Hearing the story being told in such an neutral way, makes me thank about what-ifs in Westeros' history. What if Ned never went South? If he'd actually told Robert about his children? If Rob Stark would have refused the tittle King of the North, so secure an alliance with the true Baratheons. If Renly wasn't a dipshit and supported his brother, so the Milisandras demon thingy, would have killed Joffrey in stead, and high garden wouldn't have flocked to the Kings aid. So many whatifs when you look at it in a neutral position.
All of the options presented for the crown are pretty terrible. You have Ned Stark 2.0 in Jon: who would be easy to betrayed due to his undying "honor". The dragon queen who had trouble holding a city and lost all holdings as soon as she left them (Astapor and Yunkai): Imagine her ruling a large country. She even went as far to infer that she would "break" the political wheel which would destabilize Westeros, somehow more than it is now, assuring that their would be a nearly unending power struggle and governmental in fighting under her rule and likely until its end. The batshit mother who sucks at being a mother. A woman who decided claimed the thrown because hey why not? Someone who has proven to be inapet at everything but her plots, relying on trusted lackeys rather than having apart in them. A viking with ideas of grandeur, a man who sees him self as a new Aegon. The bark of a great Dane but the bite of a Pomeranian. A man ruthless enough to kinslay up the political ladder when he has no heir.
Question. Would Jon now be called King Jon Stark bc he was named King in the North and therefore the leader of House Stark? I know in truth his mother is a Stark and not his father, but they don't know that.
awesome video!! just a question though, when you were talking about sam going to the citadel you showed the hightower they're not the same thing are they?
"Wife, mother, and brother-in-law". It's likely the lack of sleep at the root of this, but I thought they were the same person for a moment. Because, you know; Lannister.
10:18 _"(Bran) learned that his Aunt Lyanna gave birth to a child fathered by Rhaegar Targaryen."_ --CivilizationEx Is that clarified in Dan and Dave's TOJ scene? I only saw that Bran learned (1) who Jon's mother was, (2) that a few Kingsguard were holding her and newly born Jon in the tower for some reason, and (3) that Baby Jon's endangered status indicates his absent father must have been some kind of threat to Robert Baratheon. The Usurper King had many political enemies throughout the South, though, and anyone of them could have been the father for all Bran has witnessed at the TOJ. The presence of some Kingsguard could hint at Rhaegar's involvement, or it could mean that one of them was the father. The answer wouldn't be apparent to Bran with what we're given in the scene, because it's not even clear whether the Kingsguard are protecting Lyanna or holding her captive. And in her death bed dialogue with Ned, Lyanna would have had no reason whatsoever to state the obvious about who the father was, so Bran wouldn't have had any such revelation to overhear. If the R+L abduction rumors had been commonly known among the Stark children, Bran could have jumped to the conclusion that Rhaegar might be Jon's father, but it's unlikely that Ned would have let his kids in on those rumors. So is it really certain that Bran has learned the identity of the man who knocked up Lyanna?
That was my question: the audience -- through sources outside the _GoT_ series -- may have learned that Rhaegar was Jon's father, but has Bran learned it yet?
By that point the Lannisters control most of the Riverlands and if they spotted an army from the vale probably though they were going to help support Ramsay, since they believed Littlefinger and Ramsay were both with the Lannisters.
A prelude to season 1 would be great, even though the entire "History of Westeros" series is amazing, I think a 15-20 minute video summarizing everything someone who knows nothing about GoT or ASOIAF should know before they start watching the show would be great.
Wait. 303? Are you sure? The first season takes place in 298 and a tiny bit before, I believe. A Joffery marries Margaery on new years day of 300. I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think season 5-6 happen within 3 more years. I could be wrong, but I don't think so
The book timeline and show timeline are different. In the books it all happens within 3 years, in the show every season equals one year, in order to account for the children growing up so quickly.
Melisandre or however you spell her name she is on Arya's list for taking away Gendry and possibly the Hound/Sandor clagain if she finds out he's alive.
