May i please ask that you please please do a St james infirmary, the Hugh Laurie version. I think you'd play that beautifully and it's a very interesting song to do and learn.
I'm sure it's not easy being piano teacher, let alone having to prepare and digitally publish the leasons isn’t it? I do hope those who have found the ideal teacher really are thankful and acknowledge their skills. Thanks Francesca, always looking forward to the next one. You're simply awesome!
Ooooh, this is so cool. Always find myself doing some random 'plinky-plonking' after I'm done practicing, but this is awesome for giving it a little form. Love this!
Literally asking questions ("What would you like for dinner?") and forming answers ("I was thinking pizza.") to make phrases with different syllables i.e. rhythms is genius! Thank you so much for that tip! Great videos. So glad I found you!
This is a good video for the beginer. I liked how the young lady explained and went slowly so you can play the chord s along with her. I will continue learning from her videos. I played as a child and always want ed to pick it back up. I am years down the road so its good to get back into it and learn simple chords I can use to enjoy playing again.
Love this!!!! First video on your channel I’ve watched. I can already tell I’ll be watching more!!! You’re wonderful. Well done. More jazz tutorials please :)
Hello. I'm Brazilian and I found your tutorial very objective. I'm trying to learn and it's not hard. Congratulations. Besides, you're beautiful. So congratulations again.
i have no knowledge of music theory and dont know how to play piano at all, but your lesson really inspires me, the chords you play are so beautiful, just like the piece Dudley Moore plays in movie 10. i start playing some of your chords on my keyboard with left hand, and find it so pleauring to listen, then try to add a few notes forming very simple melody, all of a sudden i found myself making a 15-seconds song, never think of capable doing this wonderful thing without any formal musical training, i want like to complete the song oneday to my very special one, thank so much Francesca, you really change my life.
You seriously just blew my mind 🤯, I've been playing for a few months and stumble on to this just few minutes ago and I'm at awe learning from this video. Keep up the good work great breakdown with the question and answer.
Really nice tutorial. Freedom, I've been playing about with riffs and grooves and thoroughly enjoying myself for hours without having to concentrate on theory and technique which makes for a nice relaxing change. Cheers.
Don't usually comment on yt videos but just wanted to say the entire tutorial was a vibe and I love your song tutorials in general. The conversation advice was really simple but effective! had a laugh too, anyway thanks a lot :)
just wanted to add i really liked your "basic" pentatonic melody at 4:25 and i managed to make a lofi beat from it( it was very lofi-sounding so i kinda had to :)
wonderful explanation for beginners. i tried many tutes all were going over my head so finally i thought to consult u cuz u always give very easy lessons to reveal the secret behind the song. i was keen to learn jazz music cuz here in India ppl have no clue about Jazz we dont listen but want to practice lot of jazz i just love to listen and play....thanks n regards feom India
Thanks for this, jazz style and improv seems daunting but also my favorite and most satisfying to play when I take the time to learn. This made a lot of sense thanks!! 🎶👍 Would love more of this,
I loved this lesson and started practicing it. Amazing the beautiful music this simple progression creates. So much scope for improvisation! Thank you!
Amazing! Thank you so much. Conversation.... OMG... That is exactly how I feel Jazz. Goosebumps!! I find your vids very unique. Technically solid and informative and yet somehow very gentle and "atmospheric". I'm gonna watch them all :). Thank you again.
Thank you very much for your style in teaching, you make things that I would not have attempted doable, albeit my version lol, but isn't that what piano/keyboard is all about Diolch/thanks again.
Do you have a video showing how to practice keeping your hands locked when playing 7th. Chords? That left hand exercise is tricky trying to your fingers to land on the next note.
can you pretty pretty please do where is my mind by the pixies!! ive been wanting to learn and i just love ur tutorials and it’s just a song that i cant get out of my head. please do it if you can!
Thank you so much for your video. Today I used the piano for the first time and your video was so excellent. You have inspired me to keep playing. Thank you so much for your clear and nice style of teaching ❤️
Great video! To the point and very informative. Do you suggest any other videos for learning slow jazz? I’m looking to be able to simply improvise some slow, easy listening jazz like on this video, where I had enough material to actually sit down at a restaurant or hotel piano bar and play. Not looking to play with others or learn specific songs… just improvise. I know jazz can be hard, but I also know with a solid foundation of the basics one could “fake” being a long time pro.. curious on your guidance/direction. Thank you!!!!
Thank you so very much Francesca for this simple and effective tutorial. Your instruction confirms the way I am starting to develop my left hand chord progression and that is a big plus for me. I came back to playing the piano after an absence of 40 years and now I realize how huge my limitations have become as far as technical agility. I was trained for classical music in my 20s and it seems that the muscle memory recovery keeps pushing me to play the melodies (in jazz) improvs to sound like a lot more classical than say modern jazz. What advice or pointers could you give me to overcome that would be tremendously appreciated.
You are the best piano teacher ever! Easy and understandable imma save a money for your piano course. Edit: can you do a Lo-fi piano course or tutorial?
You are beautiful as the way you say and the Way you play piano. However i would like to ask you if you have video tutorial of tritone improvisation? because I am thirsty to learn and know that.
Enjoyed your video -- but whoever transcribed the chords mixed up something when describing the chords: First chord in that first progression is an FMajor7th (not an Fm7th!) so i thought i should share that so you won't confuse all your beginner students out there. (FM7th is part of the diatonic chords of CMajor while F minor 7th wouldn't be because it would require an Ab!). I'm both a student and a teacher, of various things in music, and always looking for inspirations, particularly seeking new ways to bring out simple ideas that make it easy to join in for new music makers. This is the first time I have seen your RUclips channel. I may subscribe after all - because i enjoyed your approach.
Maybe this is just a regional difference in traditions of how music is written out? Notation most of us are used to [I thought] uses a capital M for Major and the lower case m always means minor (maybe this is different between countries not just regions? - but in jazz bands I've played in [several places in the US] any time they switch this it messes up some musicians at least on their first read through!). [If they can't use a capital M, try spelling out more of the word helps such as " maj" ]. {Or at least when writing by hand - we often use a triangle in the middle between the letter and the number for the Major 7th, which is even easier to read - but may not be available on every computer keyboard}.

These melodies have that classic bossa nova feel
It's amazing!¡
Please may in one of your future videos can you do three little birds by Bob Marley
how much should we contribute?
May i please ask that you please please do a St james infirmary, the Hugh Laurie version. I think you'd play that beautifully and it's a very interesting song to do and learn.
Can you suggest how I can contribute whatsoever.

Well said. My thoughts exactly.
Okay any suggestions
Ooooh, this is so cool.
Always find myself doing some random 'plinky-plonking' after I'm done practicing, but this is awesome for giving it a little form.
Love this!
When you played that progession, loving you, Minnie Riperton, came to mind. Took me back to the 70's.
Thanks 🙏✌️

It’s silly but definitely helps doesn’t it? 😆🎹
my cousin asked me to play at her wedding next year! she wouldn’t have asked me if it wasn’t for your tutorials so i wanted to thank you 🤍

Bits of chords are enough, even an iota of knowledge is valuable, thanks.
The best piano teacher on RUclips! Thank you!
