Not so Fun Fact: Basco’s actor (Kei Hosogai) actually wanted to be in Super MegaForce and was willing to do reprise his role from Gokaiger for FREE and can speak English. Unfortunately Saban turned him down…
Yep, he was willing and able to show up and redo his Gokaiger scenes in English so they can properly adapt his Sentai Footage Which makes Saban SUPER stupid for turning him down There is literally no excuse but being arrogant and lazy dumbasses to turn down such an easy thing
I always hated the “it’s targeted at kids” argument, part because it was hyped and marketed as an anniversary season, and part because even kids thought it was bad and made no sense. I was a camp counselor at the time the show was running and the kids I looked after were always talking to me about how it made no sense, why didn’t they just used “super mega mode” from the start, why were they pirates now, etc.
@triforian king Bruh super sentai and many other tokusatsu series are INDEED aimed at kids audience, the japanese kids. So yeah, both are made for kids but not the same kids
@triforian king Different cultures, if you watch anime you know that shounen animes (animes target at kids and teenagers) have a lot of that too. They just don't have any problem with showing these kind of things there
I met Ciara Hanna twice at conventions and I told her the exact same thing. But I do have an edited version of Super Megaforce with better storylines and cringes edited out and more extended. Going to be uploaded on here November 3rd 2023
If anything, I do appreciate Megaforce/Super Megaforce for being the last PR series to not use any exclusive cockpit power-ups or weapons. As well as no unnecessary extra long morph calls, because recently they’re adding extra lines to the main morph sequence.
@@venerandoalamaresjr.8910 I'm pretty sure they use to do a morphing sequence and then reuse Gokaigers recap opening footage that show them all with a space background but would have Troy talking over it doing a roll call. I know for fact they did because I always use to say how weird that they never would acknowledge how they're space pirates, but would have Troy doing a monologue and roll call while in space. For some reason all the official morphing trailers on RUclips omits that part of their morphing sequence.
For me, what irks me about Gosei is that he explains "he was created by Zordon, to give his power to the chosen rangers, when the earth was in desperate need of help." But there has been calamities ten times worse than what the Megaforce Rangers faced and Gosei did nothing to help then.
indeed that is wuite messed up Earth was invaded by aliens, threatened to be dominated by some animal demon, and just the latest one, was invaded by some extra dimensional monsters that wanted to split it open and flood it with some poisonous red water, however the only explanation was in the show's intro narration was the the Alien armada was stronger and more ferocious than all the other threats, which is quite silly if you ask me
@@abdelmouhaimenabd that could've been easily explained that Goesi at one time was Eltaran (perhaps he was the ranger that was killed by the black night (was Goshi from Zyuranger) and Zordon put Goesi into deep status for his injuries to heal before he was entombed in a jar and that's why Gosi and Tensu have no memories, they may think Rita and Zedd are still out there and they don't know
@vasyear Not to be rude. But that sounds like a fan theory. And don't want to dismiss an interesting idea, but I'd rather have something more concrete in terms of reasoning.
Idea: Gokaiger doesn’t get an adaptation at all but part of it gets combined with Goseiger in Super Megaforce but WAYYYYYY better, that way, it will make it up and actually be an amazing 20th anniversary. But my idea is the 30th anniversary after Dino Charge and Ninja Steel.
Even without expecting Gokaiger level quality, I think Dino Thunder proves that a more low-key season could have worked. The show puts effort on being good on it's own merit with the story and cast. When it does offer fan service, there is some heart to it. SMF's problem is that Tzachor's problem was not caring about PR beyond it being a way to adapt Sentai, while Doug Sloan was a PR fan approaching Dino Thunder with passion.
Apparently also Tzachor was a giant fan of super senti and didn’t want certain elements changed. Which I’m not certain about as that’s from second hand sources
To be honest, they really should have just lost their first set of powers when they got to Super Megaforce. Like why even have two different Morphers if one form is suppose to be better than the other? Also to note, they rarely transform into the fan favorite series; like they only transform into Time Force, In Space, and Lightspeed Rescue once or twice while other seasons that aren’t as beloved as well as the unedited Sentai footage get more screen time. In fact, outside of episode one, they rarely adapt any of fancy one color changes from Gokaiger; like why do most Power Rangers series always take the dull route?
Its cuz megaforce couldn't adapt alot of the changes, lots of the Gokaiger changes included unadapted sentais and they had different favorites from the western version
there's an easy set up for the megaforce powers, in megaforce (1st season) Goesi and Tensu say to them, "we need to prepare for something that may be coming" and in that episode the rangers learn to NOT use their powers as a crutch and then when Super megaforce starts they say to them "remember that time we took your morphers away to prepare this is what we were doing" and then they get the megaforce keys
It's criminal that Mighty Morphin rarely comes out and it's for very very small scenes. Samurai on the other hand constantly shows up over and over again. Plus, they transform into random Sentai ones and they don't even bother naming them
In all honesty, after Samurai and Super Samurai ended, I was reluctant to start watching a new Power Rangers/Super Sentai series. They were the first ones I ever saw and I loved them.😍 However, after learning about the legacy behind all of the rangers in Megaforce and Super Megaforce, I began researching the previous Power Rangers/Super Sentai series and watched them. For context, I never watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers before watching Megaforce and Super Megaforce. I'm thankful for both series for revealing a part of something that I never knew existed. Also, I was glad for the callbacks, mainly Samurai Surprise.😉
@@NealTeno overrated? The reality is that Samurai is hated by a lot of people from the same as Megaforce, it turns out that as many saw in childhood then they like it and think it's a good series.
