  • Biomechanical analysis tells us the details of the velocity of the various body segments. This brief video is an overview of that process.
Gideon Ariel is the "Father of Biomechanical Analysis of human Movement."
The accuracy of the distance calculation of 74.41m is amazing in spite of these inaccuracies and missing data.
    1. Video from RUclips runs at a different fames per second rate than standard video playback.
    2. No information about the wind or aerodynamic factors on the discus were included for analysis.
Estimates of the distance gain from the wind for that day would be 1 to 3+ meters, depending on the flight characteristics and wind direction for each throw. The best estimate is that Mykoklas would have likely had a PR without the wind
Its a Numbers Puzzle for Geeks:
All the data points are merely interesting numbers until they are included in a linear study of similar parameters. Release velocity and actual flight distance should be a straight line correlation, but not always.

I was recently watching the video with Gideon and Al Orter training for the discus. Great. to see that he still passionate about throwing the discus. Can’t wait more!

My pleasure! Its just the first layer of the onion. And it is combined with the coach's eye and the thrower's intuition for the final result.
