    My hydrangeas got caught by that late March freeze too. Absolutely devastated. In 15 years in this house that’s never happened. I came really close to ripping them out. But other than oak leaf hydrangeas the big leafs are my favorite. Especially my deep purple ones.
    Next year I plan to cover them with frost cloth from the time they bud until last frost date.
    I propagate mine in one of those big clear storage containers. My husband drilled some holes in the top. I call it my Prop Box. I had a bunch of small terracotta pots left over from kid projects so I use those.
    I like to give hydrangeas as gifts so I usually propagate dozens each spring so using the Prop Box is so convenient.

    I agree, Dollar Tree has a great selection of gardening supplies including heirloom seeds. Two yrs ago I accidentally lost my bell pepper seedlings and had to replant fast. So DT to the rescue. The DT pepper seeds did so well I use them all the time now and many others from there. Their cutters, clips and cloches are also very good for light use. I start my lily bulbs in their 6” bottom watering pots. I love DT. Nice video TFS!!

      @GardenQueen  Год назад +4

      Hello and welcome! I honestly would wait 6 weeks before your first frost! I have transplanted in the middle of the summer in the heat! But if I had to move it I would use a starter Fertilizer like Espoma, Jobes etc. I would give the plant water the night before! I would dig my new hole first! Dig the plant out then.. before I took it hydrangea from the old hole... I would put water in the new hole and submerge the plant into the water into the new hole! I would also do this closer to night. When the temps have come back down but then it has night time to acclimate to the move... also I would do it on a cloudy day.. preferably if there are days in a row that will be cloudy.