Some good points were made. For me, I feel that super megaforce would have benefitted from destroying the megaforce powers in the first season finale then making super megaforce suits whole new powers, ala Zeo. They could even lampshade this by having the suits in display cases at the back like in Zeo. It also would have explained all the times that Noah, the smart one, would go into super mega mode just to transform into himself xD
What I did like about The Legendary Battle is seeing the past rangers in their civilian forms assisting the hurt victims before suiting up. That portrays the lesson that heroes are human first hand
Ah, but then they couldn't have had the Vrak is Back episodes where they were suddenly restricted to their original powers (due to just adapting Goseiger's finale).
One of the biggest missed opportunities was not calling it Mighty Megaforce. It's a reference to MMPR, it's got alliteration abd they could say they use the "Might of thr Pirate"
@@DotDotDott because of how it was set up every season 2 had the super added such as samurai to super samurai, ninja steel to super ninja steel, Dino charge to Dino supercharge and super superforce sounds stupid that is why
@@BaulFoodmanedits by your logic thst they called it Super Megaforce because super appeartly sold my toys then why wouldn't they just call it superforce from the beginning instead of adding it later is what I was saying. It's not like the second Season had to have a name change
The reasons I can come up with: - People compare it to Gokaiger, without understanding why the sentai season was able to get so many people back for cheap. SMF just didn't have the budget for the wild expectations held by so many. Not compared to so many sentai actors coming back almost for free because of the earthquake. - The directors wouldn't let storylines progress. Troy's whole living morhping grid thing was ignored. JAke and Gia had to stop progressing. Noah was replaced by his identical twin/parralel version self in SMF (because he is not the same char from S1). Emma had no character, only a bunch of goodie too shoe traits and she wasn't allowed to grow. - shorter seasons don't work well with so many different villains. Even out of the villains I enjoyed, Vrak was the only one we really had time to care about. - Robo Kngiht was basically forgotten. - Orion did not get enough time, he should have been Robo knight as a cyborg in SMF, instead of getting rid of one 6th ranger and adding a new one with no character development. - They only did 2 tribute episodes in the anniveresy season. You don't need to bring a veteren ranger back for each episode, but you need to give some actual weight to each suit the Gokaigers use. - Gosei IS the worst mento in all of rangers. - Should have seen at least a couple of the rangers parents. - Failed potential in so many ways/ Opinions: - Using sentai exclusive suits. (The fault is how they got used with no meaning beside easier editing of footage, not that they got used) - Hating certain characters - Hating the Zords - How it could have been fixed.
Vinaigrette to be fair gokaiger had the benefit of having most of the returning actors living in the Tokyo area. For power rangers,at best they could mainly get New Zealand actors(aka Disney era) to come back but most of mmpr-IS were in the us.that would have cost a shit load of money.
@@brendaspence1824 And a bunch of the Sentai actors, basically arranged to come back themselves for basically only travel costs. If SMF was right after something like 9/11, the actors probably would have come back super cheap.
@@brendaspence1824No, but everyone overlooks what Gokaiger had scheduled (only about 10 cameos and focusing on 10 seasons) and what they got because of the earthquake (30+ cameos. and almost every episode focusing on an earlier team.). We should be comparing SMF to the plans for Gokaiger, because those got made before the Earthquake and show what Toei actually planned. SMF still fails at living up to the OG plans. But it's actually a fair competition, since half the Sentai actors came back for only travel expenses.
@@kyleellis1825 the jungle fury tribute was excellent.not perfect but was a must watch episode.if they at least got 8,9, and wishful thinking 10 of those? What got me was the lack of explanation like how Jake's suit colours changed and how they gave them "Sentai exclusive" suits like Dairanger and Flashman without any proper explanation. Not even a "Wow these suits remind me of the white tiger suit."
The only good thing that I can like about Megaforce & Super Megaforce is the actual toy line itself because they clearly care more about it than the actual show.
@@TheRealBlazingDiamond It's just too bad they canned the card game. They were actually gonna incorporate the ranger keys into the game as well as the Super Megaforce cards having the ability to play other rangers ontop of them to simulate them transforming into past rangers as well as team cards that rewarded you for making a deck comprised entirely of a single season.
@@muigokublack6487 oh wow, that sounds awesome. I remember having the toy of the gold and silver wall dude and you put cards in his mouth, and it made sounds n shit, it was cool
A good thing about the series? Orion's origin slaps and the post-season appearances of Gia were really cool (Street Fighter, Battle for the Grid, Shattered Grid, etc...)
After watching Gokaiger long before Super Megaforce came out, it pretty much shows that it had the potential to be adapted into west. Super Megaforce could have been the first ranger team comprised of different aliens across the galaxy, with only the sixth ranger being from Earth. One of Saban's biggest mistake was trying to follow the same formula that MMPR-PRIS did. Because let's be honest, those transitions did not age well.
The pirate motifs always confused me. Was surprised they didn’t bring back the pirate character Captain Mutiny from PR: Lost Galaxy. Should’ve used the motifs for a pirate themed rangers
Its the disrespect to gokaiger for me, arguably the best super sentai all time. brilliant characters with a proper story. It had sooooo much potential but it was kinda just nothing. It felt so soulless. I actually thought it was kind of cool combining the two seasons and Gia is bae.
I’ll drink to that. Personally I prefer Timeranger and Jetman more than Gokaiger because of how dark both of those shows were and how risk-taking Jetman was (I’m looking at you Gai!), but Gokaiger is still an amazing show and Saban just completely disrespected it because money. If I had a time machine I’d do a bunch of other stuff first, but then I’d go tell everyone to boycott this series and force dumb old Haim to put some more effort into this stuff!
@@zachreber4574 I’d highly recommend you change that. A good number of them are on RUclips. If you’re interested I’d start with Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. It’s the one I started with and I still think it’s one of the best!
