The real problem is the fans who expect mediocre artists to give them something extraordinary. You can listen to some of these guys music and tell that they aren’t going to give a great show. The songs be lackluster so what do you think the performance is going to be? A lot of these artist barely put time into making the songs and albums but y’all think they’re going to rehearse and put a show together for you???😂😂😂 the fans are the real problem, y’all the ones put these guys on and always taking up for their basicness lol

I'm 40, white, and have lived in brooklyn, NY my whole life. My parents listened to mostly rock, but weren't anti-black music at all. They liked Motown, 60s & 70s funk+soul, etc. So when I was a kid the music didn't seem completely foreign. It was exciting to hear the influence of the past in a new, still evolving style of music that came from just miles away from me. I was too young and clueless to realize gangsta rap was being marketed to white teens. I couldn't give a shit what the lyrics really were. The music just sounded great with geniuses like DJ Premier, Rza, Dre in the early 90s and then the Neptunes, Tim, Swizz Beats, Just Blaze in the late 90s and 2000s. I literally can't remember the last time hip hop excited me. Shit is terrible. It's like these kids are too uneducated to realize how good hip hop can be so this mediocrity sounds good to them.

That's because nowadays touring isn't prioritized. It's cool that artists today do have a lot of other avenues to blow up and make a ton of money but it hurts the shows often times. Back in the day the only real way for artists to get cash from their music was to go on tours and perform since their royalties would typically suck from their label. Most record contracts gave artists a lot of the cut of their touring and most of the cut from merchandise sales though. So going on the tour was the normal lifestyle of all types of genres. Nowadays touring is an afterthought. It isn't uncommon to see an artist blow up, schedule only 55 shows in one year and only show up to 25 of them and perform lackluster in 10 of those. They are also afraid of performing at smaller venues in say Nebraska because of backlash on social media if they're seen performing at a small club.

The thing that stood out at these concerts were no backtracking and showed effort and love their fans.
Meth and Red by far shows you when you practice your craft and love it, it will show
Shit even the first time I preformed I remembered my lyrics and had no backtrack.

I had this conversation the other day, ticket prices compared to festival prices are a far stretch now. Festivals cost millions in insurance, performance fees & security & venue rentals etc. An indoor venue that holds 5k shouldn't cost more than a couple g's to book plus technicians and security - the way I see it, the big ticket prices is just a way to stretch the profit on the fans dime.

Acts like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five put on a show. The Treacherous Three were also showmen.