Can't wait for season 7 #UnbowedUnbentUnbroken btw you totally forgot about Tyrion part, and he is one of main characters and if i remember well played in the largest number of episodes of all cbaracters
now that i think bout it, i think your right, i just knew from the books it was bloodraven and so didnt really pay much attention when he introduced himself to bran :D
when did he burn people in the show for only the reason of them not accepting the lord of light ? when he burned alester florent he burned him for betraying him and burning edric storm was to wake stone dragon in dragonstone and if stannis is azor ahai like I think he is the dragons would help him win the throne and ultimately save the realm
Yeah I think Sansa's gonna screw over Jon when he forms the fellowship of the north and goes beyond the wall. I don't believe she is buying the whole white walker thing and also Little finger can play anyone except Varys and Olenna.
AR21 I think she will be slightly swayed against Jon but ultimately I dont think she'll betray him especially since she's more pissed at little finger for shipping her to ramsay
AR21 Well Sansa has been learning how to play the game from LF, she already knows not to trust him - "Only a fool would trust Little Finger". Plus her quote from the trailer is about the Starks sticking together.
+Creepy Closet . I don't know man. She was raised by Lannisters in kings landing. And we all know that the only ones they care about are themselves. Her losing her direwolf and her killing of Ramsey was a telling sign that she has lost her connection with the north. Starks sentence their enemies by their own hands(i e Jon, Arya, Ned). She is the only one who killed Ramsey like a Bolton would. And also not taking LF's help in the first time and keeping the news from Jon is another matter. Maybe she had a plan of her own concerning her own survival
I personally think Dany is a better contendor, and not because of the Dragons, but because of the amazing advisors she has - Tyrion and Varys She has exercised power in Meeren, she knows how to rule GRRM prepared her for it, that's why it took so long for her to get to Westeros, not because GRRM needed a plot, but because he wanted to make Daemerys an actual ruler Also, she has MOTHERFUCKING OLENNA TYRELL LIKE CERSEI IS DEAD
slappy2013 Robert also won the throne by right of conquest, the throne still belongs to the Baratheons, even if the sole remaining member is a bastard.
I bet Samwell Tarly is going to become a wizard. i followed these videos and realized that wizards do exist in GoT universe. plus somewhere in an episode samwell did say he wanted to be one
9:30 "A Thousand Year Old"... Really?! Bloodraven was a bastard son of Aegon the Unworthy, meaning he is less than 300 years. Unless the show screwd him even more.
He is different in the show. In the books he is Bloodraven, but in the show they never say his name and he says at one point he has been waiting for a thousand years.
BigBooty well she hasn't really got anyone else there she trust the one she married was supposed to rule the city when she left but thats not happening
No man we didn't see it Stannis is still out there and he will return in season 7 and hes alive in the books obv you know that anyway I love your videos man the lore you do is amazing but seriously gotta show some love to stannis man hes the true king
Maegor was exiled when he took a second wife. He then usurped the throne from his nephew and killed him and went on a bloody rampage against the faith and married multiple other women, some by force. So Maegor isnt exactly very good support for the idea that Rhaegar could have legitimately married Lyanna Stark. Maegor also had dragons, specifically Balerion and Vhagar to back him up. Rhaegar had no dragons nor was he even a king.
+Drogon The Black Dread Returned Aegon the conqueror also had multiple wives, it's not a perfect argument but enough for an army to get behind if need be
Yes but Aegon married both of his sister-wives before they began their conquest. The Faith even accepted him as the one true king and crowned him, thus over looking his multiple wives
I have one question, why everyone is telling that Lyanna and Rhaegar could be married? It's against the law. And when last Targaryen king maried two woman, he started civil war. And it was over 250 years before.
Yes, but that was 300 years before. And many Septons and Maesters were against Aegon because of that. Aegon fought with rebelions rest of his life. And his son Maegor was exciled because of this. And those two were only ones who maried more that one woman.
No, he had only his sister Naerys as wife. He had many mistresses, but they weren't his wives so childrens were still bastards. And yes, polygamy isn't legal in Westeros.
none of them will win in the end. Jon will be the last one standing but ultimately reject the crown, giving power to the people. Think about it everyone in this show thus far who has sought power has died doing so. This is about the end of monarchy, not the perpetuation of it.
