This video is from our friends at the Rockford Convention and Visitors Bureau. About 90 minutes northwest of Chicago, Rockford ranks as Illinois' third largest city by population. Attractions include:
- CoCo Key Water Park
- Magic Rivers Water Park in nearby Cherry Valley, Ill.
- Anderson Japanese Gardens
- Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden
- Burpee Museum of Natural History
- Coronado Theatre
- Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum
Everyone has something bad to say about Rockford. I've been living here for the last year, rollerblading through downtown at 9pm frequently and I have yet to see anything sketchy. Restoration Rockford and the effort to curb crime in downtown has really made an improvement. My dad grew up here and he remembers a lot of gang crime. He moved away for 30 years, now he's back. He is so impressed by how much the city has improved in his absence.

I live in rockford it use to be nice here at one point .but if u dont have a gun on u , u are not safe in this town .u will see crime .if u focus on the bad u forget to see the good in our town .

....can you guys think positive? I love rockford, and im not rich at all, ive lived in the crappiest apartments,and ive lived in the womans shelter, and im only 14. but I still love rockford, theres nice people, and iceskating, a museum, swimming, roller skating, movie theatres, beefaroo!!!! (who doesnt love beefaroo?) and a wonderful elementary school called maria montessori. if you hate it, atleast try to think positive, cuz there is always a good thing in each and every city.
Rockford can change for the better! Be proud!
If you are one of the lucky ones who can travel throughout the city wothout getting shot then I think you are blessed and probably have no issues with anything in life.

Looked pretty nice on video. However, the reality is so much different. There is something to be said about a positive attitude. The video depicted our city nicely and what you saw is what you will get. If you like a girl on a tractor, paying 50 dollars to get into a bogus water resort, boat down a dirty river, or go out to eat then you will be entertained here. But most people just do not have the imagination to turn a night out at Burger King and a movie into a thrilling place to live.

Just moved from Rockford, Il to Chattanooga, Tn area. I'm sorry but there is not much to do there...at all! So happy we moved and I hope I never have to move back to Rockford! =/

I've been to every state besides 4 of them and have been to 9 different countries. I've lived in South Florida, Los Angeles, etc. I remember the kids telling me how bad Florida sucked when I was there. Yeah everything is so much better everywhere else which is complete bullshit.

@cryophile Improvement? The improvement must start at the Education level first. Nothing will change fully in your life time in Rockford; there is a 4 year generational gap of education and advancement in race relations based on where I live now and there. Its as obvious as the night and day. You have people with very little value for life itself in abundance in that city. That has to be fixed before anything positive will come out there mouths. Even Beloit is ahead a generation.
This is my hometown, this is a joke haha. Having been there recently a majority of the city is decaying buildings and rubble from Villa De Roma (Pizza Castle) Torn down years ago and never cleaned up. CoCo Keyes (Never been, thank god) Had a hepatitis outbreak in the pool area, infecting half of the people in the pool, this is just a joke haha

Rockford is all of the things in this video to people with plenty of money. The far east side, north OR south, is where the money is. Rockford specializes in keeping people without money unable to obtain it. Poor bus routes, poor policing, poor schools, etc. I lived there for about 7 years. Move away when you can......

rockford sucks. the only thing i like about it are the newer housing subdivisions and the property values. other than that, its a real boring place to live.
rockford isn't anything. we lived there for 5 years and then moved back to california. rockford is boring, lol.