@@KingCasual1986 I think the fact that Tokusatsu in 2010's started to get a lighter story for the sake of merch and being more child-friendly, I think Gokaiger might the best in the current generation. Gokaiger is also character-centric show which I think a lot of ppl have get into. It is also similar to One Piece when it comes to character so it's also a plus.
I watched the Gokaigers and its one of my favorite Sentai series. And I know they change things up when the adapt them for Power Rangers. And I knew they have troubles since the Gokaigers used the powers of teams that never had a power ranger series would be tough, but this was too much. Having them change suits like that and calling it a power-up was pushing it for me. But then suddenly gaining those power-up for no reason was stupid. In past ranger series most of the time they had to work at it or learn something. Here they threw power-ups for the megazord left right and center. And they lost a golden opportunity for the new kids to learn about the older Ranger series, like they did in Gokaigers. And like you said the video, they never explained why one ranger went from black to green or why their brains of the team became a master swordsman. All in all I feel super megaforce was the start of the fall of the power rangers series, but that's rant for another time.
I haven't watched the video yet but here's my reasons for why megaforce and super megaforce are hated: 1. Gokaiger and Gosaiger (or however it's pronounced) were two different shows with different plots so trying to make them into one show would have failed 2. You can tell the show was filled with stereotypical highschool tropes 3. "New ranger powers never seen before" 4. The crossovers (like the rangers going into the RPM universe) didn't feel really that special
for #4, i would never call that place the RPM universe because one, that place was more about being a wasteland and 2, there was never a section of the city with that set up.
About point 1, people feel that Megaforce/SuperMegaforce is disrespecting Gokaiger and Goseiger (mainly Gokaiger, due to it being an anniversary season and all)
James W. Bates stayed on for this season, which was hit by problems in about every area except the filming. Power Rangers found itself slipping further behind the Super Sentai source material after the delay in bringing Samurai to television and forcing the Super Samurai second season. The next shows in line were Tensou Sentai Goseiger, a rather mediocre season whose theme was guardian angels protecting the Earth from alien invaders, and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, the Japanese franchise's 35th anniversary Milestone Celebration featuring pirate-themed rangers who could morph into past rangers and use their powers. Although Gokaiger's 35th anniversary would dovetail nicely with the 20th anniversary of Power Rangers, Saban was apparently not allowed to simply skip Goseiger and go straight to Gokaiger. Furthermore, the production staff was concerned that Goseiger's angel-motif and Gokaiger's pirate one weren't viable for a two-year shelf life. In an attempt to square the circle and catch up to Sentai, Saban decided to fold together the two series, starting with Goseiger for Megaforce and moving to Gokaiger for the second half of the season, Super Megaforce to line up the respective anniversaries. Bates was not keen on this approach, but relished the opportunity to write original stories. Unfortunately, Jonathan Tzachor shot down many of his ideas, such as his plans for the Power Rangers' civilian lives. Furthermore, other members of the production staff were on board with carbon-copying Super Sentai plots rather than make their own. During Super Megaforce, he faced new complications such as which footage to use and editing scripts he had no prior knowledge of. He resigned as story editor, but was persuaded to compress Goseiger's five-part finale into the two-parter "Vrak is Back".note Furthermore, squeezing 100 episodes of two different shows into a single 40 episode show created massive pacing problems. Episodes typically crammed in loads of Stock Footage, resulting in fights that could take as much as fifteen minutes. This left little for Character Development. Additionally, combining the Stock Footage of the Lighter and Softer Goseiger with the Darker and Edgier Gokaiger created wildly inconsistent characterization, with characters bouncing back and forth from calm and stoic to hyper and energetic and vice versa (the Pink Ranger got the worst of this). The cast begged the producers to let them do more than fight scenes, but were shot down every time. Super Megaforce kept Gokaiger's past Ranger morphs along with several Super Sentai teams that never actually made it to North America who simply appeared with no explanation outside of being "new powers". On top of all this, the anniversary aspect left the door open to cameos and appearances from past Rangers (as happened in Gokaiger). Of the hundred or so actors who played Power Rangers in the past 20 seasons, they brought back roughly 10, with actor after actor announcing they weren't returning either because they simply weren't asked or they declined the (apparently really bad) offer, and some of those that did return didn't even have speaking parts to show for it. An anniversary season with an interesting theme and incredible Stock footage built right in has sadly turned into a massive case of What Could Have Been.
MMPR will always be non-union, and anniversary seasons will be lackluster. Also, Power Rangers as guardian angels and anti-heroic pirates, is a big red flag for US TV censors. This is why MMPR wouldn't adapt new themes, and they're just stuck with generic sci-fi.
In terms of what I liked about Megaforce, I love Noah and the Blue Saber arc, while yes it's basically just a "Google Translate" version of Joe's arc from Gokaiger, it was good to see at least ONE ranger get development that they needed for the show. And even the Noah focused episode from the first season where he learns to be more confident in himself as a hero. They're both great and make Noah my favorite Megaforce ranger, and his actor is a really cool dude too.
@@ForrestFox626 definitely not, especially compared to other Ranger seasons like Lost Galaxy or RPM, not by a long shot. But, for Megaforce, it's at least something.
I believe they messed up with Megaforce by using the Gokaiger stuff, because Gokaiger had footage of pre-Zyuranger stuff. The could've easily just keep the Goseiger stuff to do an anniversary season. The five main Rangers had the same colours as the five original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and they had the cards too. They could have the Megaforce Rangers morph into past Rangers with the cards and Robo Knight would morph into past Sixth Rangers with cards too.
Simple answer: they adapted a Sentai which lots of people in the fandom watched the Sentai version first. Gokaiger (and arguably Shinkenger before) are probably the start of Sentai fandom outside Japan really rising compared to some years before.
