The Gurus, one of our greatest ever bands imo. The car was a Holden EJ (or EH, I can never tell the diff) which is a GM designed and made in Australia.
Mr Son of Buck, this may be one of my favorite Australian songs. So pleased you enjoyed it and please share among friends. All the best mate, stay with Australia. We love your work.
Brilliant band to see live. Seen them a few times over the years and thursday week this old bastard will be in the front row at the forum in Melbourne rocking my ass off with the gurus
Hoodoo Gurus were the first band I ever saw live in 87. And they are the band I have seen the most by far. Great live and loudest I’ve ever heard and I’ve seen AC/DC. Great choice Dave.
Saw the HooDoos twice. about 40 years apart. In the 80s opening for the Bangles and last year. Always a great live band. Anyone from Oz remember The Johnnys? Heard they got back together.
Once had a jam with Doug Ford from Masters apprentices , he was telling me he just had a jam with drummer from hoodoo gurus and Said he was amazing, I never got a chance to see them 😏
Probably my favourite Hooddoo Gurus song, hooks, melodies everywhere and a great build up. But they do have plenty of other great tracks worth giving a listen.
The life of a long distance sales man in this case or a long distance love, longing to be home yet having to make ends meet to put food on the table. Another Aussie group of legends Love our Gurus. Great choice TY Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤❤❤🎶🎶🎵🎵🎶🎶
Would be an EH mate, I had one similar for awhile but with electric blue exterior paint, chromes and fat tyres all round etc. Looked the goods but but didn't go too hard only had a 149 in it, I traded it to a mate who had a HR sedan with a 186 in it. I was only 19 so young and stupid, the EH was the better car to be honest.
Have a look at Miss Freelove 69 - Dave Faulkner the main singer and songwriter says it's him. Lots of great Gurus songs: What's My Scene My Girl Right Time I was a Kamikaze Pilot Poison Pen Like Wow Wipeout Bittersweet Like Wow Wipeout and What's My Scene are probably their best known songs globally. Dave writes songs that try to mimic 50s or 60s. A lot are themed - he has a great sense of humour. 'I was a Kamikaze Pilot They gave me a plane I couldn't fly it They taught me how to take off, I dont know how to land They said it doesn't matter I just dont understand '😂
My now wife and I went to see them at our local for their last ever, disbanding, never another chance Australia wide tour about 26 years ago. The bastards are still touring now. They are good though...
Music n this part of the world developed differently, the pub rock scene. We tell our own stories. I think we were also lucky in some of our promoters and music labels, people who generally liked and supported music and musicians.
63/64 Holden EJ/EH Station Wagon. Not one of the bands that I followed in the 80s, nothing wrong with them, they have great music, but it is just that we were spoiled for choice. Certainly on my playlist these days.
The Guru’s have Sooo many great hits.. and they are still touring today. 👍
I think what makes Ozzie music so great, is the ability to tell a story and give a sense of the emotion in it
Estimated time of arrival 9:30 am
p.s at one time Hoodoos held the record for the loudest concert in Australia

Classic track from a classic band.
Great choice for a Monday morning. Cheers.
Enjoy!
Nice one mate, this is one of my favourite Hoodoos songs. Aussie rock royalty 👍

Loved the Johnnies back in the day, great to hear they are back playing again.
What a great band and fantastic song.
I’ve always loved this tune by the Gurus. The lead singer is Dave Faulkner. They have been touring the US recently, in Chicago, I believe.
I think I spotted Dave in the ‘Hard Ons’ clip yesterday. ❤🇦🇺👍
Hoodoo Gurus had a following in the USA back in the day and internationally in general. "Another World" is my favourite.
They've been playing the states the last few weeks and back in Australia soon. Got my tickets for Melbourne
Saw them recently with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, brilliant. Seeing them again in 2 weeks, can't wait.
At the forum on the 21st? Been waiting for months will be a great gig. No seating at the front so first in is front row
Once had a jam with Doug Ford from Masters apprentices , he was telling me he just had a jam with drummer from hoodoo gurus and Said he was amazing, I never got a chance to see them 😏
Yeah, I feel the same. I’m sorry I never got to see them live. ❤️🇦🇺👍
There’s another song of theirs “what’s my scene “ awesome 😎 song 🎧 I love this one too.
I've never heard this song before, but it's very Australian with the long distances we have to travel away from family sometimes! 👍
may i ask what year were you born
@top40researcher31 Definitely not! 😁
Great song. Thanks Mike. You need to do "Bittersweet" by the Hoodoos.
HooDoo Gurus - the right time ! it more up beat
Brilliant live act.
Brad Shepherd, lead guitarist is seriously underrated.
The car was a Holden EH...almost as legendary as the Gurus.
Nice wagon, she had a 138 c.i inline 6, 3 speed manual or auto.
Gilly, if you say it, I believe it. 🤷♀️❤😂
@turdferguson400 thank you for the confidence... I better make sure i don't wack thoughts down without verification.....like I normally do.
@@briangill4000yeah. I don’t know what that means. And I don’t know anything about cars… 🤣😅❤️
red engine, they came out in everything from 130 to 202 ci
@@ray.shoesmith na, EJ had the last grey, red 149 started it EH I Think.
Probably my favourite Hooddoo Gurus song, hooks, melodies everywhere and a great build up. But they do have plenty of other great tracks worth giving a listen.
😊 this one got you moving Mike. Love a little chair dance!

Maybe hard to see , tail lights look rounded square.
My dad had Eh wagon 149 square tail lights 🤙

The station wagon is a classic Holden.
When it comes to Southern Rock you can't get more Southern than Aussie Rock!
Only Rock from Antarctica is more Southern.

"What's My Scene" is better than this IMHO but this is ok. The station wagon is an EJ Holden I think my uncle had one when I was a kid.
It was tough to decide which Gurus song for Mike as I isn’t his preferred type of music
Maybe you’re right on the better selection
@@CooranbongDave That one is ok and it gave him a taste of their music anyway.👍👍👍
And/Or the NRL promo “That’s My Team”
Best band I've seen live ever and one of my favourite Guru songs.
Thanks for this one mate
More gurus do ' bittersweet '
whats my scene is a great song
