The idea of addressing comments in a feedback video is a great way of responding to the important points people make. I think this could really catch on!
I really enjoyed this vid, Wytse. One of the things that I applaud about this channel is that you are always contextualising your comments in regards to your preferences, workflow, etc. you are unafraid, as is evidenced in this video, to say that you left something out in a review, or even that you may be wrong about something. You invite conversation as opposed to being the ‘sage on the stage (as we say in ‘higher Ed’) and I think that is important. Thanks for all that you do!
This format is super valuable. It isn't just an explanation but also a better insight into your thought process. Your analog and most of us are digital. We watch you for your different perspective.
legit video. I own an apb and I love it. As for the eq, I reached out to mcdsp to ask them, the eq is not fully analog, but it does run through the analog gear post digital eq. It’s not that it’s too big, it’s that they were having heat issues with eq in there as well. So they cancelled the analog eq and stuck with compressors and saturation circuits. I hope they eventually come out with an 8 channel analog eq apb, if they can figure out the heat issue.
I am so glad you hat the opportunity to get the EQ. It was so obvious how much you liked it, that excitement was real. And that is, why I like watching your reviews. There are these emotional differences in how you react.
I would agree on making EQ circuits compact enough for 1u is well possible. It's not very difficult to make a compact gyrator (inductor simulation, you would need this in a EQ for a resonant filter) these days. Modern solid state switching makes it also possible to make multi-topology circuits on a small footprint without sacrificing performance. If you look at vintage hardware it's exactly like Wytse showed: there is a lot of air in the boxes. Modern engineering makes it possible to also make thermal management more efficient and building more compact hardware.
Great idea, like the format. My initial impression with the mcdsp review was that I thought it be a box with a dsp chip in it because of the name. But I realised during the review that it is not a dsp based box but it did confuse me.
I'm really thrilled to see that a well-known figure among mixing and mastering engineers has equipment from a company founded by my fellow countryman in their arsenal!
Ik heb het idee dat je zo heel goed kan laten zien/merken dat je ook gewoon een persoon bent. Dingen die je vergeten bent te melden, fouten corrigeren, vragen naar feedback "had ik dit ander moeten doen" etc. Goed beizg!
I love your channel. Please, can you make a series about conversion, or using hybrid setups? Nobody really talks about it in a deep and tecnical way, and it would help a lot of us. We can transpose things for our, you know casstte tape mixdown or guitar pedals for mixing... just a way to do it professionally without destroying our signal. Again, thanks love your channel, you are awesome.
McDSP APB is remarkable. Took me 4 years to decide to get one and see if McDSP would add more plugins and support TB3 which they have done. I’ve tested the APB against some of the best software plugins and the APB wins out every time. Some folks really don’t understand how the APB works. Also regarding their EQ’s in APB, they are digital. However, they also hit the analogue transformer output path which adds more mojo to them. Again, I haven’t found a software EQ plugin that sounds as good.
They make EQ in 500 series haha!! The comment about their not being enough space wasn't a very educated comment. Heck I have a full channel strip in my 500 series rack (2 technically but one is very limited in controls because it also has a preamp)! Compressor, saturation, and 4 band EQ. If they can fit it in a 500 series module they certainly can fit it in a 19" rack.
Nice vid. I like your style. ps. I like to hear your opinion about Black Rooster Magnetite. I tested trial version but I found tape 7 better. I have UAD Oxide too and I do not like it either. Is it time to new tape machines shoot out?
i will say them having "dsp" in the name did confuse me, it is cool that its mostly analog though, i just cant say it excites me too much, and the slightly condescending comments defending it in the original video taints it a tad for me as well (though it really shouldnt), its each to their own though i guess
inside of apb-8 , looks verry digital imo, doesnt look like analogue equipment, but i'm no expert (@ the end of the video ) ruclips.net/video/goa_T93I9Tc/видео.html
Tubes: Was in a band in the 90s with a singer who was an electrical engineer. He said they can 100% replicate tubes in solid state. I argued it was the un-predictability of the tubes (environmental) that cannot be replicated. Today there is still this argument. There is no solid state Random Number Generator that is a true RNG. True RNG must use some un-predictable environmental element (temperature, humidity, gravity, heat, power fluctuation) to be truly random. Today SS still cannot replicate a tube for audio warmth.
please don't bring politics into your game man, NAFO trolls will take over under the influence of copious amounts of copium, and ruin the comment section.

Congrats for your new EQ! That's awesome.

Where is the best TotalMix tutorial ever?
I need that
I don't think it exists
@@jackc8120 yes, cause recording is more tecnical and mixing is more artistic (in some degree, cause its about feeling even being really tecnical).
I still want to produce one
Barry Johns has one
dank voor je inzet, Topper!!!

Thanks and yes please, more like that.
Video Idea: Play the White sea studio ident bumper video in every studio you can find on full volume! that 20hz bump still gives me a smile!!
The idea is great!! Thanks and keep on going!

YESSS, please more of this, id love to see your reactions to some of the claims ive seen under your videos

great! love this new segment! pls pls pls more of that😊
Isn't there some 500 series rack boxes that have Digital Conversion as well as recall!!?? I think one even has a patch bay built in.
Nice video! Would love to see you react on camera more often!

on board!! keep'em coming!!
Enjoyed this video, more please! 😎
How much for the recall + how much for the sound = total price 😅
Are cheaper Recalls solutions exist ?
Once again Wytse. You will always have haters commenting. Just ignore them.
We, your true fans are here for you! ❤️
Keep up the good work! 👏
I love this channel so much.
I like the Dutch accent!
And I like the Dutch food....
And ... this channel, and this guy.
Greetings from Germany.

What politics did he bring in the vid?