The one thing I liked about Megaforce and Super Megaforce was the cast that they chose to pick the Rangers. They picked a very good group of actor and actresses to play the parts it's just that whoever wrote the story and the script seemed you didn't care about the Power Ranger brand at all. Mind you they should have just gotten a new team of Rangers for Super Megaforce and try to adapt to gokai storyline to fit and have tired adept different elements as well. The biggest crime is that the six Ranger who was introduced in Super Megaforce could have easily been brought over like how Tommy was in the first season and brought back to life or have the 6th be adapted into a super Power Ranger mega fan which I feel we were robbed of that experience altogether. Also the tributes to the different zords and Seasons could have been done a lot better with actors even openly wanting to come back to reprise their roles but they barely did anything with it. The other positive thing about this was the mild character development that each of the Rangers kind of got even though majority of it was chopped off on the cutting floor. Both seasons felt like a big slap to the face to long time fans and wish they could redo again.
We don't talke about Megaforce 🤫 On a serious note I have nothing but respect for the actors. The fact that they still go to events and are up for filming fan shorts says a lot. But yeah, I saw Gokaiger on RUclips and had high hopes for the American Adaptation. Saban filled me with rage.
The thing like I like about those 2 seasons is the ranger suits and some of the weapons and zords they used. They deserved better story lines though, and each one should have been made into its own 40 plus episode season.
The reason that power rangers Megaforce was split up into two seasons was because Saban was broadcasting the show on Nickelodeon and their requirements was that it cannot be a 40 episode season that's why the neo-sabon era consisted of the shows being split up into two seasons
@@ayoayo2601 all that explains is why the name remained the same between the seasons. It doesn't explain the irrational decision to try to fuse 2 different sets of storylines into one. They could have kept the first storyline, for example, and had the super season start after they got their power-up. That would have made more sense instead of the complicated mash up that they did.
season 1 should be power rangers ultra storm red ranger Oliver - lone free ranger yellow ranger Gabby - artist blue ranger Liam - stage actor pink ranger Penny - race car driver black ranger Reggie - rock singer robo knight - robot
I actually liked that they used some of the non-PR sent costumes. When they switched over to the Dairanger costumes for the first time, I had a fanboy moment, I just yelled, "Dairanger!" when they switched over because I hadn't expected it. I do agree with Linkara that the "never seen before" powers could have had a better explanation, though
I mean it’s still the same final battle as the Gokaigers’, but was really a reused and watered down version of it, given that they had to cut any shot with pre-Zyuranger Sentai.
@@dr.shrimpspuertorico4531 I think they made an Extended version of that site where he actually didn’t die in that exposion somehow and the whole team had to fight him they even did those special modes that the ranger teams have
I started getting back into Tokusatsu around the time Gokaiger was airing, I watched it and loved. Then I gave a chance to PR again when they adapted that Sentai season. As a casual fan, I didn't expect to love the Japanese series because I mostly enjoy watching or reading because of nostalgia. The PR season was such a letdown, it had basically nothing related to the original series.
for me it's the fact that the pirate theming is just... there. And its never used in any meaningful way I've always felt it would be cool for them to uncover/"pirate" previous sources of power while on their journey to add it to their own. Giving them the power to morph into previous Ranger teams while fighting against other bounty hunter type groups. Of course this being the anniversary season, I always imagined them ultimately finding the remnants of the Power Coins, and all the power they collected up to that point managed to restore the Power Coins, so they could use the Mighty Morphin Powers in some super fan service-y fashion in a fight or something
I really like Noah and Orion, Noah is a pretty cool character and had some cool focus episodes. And Orion had some funny moments and a cool back story.
All other reasons aside, my thought is they should've kept the story from the original. I legit wanted their 6th ranger to do the same as the sentai since he was a fan of sentai.
I haven’t seen (and don’t want to see) either show but from the clips I’ve seen and the cast interviews/convention panels I’m going to say because they took some of the most charismatic people ever cast in the series and made their characters cardboard.
@@DUBS606 Exactly his actor is so good and so charming! I was blown away seeing him in interviews as apposed the real robot of the season. It is such a bazar thing to see.
My main issue is that they are using powers that are said to be locked to a specific person without any real detail. I think in the OG the powers were able to be recreated because of reasons, but some powers belonged to an item or person and NOT the Grid. It made the powers feel less special overall. Also, If they made master morphers, why go with anything different? This feels like a concept meant to be used for a finally of a franchise rather than an anniversary. I think that them having a fused version of their suit with the key's source would have been better than just reusing old suits. Like Super + Wildforce, or something else, could have been very refreshing. I know they had to make the suits anyway in many cases due to the size and sex differences from the key user and the original ranger.
_"why do people hate Power Rangers Megaforce?"_ Everyone that watched it: *They just did not CARE!* And the only good thing I can say about Megafarce is; Dino Charge came afterwards.
My main problem was them using Gokaiger as a base for super megaforce, the difference between Goseiger and Gokaiger was so big and annoying since they wanted the colors to stay the same leading to Noah becoming a stubborn swordsman and the Black ranger to become a bit of a coward in fights
I did a video years ago ranking every Season up to Dino Charge and I ranked Mega Force & Super Mega Force last for a few reasons. Mega Force's main problem was adapting a Season of essentially 3 mini Sentai's into 1 20 episode Season, and Super Mega Force's main problem was lazily adapting 1 of the best Sentai Seasons with underwhelming tributes to past Ranger Seasons.
For me I don’t like how Gosei kept giving them more stuff for no reason while the Disney seasons worked for or learned lessons to earn their extra zords and powers
Another reason people didn't like it is the use of pre-Zyuranger powers, especially (it seems) because there was no explanation of where they came from. That was one of my favourite things about it, though.
