Very nice job on your bartop. I use the lighted buttons as well. I even labeled them inside with clear printed letter stickers. The kids were constantly asking which buttons to hit. 8 )

If you don’t want to deal with issues with t molding you can also do like shown on Delusional’s arcade channel where you just paint the edge so it gives the appearance of t-molding. To me that would be way easier.

@@cornerwoodshop That's understandable, you have a lot on your plate right now. I will be building a few pf these for my game room. One cabinet for each console. I know it sounds crazy but I only want buttons for each cabinet to match the console, so there's no extra buttons that aren't used. Then each cabinet will have it's own graphics. I want to build my cabinet a little wider as well for more elbow room for 2 players.

I have started a build, and just bought a 19" monitor with a 4:3 aspect ratio expecting it to be better for the older games. Why are most builders going for wide screens? My assumption is a 4:3 gives you more screen space as its a bit taller than widescreens
Honestly, I don't know. Some people might think bigger is better, and widescreen monitors are easy to find in larger sizes. If you plan to play more modern games, it might be good, but for retro 4:3 games, the picture will look weird stretched or you will have annoying black bars on the sides which is just wasted space. I think you will be happier with the 19"!
The readymade images you can download from places like arcadepunks put in digital bezels with nice graphics on the sides of the screen that is outside of the 4:3 ratio. But you are correct, you do get a slightly bigger picture if you find a 4:3 of the same screen width.
Hey, Jason. I really do need your help. I bought an old arcade machine that used to be "Burger Time" from the 80's. The guy that I bought it from took out the old computer and the old CRT screen. He put in a raspberry pi and a computer monitor. I would like to add more games to it, as it already has almost 60 games on it. How do I go by adding more games to it, and where would I find the games at??? Can or will you please help me with this?? I would love to add a lot more games from the 80's and 90's on it.

Thanks for the videos and the easy to follow instructions. I bought the plans for this bar top arcade and I am starting on this now. I have a question on the buttons. What are the 2 on the front bottom piece for? I will still have to look up how to wire everything this is the 1st time I have ever done something like this. I am a nurse so electronics may be easy, but I am not use to that lol.
Thanks for purchasing the plans! The wiring is pretty simple, but let me know if you run into trouble and I'll try to help. The buttons on the front are for the "Insert Coin" buttons (hence the location). On arcade games, hit it to add quarters, and on console games, it can be used as the "Select" button. Good luck with the build... I'd love to see it when you're done!
On the joystick I understand I may have to purchase a 8 way to 4 way adapter kit, but how would that work on Qbert because it is a 4 way but used in a diagonal? Didn't know if you knew what was best to do for that. Some people say an 8 way is horrible on the 4 way joystick games like Pac Man Donkey Kong etc....
@@doityourselfjim7368 That is an issue I couldn't find a perfect solution to. I know some joysticks have a 4 way to 8 way switch on the bottom, but you would have to lift the control panel each time you needed to make the switch. I tried magnets on the control panel to make this easy, but that didn't work out well. It's not impossible to play 4 way games with an 8 way joystick but it's not perfect. If you come up with a better solution, please let me know!
Great build! what did you put behind the marquee plexiglass?
The marquee was printed on a thin transparent plastic and didn't need a plexiglass backing. It was lit with an LED flex strip adhered to the inside.
What speaker wire you use? Cause I got similar 4” speakers that have been gutted from a BT Speaker, very loud and clear. Im planning to use them for my Killer Instinct Bartop Arcade.
Sorry, just seeing this. I believe it was just some 22 gauge wire I had on hand. Anything similar should do. Good luck with the build!

