It is amazing how four truly magnificent dancers can portray Raymonda so beautifully yet uniquely with their own characterizations. My eyes were enchanted by the delicate grace of Novikova & the sure grace of Tereshkina.
Except that Plisetskaya blows them all out of the water. Sorry, but slowing down a variation doesn't make it "spiritual." But lovely to see the Kolpakova video...never seen it before.
K is radiant, B elegant, T the excellent technician. N a very lyrical dancer but her variation lacks purpose. Must be the tempo, it's excruciatingly slow. I get a sense sense of character from K, not so much from the others, none from N.

Bessmertnova and her damn wrists. She had to have been the most idiosyncratic ballerina of her generation.
N’s tempo is very slow indeed. Self indulgently slow.