Wouldn't make a lot of sense if the pre-Zyuranger teams were defenders of planets that ended up conquering by the Armada with the teams being wiped out but their powers were preserved by Gosei so those defenders' legacies would carry on?
The whole thing was like watching a little kid drink a dozen Red Bulls, dump out the toy box, and just smash all the action figures together.
Do we get to know anything about the previous teams' powers they're using? Is there ever a reason given WHY they need to use this particular set of powers instead of a different one? Do they even really "use" the powers of the previous teams, or are they only dressing up in their suits for like 30 seconds of screen time to do what they could have done just as well without switching powers at all? Is "briefly show me thing I remember from previous season because nostalgia" all the writers know how to do? Well... "there's a simple explanation for that."
Unlike Samurai, Megaforce did have characters. But unfortunately lacked story. Super Megaforce did have cool moments like the debut of the Dairanger suits and the episode with Casey. And we got the surprise of seeing some Pre Zyu suits. The biggest reason Super Megaforce is hated is that so much more could've done with this season, but ultimately wasn't.
It's such a shame they threw away what could have been the best episode ever in legendary battle The original brought stories to a conclusion bringing back fam favourites but power rangers gave us JDF (awesome work in tge episode) and others doing nothing more than taking their helmets off and smiling
I can list a few things about Megaforce that are less terrible. The main cast are all pretty great people. I met Andrew Grey (Troy) at a con, and he was a really stand-up guy. He talked about how the whole cast got along really well and never got into fights while filming, which I thought was nice. They've all made con appearances, and been genuinely nice people despite how reviled their season is. Also, Ciara Hanna (Gia) is infamous for how in touch with her role she is, making numerous con appearances, getting so into the role that she destroyed her voice numerous times across MF and SMF, and making numerous return appearances, like Battle for the Grid and Dimensions in Danger. Also, while Super Megaforce certainly isn't a GOOD anniversary season, it is at least cool seeing all that Gokaiger stock footage of them switching teams on the fly and bringing back all these suits and weapons, translating all of that into Power Rangers. Seeing returning actors is also objectively fun, even if most of them barely got any time to work with, and the Disney era (the best seasons) got shafted pretty hard. I do actually think Casey got off fairly well, though, probably owing to the fact that his actor was a presence in the writer's room, and most likely was the only one actually trying.
Saying this show is mid is honestly an understatement. Both Megaforce and Super Megaforce are atrocious. And I honestly wish they were removed from canon but, we all know that isn’t happening.
@@lukejones7164 I'd rather watch overdrive over megaforce cause as much as a flop as overdrive was they at the very least tried the problem with that season wasn't that it didn't have good ideas its just the execution was either piss poor at best or horrible at worst.
I would have liked it better if they had better plot surrounding the ranger keys and why Gosei is there. It would have been a little intriguing if they questioned Gosei as their leader just to have the stakes higher.
Jonathan Tzachor really fucked us over. "I like Sentai, let's just make it the Sentai. It's better than Power Rangers so we'll just add the name for brand recognition. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, because the Sentai is perfect." Fans: "This isn't the Sentai, no one gives a shit how much you like the Sentai, this is Power Rangers. Give the characters depth, find a way to make things good and honour past seasons, or the fans will hate you." Tzachor: "My name is Hank Hill, and I make Sentai and Sentai accessories."
Regarding the one good thing bout MF/SMF, I always loved the cinematography in many shots. Namely thinking of the shot in Vrak is Back Part. 2, with the Megaforce Rangers running towards Orion on the beach, that shot was godly and it shows that there was so much potential for this season, but Saban and Tzachor held that potential back. Also, Orion. Orion is awesome.
I was hoping that the entire season would have the team learn more from their predecessors of Power Rangers teams of the past that way it would help them become their own team as well as honor the past leading into the final two episodes showcasing the legendary battle. This time the legendary battle would be worth it in watching as it would be them using what learn into this final fight.
I really like the megaforce suits. I’ve always been a sucker for when they include gold in the designs. And despite how poorly the legendary battle was executed, it was great to see all the ranger teams together
@@WhatShallEyeDo4U My favorite seasons are:Time Force,In Space,Dino Thunder,And RPM. And I know this off topic; But there was this guy who said and I quote: Power Rangers was never good.
Megaforce/Super Megaforce was a very frustrating show for me. But the thing is, it all could have worked - Merging both Goseiger and Gokaiger could have worked. Sadly, Tzachor seemingly had different priorities and said priorities did nobody any favors in the end and what we got is an example of how NOT to make an anniversary season for any popular franchise.
I haven’t watched power Ranger seriously after Jungle Fury ended. I like the concept of Megaforce and having all of the suits come back here and there. However, the Zordon and Alpha-5 rip off were annoying to see, what purpose they had besides be what Mighty Morphin Had. Another thing that bothered me is the amount of time they morphed into “legendary rangers”. There’s so much more I could say about the big collab with every ranger coming to help them but I’ll just say this. Megaforce was a good concept in theory but executed poorly.
When it comes to mega/super I think it's biggest downfall is that it's ok. JUST ok. It's not my least favorite season, but it's pretty down there in comparison to so many other great seasons both before and after. They didn't really take any risks. It really felt like they tried to be as by the numbers as they possibly could of, which is not the direction you should want to take with an anniversary season.
I loved how in super megaforce included other non-American sentai s instead of just the American character and I liked how some of the megaforce ranger cards had some and/or most of the early sentais in the cards
The only thing good about super Megaforce is that the megazord fights were extremely unique and Noah's character development cuz nobody else got character development but him
One thing I loved about Megaforce is the pirate theme. Yeah, it doesn't make sense or fit but it's so cool, the suits, the weapons, the zords, the steering wheel control and the fight on the moon with the Pirate Megazord were all just pure awesomeness.
