1. Clara Schumann - Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann, Op. 20
Yoav Levanon opens the recital with Clara Schumann's poignant Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann. One of her final compositions, this cycle of seven variations transforms Robert's motif from Bunte Blätter into a cascade of arpeggios, showcasing Clara's compositional finesse and inspiring Brahms's own variations on the same theme.
2. Robert Schumann - Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13
Enter the world of Robert Schumann's beloved Symphonic Etudes, a collection of 13 technically demanding short pieces. Evolving from a somber funeral march to a triumphant song, these etudes appeal to a deep sense of musicality. Levanon's interpretation brings forth the emotional depth and technical brilliance embedded in these musical gems.
3. Sergei Rachmaninov - Études-Tableaux, Op. 39

Extremely noble and mature playing. His playing in the Schumann works reminds me a lot of Andras Schiff. Deep musical understanding coupled with a strong technique, while staying out of the way for the music to shine through. Would love to see him take some more risks and present more of his individual artistry, especially for a 20 yr old. What a rare talent, though!
