This was one of the coolest songs used in Miami Vice... and during the scene where Viggo Mortenson got blown up! Pretty harsh treatment for the future King Aragorn in Lord of the Rings!
After more than 26 years - 9646 days exactly - I finally found it!!! In all these years it made me totally crazy that there is a song which I had in the back of my head but I never heard it again in the radio - they play every old shit but not this great piece of music.
Привет фанатам хорошей музыки! Эта группа очень самобытная и оригинальная. Таких всегда было мало, а уж в нынешние времена и вовсе нет, к сожалению!💯🔥🤝
Just like you said ...they really play every old shit and I'm listening to oldie stations on a daily basis. And about 2 weeks ago I came across this song in a 80s TV live performance . And then ..Boom!! Haven't heard this song since at least 30 years and was immediately struck 😅 it was so deeply buried in my head and I was just amazed to hear it again after all these decades 😅👍🏻👍🏻
In the late 80's I moved into an apartment with a crawlspace and found in there a little 'bubble stereo', record player, abandoned. This was Ottawa, a city of treasures waiting to be discovered and shined up. I remember scooting into the crawlspace with 'Immunity', and a doob on a rainy afternoon. Wow, the moments you have alone.
This song literally guts me to this day for a million different reasons -- I pray there's something in the current generation's music that can literally do the same but I'm not holding out hope. This is pure magic
Don’t know what’s blown my mind more, the fact I’ve finally found this song after years like most of you, or the fact that Julian Clary was employed by Rupert Hine as a fake keyboard player!!!!!!!
The song comes from the album "The Formula" - originally conceived as a soundtrack to a film that never got made (about media terrorists 'Thinkman'). A really good album - check it out.
Did he just get models to play the bandmembers? I never understood what Hines's plan was for Thinkman. Did he want us to think it was a real band? Or just separate his work based on sound and message?
@@119Agent he thought he was too old so he formed a "band" as his creative outlet. The actual list of collaborators on Thinkman albums make Unkle feature galore seem tame - legit who's who of 80s musicians
Dad bought me some vinyl records on the net for little money. Found Thinkman's album between The Fixx's "Reach The Beach" and Living In A Box's eponymous album. I really liked "Best Adventures" and "The Formula" and I'm glad they're on RUclips and Spotify but it saddens me to see that Thinkman is this much underrated.
i didn't bought the cd...it came to me. somebody put it in my stuff...now it is one of my best music - cd's. the value in my mind is more from year to year. ... very good job, old fellows. as long as i breathe, i 'll never forget you. (born '56)
Another alltime classic from the much too young died Rupert. Good, that he has taken the LP-version of this song for the clip, the 7" has additional keyboards, which do not sound so very good.
Hey Man, great, thanks for posting!! Very good sound and quality!!! Takes me back in the 80s, when I was much younger... and these sounds built the sound of my dreams...
Ive been trying to find out who sings this song ive heard it on the red tape episode it's sounds real good..finally ...it' just pop out of nowhere I finally get to hear it over and over again..cool yes!!
the singer is the only "real" band member, all the others are actors miming for the music video. the Thinkman albums are Rupert Hine solo albums with contributions from various guest musicians.
Rupert Hine played all the Instruments and U are correct that he did it all including producing, Financing, engineering and did it all here in Canada. The Formula remains one of my top ten "ALBUMS" of all time.
Geraldine Mcewans son Greg Crutwell is part of the backing group playing drums. Was an actor like his mum but then disappeared off screen after doing george of the jungle with brendan fraser. Now he is chairman and manager of Balham football club.
I have this album! A radio station was changing formats and me and the Houseman from a nearby hotel found tons of albums that were being thrown out! Just popped into my head today, didn't think I'd actually find it here! (My turntable is currently not working).
By the way, do you remember on this album, THE DAYS OF A CHAMPION ?... "No more prizes, no more accolads"... etc Probably the song of an old boxer... 😘
I love this "band", but I doubt they were hurting for money, as they weren't really a band at all, it was just a project, an experiment of sorts by Rupert Hine, a very prolific and successful producer from the 80s, the "band was pretty much just him, the "members" of the band, other than himself were all actors.
Miami Vice's "Red Tape". One of the best MV scenes. This song that accompanies it is haunting.
This was one of the coolest songs used in Miami Vice... and during the scene where Viggo Mortenson got blown up! Pretty harsh treatment for the future King Aragorn in Lord of the Rings!
@Miss Sarah N. Hammond We should all be so lucky.
Red Tape... one of the best episodes.
One of the best 80s hits that were never hits. A perfect pop song. It is simply beyond me how it remained so obscure.
RIP Rupert Hine! More than just Rush's producer, a legend in his own right.
The fixx, Stevie Nicks, rush, saga, Howard Jones Rupert Hine was and always be a true producer and musical genius 😊