I've never seen Super/Megaforce but the suits are part of the reason why I'm still curious enough to watch the show. If I can tolerate Turbo (including its pilot movie which Divatox was darker, more intimidating, and nastier), I don't see why I shouldn't check out the Samurai and Megaforce seasons. Same with Operation Overdrive. Guess I have a lotta patience. I mean, Mighty Morphin to Turbo was cheesy as well as Ninja Storm. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I will say that credit where credit is due, the Jungle Fury tribute episode was at least good. Not great, but kudos to Jason Smith for likely convincing Tzachor to allow a Jungle Fury tribute episode since Smith was a writer. As Linkara has said, because Jungle Fury never had a crossover episode aside from the blink and you'll miss it pizza place Easter egg in RPM, we got a crossover with Jungle Fury and even if it isn't as good as it could've been, it was good.
Awesome video 👍 Este guessing not everyone likes because it didn't have the same sentai element or a great ending song plus thanks for another ranger update on all things power rangers/super sentai
"MegaForce" and "Super MegaForce" made me appreciate their Sentai counterparts a lot more. Solidifying "Gokaiger" as my favourite Sentai season of all time...maybe, my favourite tokusatsu show of all time.
ok one good thing that I can say about megaforce, is that Troy had that good line where he says to a group of bullies "take a good look, do you see any tears"... that's all I've got. (I was gonna say something like "it was a season of power rangers", but then I thought of that)
The one question that kept popping up in my mind at the time was why diddnt they just pull a power rangers zeo? Lose the old powers and get new ones. They even had an episode where there goseiger morphers got damaged right before they got the gokaiger powers.
What people DON’T seem to realize is that megaforce/super is SUPPOSED to be a GOESIGER adaptation, and then gokiager is awkwardly slapped on by the second half. Which is ironic, since the reason why I bring this up is because to this day, whenever I hear people talking about how much they hate this series, 95% of the time, they ONLY rant about the gokiager half, not the goesiger half.
Things that they made good in my opinion: Even thought seem force, I like the way they introduce pre-Zyuranger teams. Comic writers use this to make some good stories of them (Even thought half of them are sleeping with the fishes but never mind.) ... . . . It introduce me to Gokaiger...
A small list of good things that came out of mega Force and super Megaforce are.. They introduced the Dairanges suits with the MM White suit. I think they introduced a movie me a/ Megazord in one episode. The actress who played the yellow ranger was pretty much one of the best, also silver ranger was pretty good too. Saw some returning costumes and mixing the different teams suits together. Revealing some older and unreleased costumes as different teams. And new Zords is always a good thing.
12:44 My first Power Rangers season was Samurai And as a kid Super Megaforce turned me away from Power Rangers for a while I couldn’t stand how little sense it made
One good thing : I loved watching people collecting the key thing, also didn’t they all have like 1 huge comeback at the end of the season? That was godlike.
I have Super Mega Force to thank for only one thing. It was the first power rangers series I watched seriously since Dino Thunder and it was because of it that I eventually watched Dino Charge. Dino Charge reminded me of everything I'd ever enjoyed about power rangers.
Not so Fun Fact: Basco’s actor (Kei Hosogai) actually wanted to be in Super MegaForce and was willing to do reprise his role from Gokaiger for FREE and can speak English. Unfortunately Saban turned him down…
WHAT
Biggest L in the history of power rangers I would love to have a cross over of pr and sentai
REALLY?!!!!
Yep, he was willing and able to show up and redo his Gokaiger scenes in English so they can properly adapt his Sentai Footage
Which makes Saban SUPER stupid for turning him down
There is literally no excuse but being arrogant and lazy dumbasses to turn down such an easy thing
Daang Basco was a Great Character His Interaction and fight with Marvelous was one of my fave in Gokaiger
- "So what's wrong with Megaforce?"
- "Well first of all, EVERYTHING! And second.... EVEN MORE SOMEHOW!!!"
There's also the fact that Gokaiger had the same audience and it was good
I also get the aimed at kids things, but it wasn’t fair for past and present fans. The present couldn’t t recognize the past rangers
Think of the children!!!!

If anything, I do appreciate Megaforce/Super Megaforce for being the last PR series to not use any exclusive cockpit power-ups or weapons. As well as no unnecessary extra long morph calls, because recently they’re adding extra lines to the main morph sequence.
Hard agree.
Go brown ranger power of the dung digiy digisong Ugh uhuhhuj kwampapapaa boom!

I know for fact they did because I always use to say how weird that they never would acknowledge how they're space pirates, but would have Troy doing a monologue and roll call while in space.
For some reason all the official morphing trailers on RUclips omits that part of their morphing sequence.
For me, what irks me about Gosei is that he explains "he was created by Zordon, to give his power to the chosen rangers, when the earth was in desperate need of help." But there has been calamities ten times worse than what the Megaforce Rangers faced and Gosei did nothing to help then.
indeed that is wuite messed up
Earth was invaded by aliens, threatened to be dominated by some animal demon, and just the latest one, was invaded by some extra dimensional monsters that wanted to split it open and flood it with some poisonous red water,
however the only explanation was in the show's intro narration was the the Alien armada was stronger and more ferocious than all the other threats, which is quite silly if you ask me
No Zordon was his mentor not his creator.
I can get behind Goseiger not getting a good adaptation but Gokaiger was straight up DISRESPECTED with Super Megaforce.