Little finger may be great at scheming and playing the game of thrones but how in the hell could he ever ascend to the throne??? he has very few allies and everyone distrusts him. the only army he may have is the riverlands' and that's not enough, once he got close to the throne he would be murdered for sure. it's pretty cool that he set so many things in motion but c'mon it's such an unrealistic ambition
There is precedent for kings to practice polygame but they never got away with it. Aegon only did because he did it before accepting the Faith, Maegor has uprisings at every corner and subsequent Targaryens who wanted more than one wife were told NO. If Rhaegar got married with Lyanna, his marriage would be null and void and Jon would still be a bastard., so no, he doesn't have a stronger claim than Daenerys.
Aegon is rhaegar's son?!?! So daenerys is older than aegon?!?! But aegon is alr old (pictured in brans vision when hes screaming "burn them all") What the fuck man, you just mind fucked me.
Aegon was Rhaegar's son, but the man in the vision was Aerys, Rhaegar's father, that's why he was an old man. Aegon died as a baby. But if he had lived, he would have been older that Daenerys by a little bit.
Its obvious from every decision that he makes (based on both book and tv), jon carries his heart on his sleeve. He is bad at the game of thrones. Prime examplle, sansa told him not to do what ramsay wants him to do, and what does he do, he does exactly what ramsay wanted him to do. He works on emotion and not logic. The only reason he won the BoB is because of sansa. Dany had her problems with mereen, primarily because in the books she had bad scheming, advisors. But she was still able to see through them and if the tv show is to be believed. She will control mereen by fire and blood. Tyrion is the smartest but always has an uphill battle..
New video from civilizationEx, drops everything im doing and goes and watches it straight away with a drink and a snack
:)
:(|)
the only way to do it
Made my day!
Cayde-6 ,
Correction: At 2:58 Rhaegal is green while Viserion is pale gold.
I love your videos, the illustrations and content is so detailed and well made. :)
Thank you! I like your videos as well :)
I like the way you narrate those facts, very unbiased and "historic".
Excellent video man. And the timing is right on with season 7 right around the corner.
If you like the videos be sure to turn on notifications!
CivilizationEx You forgot what happened to Rickon
why would he be on her list? she doesn't know he betrayed her father
I did! Excellent videos! Love the illustrations too. Such a great channel
When Civ X uploads a new video and I immediately watch it dude you're awesome keep it up
Thank you! :)
One heck of a summary. Great job Civ Ex!
im glad youtube brought me here
Brilliant video as always.
BIg fan of your work. Another great job!
awesome seasons 1-6 summary! Anyone new to GOT TV series can watch this and be up to speed for season 7.
very thorough
great video!
Great recap. 10/10
Beautiful job.
Nice! More GoT content! Congrats on the channel growth. Been a sub for a while.
As always, on point.
Great summary of a LOT of information!
whos hyped for season 7!!!! Nice vid btw im a subscriber.
Thank you, good sir :) I already forgot that Kevan died in the series
Please, when have the Lannisters of the Westerlands and Starks of the North ever cooperated? It seems they can't ever get along!
beheading a father of someones family to show power dominance is not exactly somewhat a piece that can be restored
Nighthawk Grayson rob start did that too
Was working had to take a break to watch this
I love how your representation on Dario has blue hair. If only the show had stayed honest to his description in the book
Excellent💯👍👏 work💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Ser Illyn Payne is also on Arya's list

These character depictions had me dying!!!! Especially Cersei. OMFG!!!!
You are the best! Just one thing; it's really hard to read the blue texts when they're really small
3:00 you got the two dragons names mixed up. Rhaegal is the green one and Viserion is the gold one.
All of the options presented for the crown are pretty terrible. You have Ned Stark 2.0 in Jon: who would be easy to betrayed due to his undying "honor".

Corrupted Archangel And let's not forget the ice demons and their zombie hordes who want nothing more than to kill everyone
I know man I want stannis back hes the best option for the throne
Thats why Littlefinger/CIA will win.
That is why no one will win, not even me.
yeah actually stanins or renly would have been the 2 best options i can think bout
Filmfabrik bester game of thrones kanal
a person new to thrones would benefit greatly from a video like this!