Me too ive been trying to find this song for a very long time been hearing it over and over again..awesome beat sound and good song!
I’ve finally found it today, after 34 years!! Those little things makes you happy!
Glad to see I wasn't the only one looking for this song too lol. The wonders of technology.

S3 E19 :-) In case you wanna see it again :-)
@@thomjones9719 I watched it yesterday. One of my favourites.
the whole LP is great
still have it in my cabinet...
Mr Hine is an unsung hero of 80s pop music. Rest in Peace.

80's forever !!
I know the 80's. I am the 80's. But I've never heard this song before. And I love it. 80's I'm in love. I love this song.
Get the album.
Awesome tune & album!!!
Rupert Hine was way ahead of his time... what an artist!
Einfach nur klasse
😊😊😊
Einfach nur geil
seit damals nicht mehr gehört. Ich hatte mal die LP...war ne geile Zeit und viel gute Musik.

No group - just Rupert trying to break the record company paradigm. Julian Clary a star is born!
The song comes from the album "The Formula" - originally conceived as a soundtrack to a film that never got made (about media terrorists 'Thinkman'). A really good album - check it out.
Good old rupert hine...great producer and artist.
R.i.p. Rupert and childhood memories :(
What a gem, from one of the most prolific producers musicians ever. I'd not even known Rupert made this. How superb!
Julian Clary is hilarious as 'keyboardist' Leo Hurll. Love it!

Miami vice. Great track.
This just about sums up the fun in "mood" music featured in the Miami Vice adventures, how about that Pal! Good times.....
Brings back tons of 80s memories! Epic tune
80s to the max - loving ths one! soundtrack of my youth.

Klasse Hit,einfach geil.
Yup just been watching "Red Tape" - episode opening early morning Nemo Hotel bust Lou Diamond Phillips co-stars
And Aragorn getting blown up :)
This is really quite good. Given his producer cred, I'm surprised this didn't get more play. Or any, outside of Miami Vice
Fantastic Song, love the 80es😍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Working overtime

60's, 70's era music culminating in the '80s! '80s had style.
This was actually a breakup song for me, many years ago.

Yes...die habe ich sogar noch als Maxi Single
Das ganze Album war super. Habe ich damals blind gekauft aufgrund einer sehr guten Rezension in einer HiFi-Fachzeitschrift und wurde nicht enttäuscht.
Rupert Hine is a true genius .
I saw a clip of this video on a TV show in the late 1990's....just had to have the record! LOVE IT!
R.I.P. RUPERT HINE
yeaaaahhhh!!!! Dank Steffi Tücking wieder entdeckt. Einfach genial.
Listen, if you wanna be in our band, you have to wear a headset, Bugle Boy jeans, love Bowie, keytars & standing.
You say that like it's a bad thing.

Perfect! Thank you! :-)

What ´s up with the low views ?
I admit I'm more fan of pure instruments bands and less the cold electronics, but this band deserved better sales figures than they reached.