Agreed

Which I’m not certain about as that’s from second hand sources
speaking of Dino Thunder, idk this is right or not "they have another plots"
@@dearickangelonej.legaspi6686 there were also many episodes where there were gokai changes with many adapted seasons, mainly in basco arc
They really couldn’t do that. It would contradict everything in the first episode from troys dream and that would just add to the list of complaints
there's an easy set up for the megaforce powers, in megaforce (1st season) Goesi and Tensu say to them, "we need to prepare for something that may be coming" and in that episode the rangers learn to NOT use their powers as a crutch and then when Super megaforce starts they say to them "remember that time we took your morphers away to prepare this is what we were doing"
and then they get the megaforce keys

That would contradict the very first episode of megaforce 🤣
My favorite moment was when Troy yelled: ROBO KNIGHT, YOU HAVE A MISSION TO FULFILL! That line always gave me goosebumps

The reasons I can come up with:
- People compare it to Gokaiger, without understanding why the sentai season was able to get so many people back for cheap.
- Failed potential in so many ways/
Opinions:
- Using sentai exclusive suits. (The fault is how they got used with no meaning beside easier editing of footage, not that they got used)
- Hating certain characters
- Hating the Zords
- How it could have been fixed.
Vinaigrette to be fair gokaiger had the benefit of having most of the returning actors living in the Tokyo area.

@@TheRealBlazingDiamond It's just too bad they canned the card game.

I haven't watched the video yet but here's my reasons for why megaforce and super megaforce are hated:
1. Gokaiger and Gosaiger (or however it's pronounced) were two different shows with different plots so trying to make them into one show would have failed
2. You can tell the show was filled with stereotypical highschool tropes
3. "New ranger powers never seen before"
4. The crossovers (like the rangers going into the RPM universe) didn't feel really that special
"Legendary ranger mode bring on the new powers" how can something be 'new' and legendary
it's goseiger I believe, (like gosei).
for #4, i would never call that place the RPM universe because one, that place was more about being a wasteland and 2, there was never a section of the city with that set up.
He resigned as story editor, but was persuaded to compress Goseiger's five-part finale into the two-parter "Vrak is Back".note
Furthermore, squeezing 100 episodes of two different shows into a single 40 episode show created massive pacing problems.

We don't talke about Megaforce 🤫
On a serious note I have nothing but respect for the actors. The fact that they still go to events and are up for filming fan shorts says a lot. But yeah, I saw Gokaiger on RUclips and had high hopes for the American Adaptation. Saban filled me with rage.

One thing I liked about power rangers megaforce and super megaforce is Power Rangers Dino Charge came along after it ended.

I also love the music they use. The mega force morphs are almost as good as the Goseiger transformations.

yellow ranger Gabby - artist
blue ranger Liam - stage actor
pink ranger Penny - race car driver

I actually liked that they used some of the non-PR sent costumes. When they switched over to the Dairanger costumes for the first time, I had a fanboy moment, I just yelled, "Dairanger!" when they switched over because I hadn't expected it. I do agree with Linkara that the "never seen before" powers could have had a better explanation, though
The Disney Brain made good points in his apology of MegaForce so anything good you wanna hear about MegaForce watch his re-review of MegaForce.
Sevetal things I do like about these two seasons is Orion, Robo Knight, the zords, and the keys that allow them to turn into legendary rangers.
One good thing about Megaforce/Super Megaforce: Emperor Mavro had a interesting design, and a not so bad final fight.
I mean it’s still the same final battle as the Gokaigers’, but was really a reused and watered down version of it, given that they had to cut any shot with pre-Zyuranger Sentai.
@@cyberdragoon1432 That fact really speaks to the shows quality. They should have kept the entire fight. It really showed the Emperor's power.
@@dr.shrimpspuertorico4531 I think they made an Extended version of that site where he actually didn’t die in that exposion somehow and the whole team had to fight him they even did those special modes that the ranger teams have
The extended fight wasn’t that bad. But the televised fight was kinda whatever
The best thing about both of these seasons was….that they ENDED
for me it's the fact that the pirate theming is just... there. And its never used in any meaningful way
I've always felt it would be cool for them to uncover/"pirate" previous sources of power while on their journey to add it to their own.
Very true the red ranger actor is very charismatic at conventions and in interviews. But they strip that all away from him in the show
@@DUBS606 Exactly his actor is so good and so charming! I was blown away seeing him in interviews as apposed the real robot of the season. It is such a bazar thing to see.
@@DUBS606Yas, Andrew Gray is amazing but after rewatching it, they take off the red ranger charm in Megaforce
If I’m being honest, the insert song that plays when they go “super mega” is pretty good
The worst crime of Super MegaForce was that it wasted one of the best Super Sentais of all time
_"why do people hate Power Rangers Megaforce?"_
Everyone that watched it: *They just did not CARE!*
And the only good thing I can say about Megafarce is; Dino Charge came afterwards.
LITERALLY!! XD I loved Dino Charge!
@@ShinoriDelfrimme too, in my opinion it has the best theme song
Megaforce did show a pre-Zyuranger i think.
Ngl I really liked Jayden’s cameo in Samurai Surprise. Samurai was my first season so it was cool to see him.
You insult a child, at least with the kid I ain't expecting quality
Far too complex for you to understand
Unlike Samurai, Megaforce did have characters. But unfortunately lacked story. Super Megaforce did have cool moments like the debut of the Dairanger suits and the episode with Casey. And we got the surprise of seeing some Pre Zyu suits. The biggest reason Super Megaforce is hated is that so much more could've done with this season, but ultimately wasn't.
Oh yes... I like Megaforce characters, the problem is they dind't have nothing. Samurai just copied the characters of Sentai.