Dany should have landed in dorne...woulda saved her a lot of trouble😂
Question. Would Jon now be called King Jon Stark bc he was named King in the North and therefore the leader of House Stark? I know in truth his mother is a Stark and not his father, but they don't know that.
Daenerys Targaryen he is called King Jon Snow not Stark
I wonder sense he is a king couldn't he legitimise himself
Jack J That was my thinking
awesome video!! just a question though, when you were talking about sam going to the citadel you showed the hightower they're not the same thing are they?
In the show they appear to be the same thing, in the books they are separate.
You guys should definitely do Elder Scrolls lore videos.
"Wife, mother, and brother-in-law". It's likely the lack of sleep at the root of this, but I thought they were the same person for a moment. Because, you know; Lannister.
I was born to rule the Seven Kingdoms and I will🔥💥🐲🔥💥🐲
where's Podrick and Gendry?
Pod is with Brienne and Sansa, Gendry we don't know.
Gendry is in kingslanding or rowing his boat some say he is in the jade sea
10:18 _"(Bran) learned that his Aunt Lyanna gave birth to a child fathered by Rhaegar Targaryen."_ --CivilizationEx
Is that clarified in Dan and Dave's TOJ scene? So is it really certain that Bran has learned the identity of the man who knocked up Lyanna?
Jason Cavitt HBO released a chart that said Lyanna and Rhaegar are Jon's parents to confirm the theory
Jason Cavitt but I am not sure how Bran will know
That was my question: the audience -- through sources outside the _GoT_ series -- may have learned that Rhaegar was Jon's father, but has Bran learned it yet?
Jason Cavitt Everyone knew that Robert's Rebellion started cause Rhaegar kidnapped Lyanna. She was locked in that tower. Who else?
I thought CivEx only does videos based on the book and not the tv show?
+Sho Goh mostly, but not exclusively. I have a series recapping the seasons of the show as well
Wait during the battle of the bastards how was the vale able to get their forces pass the tullies to help Jon?
By that point the Lannisters control most of the Riverlands and if they spotted an army from the vale probably though they were going to help support Ramsay, since they believed Littlefinger and Ramsay were both with the Lannisters.
What about GENDRY

awesome!
You got the Dragons wrong at 2:58, keep up the good work though...:)
Shoot! :(
Wait!!! What about tyrion lannister??? Probably the reason the show is doing so well
6:13 Wher is house seaworth?
the vedio is four the tv show
House Seaworth is in the Stormlands in the show as well, and don't really have much to offer since they are a new house and dont have an army.
CivilizationEx thay got a good diplomat tho
True.
Randyll Tarly's a goner. He's dragon snacks
12:32 So many awesome illustrations, and then, a pye.... LOL
I'm still wondering, who are house maizen and who are they sworn too?
its a northern house sworn to house stark they are not mentioned in the books
The whole season6 and season 7 trailer in one video
Can't wait for season 7
#UnbowedUnbentUnbroken
btw you totally forgot about Tyrion part, and he is one of main characters and if i remember well played in the largest number of episodes of all cbaracters
i was about to go to the toilet... but now i need to watch this
i know i have problems
Queen Olenna Tyrell, All hail queen of thorns
Ser Illn Pain (incorrect spelling) is not yet dead and was on Arya's list, you left him out??
actually the 3 eyed raven or greenseer isnt 1000years old, hes bloodraven a couple of hu dred years but definetly not 1000 years
That's in the books, in the show it's different, he says himself he is a thousand years old in the episode Oathbreaker.
now that i think bout it, i think your right, i just knew from the books it was bloodraven and so didnt really pay much attention when he introduced himself to bran :D
isn't ser ilyn payne alive and on arya's list in the show? and the red woman too and some of the brotherhood?
i Cried when i saw the wolfs list in the end :(
God bless them soul's. 👍🖒🖖🤘🖐✊💜💖💟💙💗❣💌
what program did you use? to make the viedo...
If Ed is the 999th leader of the Nights Watch, i wonder who'll be number 1000.
FeathertopDT we'll probably find out before the end of the show
FeathertopDT Jamie Lannister.
Stannis Baratheon is the one true king of westeros are u a fan of the true king ?
yeah right.
what do you mean
I think it's obvious. What do you think I mean.