how do I get the pc monitor to turn on without using the power button due the fact that the bezel is in the way.
Many monitors have a standby mode that they go into when the machine is turned off, and they power back on when they receive signal. I’m sorry I can’t say which monitors will or will not work that way, but it should be a listed spec when buying. Hope that helps!
Very nice video. I have to order t molding from USA if I want it, is it worth it? I can only find black t molding in Europe but I would want blue or green.
It's really a matter of taste. I think the t-molding added a professional look, but I've seen some nice cabinets without it. It does help protect the edges from damage and the graphics from peeling. If the shipping cost wasn't too high, I'd say it's worth it, otherwise, maybe not.
Amazing, I am going to start my own build soon, just doing research. Question, how do you turn on the TV? If it is by the power button, how do you not have to use the remote to turn the tv on?
I had the same question when researching for this build. I learned that most computer monitors have a "Power Resume" state that will turn on the monitor when an input is detected. My monitor automatically turned on when the RPI booted up. To stop from having to pull the power cord to turn off, I added a power-down button to the RPI. Google "raspberry pi shutdown button" and you'll find how-to guides. Both methods worked to turn on and off the monitor.
Regarding your button question, I don't really know the difference between Happ and Sanwa buttons, except that Happ is a "cratered" concave button which is more like the classic arcade cabinets. I used them in my other "Desktop Arcade" build, and I actually like them better than the ones used here. Hope that helps!
Hello on your video Nr 1 when you cut slot for t-moulding I can see your bit is bit loose, this could be reason your slot is to large :P

Nice! Where you get graphics/decals from?
I got them from gameroomsolutions.com when I built this years ago... but looking at the site now, I no longer see their graphics package as an option. There should be other online options or you can check with a local print shop. Good luck!
What made you choose a 6 button layout vs an 8 button layout? Thinking about building one as well but I’m worried some modern games like Dragon Ball fighterz won’t work
I only planned to play retro games (nes, snes, genesis, ps1, etc.) so the 6 button layout worked fine. You can easily add 8 buttons. I would just make sure 2 people can still comfortably stand next to each other while playing.
How much was the total cost? And would you consider making another one to sell? I suck at building anything!
It's been a while, but I believe the total build was around $350-$400. Unfortunately, I can't find time for my own projects. I got my graphics from gameroomsolutions.com... I know they also sell complete bartop kits if that helps!

At the time I made this, the build was just under $400 for everything. I have a parts list with prices included in the plans at cornerwoodshop.com. They're $10 but might be worth it to you if you want a shortcut. Either way, it was a fun build, and I highly recommend giving it a go!
I am currently gathering the stuff I need for my first build which I also plan to give away. There are ways to save some money I found. For example, you can sometimes find a decent pair of speakers at thrift stores for about 10 bucks. Also I have picked up a couple of monitors so far, also for 10 bucks at my local thrift store. I think once PCs went to HDMI, people got rid of their old monitors which work fine with the Raspberry Pi. Also you can do a custom paint job and not use graphics. I have seen a build done this way, and it actually is very nice, but I have to admit the graphics give it a nice professional look.

Sorry for the late reply… I got them from a website online that doesn’t sell vinyl anymore. I know there are a couple others online, but I can testify to how good they are. You can also check with a local print shop.

A great build but you really need to sort the one player button it is not straight and you can notice it big style. I would forget about starting a youtube channel, and start building cabinets instead, a lot more money in it for you. American's are literally crying out for arcade kits and machines.

What!!!??? The plans cost $10!!!??? Why!? That should be free! There are other youtubers who give the plans for free. I already have those, but I wanted to have an alternative just in case. So no, I won’t buy them. Sorry. EDIT: Ignore this post people. I was way out of line with this one. I’m going to leave it as it is so that others don’t make the same mistake I did. I’ve been in a lot of stress lately, but that is no excuse to say this kind of things to anyone.
Because my time is worth something. The real question is "what is your time worth?" You could spend hours or even days online researching parts and watching other videos to piece this together, or you can spend 10 bucks and get complete cutout templates, parts and price lists with links to buy, and step by step instructions on exactly how to build one of these. I haven't seen quality "free" plans anywhere with as much detail. Either way, good luck with the build!
The Corner Woodshop You’re right. I can’t say anything on that. But yeah, there are no plans with as much details as the ones you pay for. And yes, your time is worth something. When people take the time and real effort to do something well done and well presented, it is always worth it. My apologize for my previous post. Truly sorry for what I said.
