Thankyou very much. I had same problem, I could follow your steps carefully and able to repair my autofocus cable, I soldered the motor and the sensor to the new cable purchased form amazon india with the help of a lcd tv repair person. It is working well now, able to recover my costly lens. One confusion, while reassembling, there are 4 screws inside the last black piece with power ois switch and only two screws through that piece. But in your video you are telling to put 4 screws outside this piece. kindly reverify, may be I misunderstood, i dont know. Thankyou again for a very detailed and complete video.
Glad it helped, This video is divided into 2 parts, when dismantling is in part 1, and when installing new parts is in part 2, there are some parts that have 4 screws, I don't remember for sure, if you can provide a timeline on the video, maybe I can help explain that part
I need to replace the front lens element filter adapter ring as it got damaged. The lens is otherwise working fine. Do you know how to remove the front filter adapter ring? Do I need to disassemble the lens like you did or is there a way to remove it from the front?
Hi and thanks for an amazing video tear down. Is this the only way to dismantle the lens, from the back? I'm asking because I have dust within the lens seen from the front side. I've seen other videos with lens cleaning where they go inside from the front. Just asking to be clear before I start my tear down process. My lense is not mrk II but I gues it's the samme otherwise (?).
I'm looking forward to part 2 of this video. I have a GH4 and a lens like this, panasonic 12-35mm 2.8 Power O.I.S. I live in Brazil and here we do not have access to spare parts and authorized maintenance for this lens.
I'm uploading part 2 of this video, there are authorized service in my country, but the service fees too high, 80% of the price of the lens, so, i don't bother to ask them for repair this lens. I bought this part from China, you can find on Amazon or eBay for part
Hey there, I have the mark II. of this lens, my question is, do I need to tear down the whole lens like in this video if I only want to clean some dust from the inside part of the front glasses? Thank you!
It depends on the experiences, skills, and tools you own. If you have experience repairing lens before, might be easy to start from the front lens, but I recommended to send your lens to repairs shop since it is very risky for someone who never has an experience repairing or cleaning the lense before hand.
Hi there, do you know if focus working only on certain zoom position is related to this flex? My 12-35mm only focus on distances between 12-14mm and 30-35mm, in the other focal distances the lens do something like small focus hunting but doesn't focus at all, not in auto nor manual focus
For the case with your lens, my guess is a flexible cable for focusing. You can see installation details in part 2 of this video and related cases in the video comments
Hello, I'm trying to find the way to open 14-140 3.5/5.6 from the front side. I have some sort of dots on the internal part of front lens. I'm looking everywhere and i can't find any information. There is only one video about 14-140 but author had the oldest version with f/4 -5.6 which is diffrent lens :/ Do you have any ideas ? Ps. Congrats for making it work properly again ! :)
I never work with that lens before, but if you want to start a diassembly lens from the front side, you need fews tools, such as a lens spanner, lens silicon vacuum pad kits. Mostly lens glass using some kinda glues from the factory, so it's risky work for an amateur. I recommended you to bring your lens to the repairs shop because it's risky if you dont have any experience repairng lens before hand.
@@lorandlaszlolakner it seems to be so. I took apart my lumix 100-300mm easily from the front (but fungus was between the 2 glass pieces and I couldn’t get in there). The 12-35 doesn’t seem to have a way through the front.

Never mind. I did enter from the front end. Super easy but I maybe I need some new adhesive . Du you know where to get that? Circular.

Hi, Can you please tell me where you purchased the screwdriver set you are using?
For scewdrivers, mine just generic one, I believe its mix philips and JIS bits, you can find easily on Amazon or eBay for this tool