It's such a shame they threw away what could have been the best episode ever in legendary battle
The original brought stories to a conclusion bringing back fam favourites but power rangers gave us JDF (awesome work in tge episode) and others doing nothing more than taking their helmets off and smiling
From what I've heard the Gokaiger one is longer with a lot more moving parts
Operation Overdrive is a masterpiece compared to (Super) Megaforce
@@lukejones7164 it really is
No reason to remove it from canon since it does basicaly nothing
@@lukejones7164 I'd rather watch overdrive over megaforce cause as much as a flop as overdrive was they at the very least tried the problem with that season wasn't that it didn't have good ideas its just the execution was either piss poor at best or horrible at worst.
Okay harsh. Neither show was that bad.
Good thing about Super Megaforce; It sparked a discussion about Gokaiger and how beloved super sentai franchise is among US power rangers fanbase
I would have liked it better if they had better plot surrounding the ranger keys and why Gosei is there. It would have been a little intriguing if they questioned Gosei as their leader just to have the stakes higher.
I don't hate Megaforce.
I HATE SUPER MEGAFORCE!
The best thing about Megaforce was Orion’s 2 part introduction
Yeah
Jonathan Tzachor really fucked us over. "I like Sentai, let's just make it the Sentai. It's better than Power Rangers so we'll just add the name for brand recognition. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, because the Sentai is perfect."
Fans: "This isn't the Sentai, no one gives a shit how much you like the Sentai, this is Power Rangers. Give the characters depth, find a way to make things good and honour past seasons, or the fans will hate you."
Tzachor: "My name is Hank Hill, and I make Sentai and Sentai accessories."
He like Sentai but somehow afraid of using Goranger and JAKQ into the series🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ weak
The only good thing in Megaforce in my opinion is that they could turn into different rangers and that was fun to watch for people starting to watch
I mostly liked watching the gokaiger suits it was cool seeing them in HD.... that's the only positive I can think of.
The only thing Megaforce did right was make us appreciate Goseiger and Gokaiger much more.
What Saban should have done was translating the entire gokaiger script to English
I really like the megaforce suits. I’ve always been a sucker for when they include gold in the designs. And despite how poorly the legendary battle was executed, it was great to see all the ranger teams together
The Best thing about Mega Force and Super Mega Force...
It Ended.
What is your favorite season ?
@@savagedarksider5934 I would say PRiS, TF, RPM, DT, and SPD. My favorite season title bounces around between all of those.
@@WhatShallEyeDo4U My favorite seasons are:Time Force,In Space,Dino Thunder,And RPM. And I know this off topic; But there was this guy who said and I quote: Power Rangers was never good.
@@savagedarksider5934 sounds like someone who shouldn't watch it then...? 🤣
@@WhatShallEyeDo4U I think you mean: Sounds like A ignorance.
orion’s character was done pretty well tbh. really the only character with a backstory
Super megaforce had potential to bring back past rangers alot but never happened.
Good thing: Casey returned
When it comes to mega/super I think it's biggest downfall is that it's ok. JUST ok. It's not my least favorite season, but it's pretty down there in comparison to so many other great seasons both before and after. They didn't really take any risks. It really felt like they tried to be as by the numbers as they possibly could of, which is not the direction you should want to take with an anniversary season.
You Know, Watching Megaforce Is Not Good, But Nostalgia At The Same Time.
You see this season is the definition of lazy but it's a bizarre form of laziness they will put effort into things just the wrong things
One good thing was it was nice to see the older teams back in action
I loved how in super megaforce included other non-American sentai s instead of just the American character and I liked how some of the megaforce ranger cards had some and/or most of the early sentais in the cards
One thing that confused me is that Super Mega Force mode is somehow more powerful than Ultramode.
The only thing good about super Megaforce is that the megazord fights were extremely unique and Noah's character development cuz nobody else got character development but him
megaforce and super megaforce were the only power rangers series i really watched often, besides sometimes samurai. i loved the silver ranger as a kid
Too bad is mediocre.
(I was gonna say something like "it was a season of power rangers", but then I thought of that)
Personally, I loved watching Megaforce. Robo Knight's story was my favorite aspect of the entire series. :)
first but also super Megaforce should have been realessed after Dino fury with new characters too
bro megaforce is old dino fury new
@@Meliodas11014 ik it is but if they still aired Megaforce then waited for super Megaforce they should have aired it after Dino fury
The one question that kept popping up in my mind at the time was why diddnt they just pull a power rangers zeo? Lose the old powers and get new ones. They even had an episode where there goseiger morphers got damaged right before they got the gokaiger powers.
I really like Gia and a few other cast members, but the overall tone is so childish and shallow that it just wasted epic source material
Things that they made good in my opinion:
Even thought seem force, I like the way they introduce pre-Zyuranger teams. Comic writers use this to make some good stories of them (Even thought half of them are sleeping with the fishes but never mind.)

Good thing about mega force is that it potentially introduced kids to sentai with those “new powers”
They could have at least given them a name
@@Phoenix_Blader_93 they gave some names.
Dairanger was squadron
Maskman was I believe blitz
Fiveman was supersonic
Etc
@@michaelrhett4958 didn't that happen during the fight in the last 2 episodes?

12:44 My first Power Rangers season was Samurai
And as a kid Super Megaforce turned me away from Power Rangers for a while I couldn’t stand how little sense it made
One good thing : I loved watching people collecting the key thing, also didn’t they all have like 1 huge comeback at the end of the season? That was godlike.
I have Super Mega Force to thank for only one thing. It was the first power rangers series I watched seriously since Dino Thunder and it was because of it that I eventually watched Dino Charge. Dino Charge reminded me of everything I'd ever enjoyed about power rangers.
Emma and Gia were the only good things from Megaforce for me