? he burned no one who did not deserve it he only burned people who betrayed him
when did he burn people in the show for only the reason of them not accepting the lord of light ? when he burned alester florent he burned him for betraying him and burning edric storm was to wake stone dragon in dragonstone and if stannis is azor ahai like I think he is the dragons would help him win the throne and ultimately save the realm
Yeah I think Sansa's gonna screw over Jon when he forms the fellowship of the north and goes beyond the wall. I don't believe she is buying the whole white walker thing and also Little finger can play anyone except Varys and Olenna.

Welcome to movie phone!
I personally think Dany is a better contendor, and not because of the Dragons, but because of the amazing advisors she has - Tyrion and Varys
She has exercised power in Meeren, she knows how to rule
GRRM prepared her for it, that's why it took so long for her to get to Westeros, not because GRRM needed a plot, but because he wanted to make Daemerys an actual ruler
Also, she has MOTHERFUCKING OLENNA TYRELL
LIKE CERSEI IS DEAD
Muhamed Opačin I feel Olenna and the sand snakes are screwed. Dany ain't just gonna take the throne.
Incorrect.
Muhamed Opačin She ain't got what it takes bruh
Before everyone just addresses the issues which were rooted from slavery, reminder: Westeros doesn't have slavery.
slappy2013 Robert also won the throne by right of conquest, the throne still belongs to the Baratheons, even if the sole remaining member is a bastard.
It's ok guys , I will become a dragonslayer
I bet Samwell Tarly is going to become a wizard. i followed these videos and realized that wizards do exist in GoT universe. plus somewhere in an episode samwell did say he wanted to be one

Hmm he did? I missed that, what episode?
It was in Oathbreaker I think, he says it casually, something like "I have waited a thousand years for you."
STILL WAITING ON THAT ALT-SHIFT X COLLAB LOL!
Why the fuck did Dany give Meereen to Daario?! He's a fucking mercenary captain, not a magister!
BigBooty well she hasn't really got anyone else there she trust the one she married was supposed to rule the city when she left but thats not happening
The Hound was also on Arya's list but she believes he died.
Didn't Aegon also marry his 2 sisters
why did you say all 5 are dead stannis is not dead ?
Stannis died last season, Brienne killed him in the show.
No man we didn't see it Stannis is still out there and he will return in season 7 and hes alive in the books obv you know that anyway I love your videos man the lore you do is amazing but seriously gotta show some love to stannis man hes the true king
no one knows if he is alive but last time we saw him brienne was swinging a sword at him and in the books it says he was killed in the pink letter
Brianne said she killed him though when she was talking to davos and melisandre.
the pink letter was a lie man stannis is in the winds of winter leak
Isn't ser illyn payne in the list???
Maegor was exiled when he took a second wife. He then usurped the throne from his nephew and killed him and went on a bloody rampage against the faith and married multiple other women, some by force. The faith's opinion won't matter after all this, whoever has the strongest army will make the rules.
The three eye crow isn't a 1000 year old he is like 150
That's in the books, in the show he's the 3 eyed Raven and he is over 1000. Not the same character from the books.

It would make more sense if he wanted to control the one sitting the throne. Not sit the throne itself. Much safer, much better.
yup

Lambeflores He didn't have a claim over the Stark house too but they all rallied behind him. its all upto the people in the end
lmao why daario got blue hair
Just a nod to the books where he has blue hair.
+CivilizationEx oh right, haven't read them. I'm assuming they're a good read.
@@famey7332 they are. Books are way better than the show.

Jon is stupid and not fit to rule. He is a clone of ned. They are honorable but will be easy to betray. Denaerys and tyrion are better leaders
I think it's obvious that Jon is not stupid. Ned Stark would not have survived this long.
Shady Tyrell Jon wouldnt have survived this long if he wasnt revived from the dead..
thelousyllama cersei is better
Gendry could be better than Jon and the rest, but stupid showrunners love Gaynaerys and will only give Gendry the Stormlands.
Its obvious from every decision that he makes (based on both book and tv), jon carries his heart on his sleeve. He is bad at the game of thrones.
