Creed 1 (and nominated for Oscar)
The Rocky Statue is the second most visited place in Philly, next to the Liberty Bell.. Over 4 Million visitors a year.
I had low expectations for this movie, but now it's my favorite 'Rocky'. As you get older you start losing your heroes. Rocky faces both life and death heroically (my favorite scene is when he waves goodbye at the end).
That talk to the health commission people was based in reality. Lots of movie studios turned this down, and he was like I'm pursuing my happiness but nobody seems to happy about it. Thought you'd like that tidbit of info
So here's the deal with the brain damage stuff from "Rocky V":
In March of 2006, Stallone had a sneak preview of "Rocky Balboa" in Philadelphia and the run time of that version was close to 2 1/2 hrs. There were scenes where Rocky took brain tests and they discovered that he had been misdiagnosed back in the day because technology now is much better than it was in 1986 (where "Rocky V" starts out; apparently what Rocky was revealed to have really had was a severe concussion). MGM told Stallone they weren't releasing a 2 1/2 hr Rocky movie and to cut it down to an hour forty-five. Amongst the many scenes that had to go was all of the stuff dealing with "Rocky V," chiefly because it wasn't germane to the story at hand ("You've passed your tests with flying colors and we congratulate you for that" was deemed "good enough" by MGM).
When Stallone was doing the talk show circuit for "Balboa," the brain damage in V thing was still fresh on everybody's minds and all the hosts asked him about it and Stallone would explain why Rocky's okay now since MGM made him take that stuff out and it wasn't in the movie anymore.
George Foreman made a comeback two decades after he lost the heavyweight title.
Mike Tyson is fighting Jake Paul this summer.
This is the second movie in a row Rocky fought a real life pro boxer.
who do you have between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul? to me its hard to imagine Mike Tyson losing lol
Actually there is a third if you include a pro kick boxer with Dolph Lundgren in Rocky IV.
@vincenzo4jm incorrect. Dolph Lundgren did a brilliant job playing the fictional Russian boxer Ivan Drago in Rocky IV but no, Lundgren is not or never has been a real life professional boxer. He was a talented martial artist back in the day, specialising in Kyokushin karate.
@@havok6280 oh my bad, I knew Dolph did competitive kick boxing matches. I was thinking he was a pro fighter.
The original Rocky 3 statue was moved down to street level and a new statue was recently put in at the top of the steps. Friend of mine and her son made the walk up the steps a year or two ago when they went to Philly for their birthdays. Walking up those steps is one of my bucket list items.
This movie is the best in the series. Defines his character..its pretty much perfect 🎉
16:48 the official story is that the technology improved and showed his injury is not as bad as it was once perceived.
I've never understood why so many people think that there might be something between him and little Marie the fact that he calls her that should give it away that he doesn't see her in any romantic way
CREED REALLY EXPANDS ROCKY'S STORY
My favorite in the core Rocky film series is right here.
It's really close between this one and Rocky 1, it's hard to say. It's amazing that it's even a discussion that the sixth installment of a series competes with the first one 🤯
Gotta watch those Creed films if you want to see “certain characters”😂
Paulie misses Adrian, and is ashamed of how he treated her😢. The statue is off to the side of the stairs they didn't want it in the way
such a heavy scene. and good I'm glad that the statue is at least close by
@@filmbendersYou should watch the deleted scene with Paulie from this movie. It's terrific.
I am ROCKY'S number one fan and i watch every reaction on youtube, and I gotta say, I loved all of your reactions, you did it!!! PLEASE WATCH ALL CREED's
Rocky I: Rocky gets his big break
Rocky II: Rocky establishes his foundation
Rocky III: Rocky overcomes major adversity
Rocky IV: Rocky is on top of the world
Rocky V: Rocky goes back to his roots
Rocky Balboa: Rocky has one last stand
creed continues the story.. this is not the end... I dont understand why people say that... creed is the best rocky film since the original...
Rocky Balboa is the final Rocky movie, Creed is a different franchise, it features Rocky but it’s not a Rocky movie it’s a Creed movie hence the name…
I loved this film. Crazy it came out 16 years later.
right? didn't miss a beat
Right. Creed felt the same way
I hope you guys will continue with the Creed movies. I don’t see them as spin-offs but as a continuation of the series.
also, this fight, was filmed at a full fight programme in vegas, the crowd is reall, the commentators are real, they had limited time to film it between the real fights on the show card, thats why the filiming looks different from rocky, but like a real true fight
that makes a lot of sense! thanks for sharing!
That's not why it looks that way, that's a creative choice, but you're right about them filming between real fights.
Rocky Won this fight exactly how he "lost" his first fight with Apollo... split decision...
He lost both fights by split decision...
I love the way they decided to end those fights, absolutely perfect
yes the brain heals.
Amazing reaction. This movie was SO unexpected and incredible. I thought it was a great final chapter to the Rocky narrative.... until Creed somehow made it even better.
As far as what to watch next, you can do a modern movie AND continue with the Rocky journey. 😁👍 You'll LOVE Creed 1 & 2.
haha nice! we want to branch out to different movies for a little, but we will 100% be reacting to the Creed movies!
@@filmbenders Oook. Us crotchety old men can be patient! 😂
best sylvester stallone acting would be in "copland"... you guys would really appreciate it.
Creed! It’s fantastic.
Can’t wait for Creed!
Must watch Creed now.
MUST.
The Rocky Saga ends with Creed II
You need to watch the alternate ending…..
Ei não parem, ainda tem os filmes de creed, que são sensacionais!
Please do the Creed Series as well !!!!
the staute is stiill there they just moved it to the bottom, there was a reason, i can remember, but its still there, i dont phily would let that go lol
GOOD
You should check out the Creed films if you haven't done so yet.
GREAT REACTION! Watch the alternative ending showing Rocky Balboa winning the decision! PLEASE, PLEASE watch Stallone's 1981 "Nighthawks" THEE MOST UNDERRATED COP MOVIE OF ALL TIME - I promise. New York Cop Deke DaSilva (Stallone) fights international terrorism in America 20 years before 9-11-2001! ENJOY!
please add warrior with tom hardy to your list, amazing MMA movie
we LOVE that movie! So underrated. Definitely one I wish I could watch it for the first time again
@@filmbenders try best of the best, old 80s movie but classic emotional one
Reaja a CREED 1 e 2.
Marie is a different person. The original Marie was a girl named Jodi. I went to school with her.
you need to do the creeds, i wont spoiler it, but they are as good, and somewhere drago, might be seen
You don't want to spoil it, but also here's a spoiler. 🙄 C'mon man.
