    In our group of dads we do not have a lot of time to play it but like the idea of Narrative Play. So we threw all the leveling and roster maintenance stuff away and just award ourselves 1 Battle Honour after each game. It works great and the thing is that every player chooses the model of the enemy team which has given them the most trouble to gain level. It makes post-game discussion somewhat special.

    Love this video. I've always seen Kill Team rules more as guidelines. I play almost exclusively with friends and we just use house rules to make it easier and simpler. Not everybody wants to go as in depth, it can take away the fun.
    Different formats, different rules, deviating from rules, ignoring rules, making your own rules. Hell even making your own kill team. That's what makes it fun, that's what makes it a hobby that you can keep pursuing.
    I personally just love warhammer models, I love the painting and kitbashing aspect of the hobby. When it comes to actually playing you can live the fantasy a lot more, pit teams against eachother and make headcannons or play entire stories because you take away the limitations of rules.
    Glad to see you encouraging people to deviate from the set path and just have fun with what is a wonderful game

    Me and my buddy wrote up a gamemode where a tau kill team(or insert any other kill team with a transport vehicle) have to escort their devilfish while the other team has to destroy it by targeting one of it's arcs and throwing satchel charges
    Also appreciate the ironforge music, brought me back

    Legacy games mean that part(s) of the game are permanently changed after each play (usually with stickers, destroying/removing components, and also adding new components and rules). So you could argue that narrative campaigns already do this. For non-campaigns, you could maybe make it so injured or incapacitated operatives get some sort of negative (from their war wounds), but balance it out with a bonus - this way your team remains balanced but changes each play.

    I wrote a whole solo/co-op pack on Splinter cell/stealth operations. There's tons of fun ways to play but people just get caught up in matched play

    Yes, the pre-rolled one-off narrative games are great! We did this a lot with Battlefleet Gothic because the rules had a lot of really cool things for a campaign that you'd otherwise never see.

      I've genuinely NEVER applied a single narrative upgrade to anything in kill team

    Take out VIP, Attacker vs. Defender in excellent defensive positions but outnumbered 3:1, Escort/Destroy vehicle, add bonus attack or damage dice if you're on a vantage point like heroscape used to be

    So, Legacy with rosters? Was that implied? I could see playing three games in a row using your roster as reinforcements. I guess you’d have to adjust things a little since a 20 model roster for a 6 model elite team is less restrictive than it would be for a 12 model, 7/8 wound, team.

      I was actually thinking no rosters! Obviously the rounds would get pretty short hence it just being a fun game day

    We’ve played KT on D&D map sheets. I think it works very well. Also Battletech hex grid maps. I’m just about ready to buy an Underworlds set for the game boards, mainly. But perhaps the lack of card collecting in the new version would make Underworlds more attractive.

      If you're just looking for a big grid I'd recommend Judgement or God Tear!

      Kill team and Underworlds are my two games currently. Not needing card deck building in Rivals format did bring it back.

    How about: operatives activate in random order. You have x seconds to finish that activation. If you run out of time you can finish, but your opponent gets to find out who he is activating next

    i don't know how possible this would be but an idea your Assassination mode gave me is an asymmetric game where player a maybe has an assassination objective where as player b has a take and hold or has to style an objective .

    My local community has been playing a narrative campaign using a combination of Kill Team and Necromunda rules instead of the baseline strat ops narrative rules, and it has been very successful so far.

    Having finished a few campaigns of killteam I can state that the more elite your team is the more crazy it gets.
    More operatives dilutes the Net XP gained on the team! My Ork-stodes are all grizzled and have all the added rules! :D

    The Legacy mindset being "A game component is destroyed" feels a little weird to me. I tend to think of Legacy games as having "persistence across sessions." It's a Legacy game because the way this game plays today emerges from the legacy of previous game sessions. You're not just permanently removing elements - each session might introduce new elements as well, that weren't in previous sessions. You make a choice, so Card A is introduced to the next game, and Card B is destroyed to indicate the permanent evolution of the story.
    In other words, a "Legacy" format is really a campaign. And while I feel like Kill Team could do with a more streamlined campaign system, I think that's the direction I'd head for that kind of idea.

      Yeah no you're right of course. In my mind and the heat of the moment the thing that stood out to me was the one off of the game and destroying game pieces to create a genuinely unique experience. But yeah it's the campaign play and it's in the name. Legacy

    17:00 This is just ironman campaign from nercomunda. If a model went out of action, roll a D6 on a 4+ the model is removed from the campaign.

    I would do legacy as no cps in the game all ploys can only be used once including cp reroll. If you wanted it to be a bit easier, allow cp reroll once per turning point.

      We expect the next edition in September this year. As always, GW has not communicated in any way what will happen to our existing teams when the end comes.

    As I was listening to you talking about trying other games, I was about to say have you tried the newer version of Xwing.
    Then at xwing you beat me to it 😂 do you still play xwing ?

    This might have done better with a script. There are times where you meander or can't find the word, and I'm waiting for the point. Good concept, but constructive critique.
