The Marlins with Alcantara & Fernandez? Thats a 1-2 Punch.
Plus that hitting core would make them helpful.

I think it's important that Jose impacted others on the platform of a baseball field. He was kind and genuine not only to other baseball players but to the fans, no matter who they were. It didn't matter if he was pitching, batting, fielding, or looking on even though wasn't going to get the decision at the end of the game. He respected the game and had a blast. That's how baseball is supposed to be played and I wish more players took notice. When I think of Jose, I seldomly think of his blazing 4seam fastball or his beautiful sweeping curveball. I think of his smile and how he never overlooked the young fan in the crowd who wasn't making the money of a baseball player. He didn't care about fame, ever. He just wanted to play the game, simple as that. So I say, Thank you Jose. You left a profound impact on me by who you were as a human being. Your soul will live on. Forever immortal.

I will never forget José...a hero to the entire Cuban community. my heart breaks for his family and the entire world that lost a beautiful soul, a wonderful, loving and compassionate human being...baseball aside we lost a lovely person. Baseball is a game played by young men who should have many years ahead of them after baseball, its just a job and we forget that these guys are human sometimes...being an ace pitcher is secondary to being a good person, and above all else; José was a good person.

I would just like to have the chance to share how Jose Fernandez changed my life. I'm a 18 year old kid here in the Philippines that got offered a scholarship to play in one of the biggest universities here. This guy showed me how fun it is to be out there on the mound mowing people down. This guy showed me the feeling of contentment when you strike guys out. I used to throw high 70s by my junior year, no college scouts would look at how I pitch. They just see me as someone who goes to a private school but isn't talented. Then after training and reconstructing my pitching motion (which i modeled after this guy), I started throwing mid 80s and sometimes touching 90. Got offered to play UAAP ball (which is like d1 in the states). Man this guy showed me a lot. And still up to this day, I can't believe he is gone. Thanks for everything man. When I make it to the bigs, I'll rock your number. JF16 🔥

Fernandez was really on his way to becoming something really special in baseball. Unfortunately we'll never know what could have been. He made a poor choice and unfortunately paid the ultimate price but for the short time he played baseball he was such a gem to watch. He made it look so effortless and easy. And I don't even think he was close to reaching his peak. A real loss to the game.

Faced him in HS and it was like nothing I had ever ever seen. What made him good was his “slurve” that looked like a fastball and his demeanor on the mound. This combination would “freeze” batters when they couldn’t afford to be frozen. He could also stroke well at bay so he was just an all around threat.

It was very tragic to hear about this young promising baseball pitcher's death. He had a very promising career. But let us not fooled, though, as tragic as his death was, we all need to see it as a stark reminder of how easily life can continuously give us all the warning sighs of impending doom, yet we continue to ignore them. Jose had captivating smile and charming personality for sure, that can't be denied, but unknown to most of his fans & maybe even his family, his Mom & beloved Grandma too, he was on a path of self destruction, which in fact ended just as quickly as his stardom rose & it cost the world, 3 lives, not just one talented ballplayer. Remember that.
He was high on cocaine, and double the legal alcohol limit when he crashed his boat, full speed, into that jetty, killing himself and two of his friends. He reminded me of the similarities to Tiger Woods fall from grace. Both let fame and fortune take over self respect, common sense and their sense of personal responsibility. Jose was what many young ballplayers looked up to, which carries such a huge responsibility, most never realize the depth of it's social importance. Tiger did, after it was to late for him & his family life. Both were praise by all who knew him. Some called Jose "An Angel". He was an excellent pitcher, but he was no Angel. That's almost blasphemy in the eyes of God.
He had a God given talent, and his arrogance towards God's greatest gift of all....LIFE, cost him everything, and he effectively murdered two others on his deadly path of self destruction & his ultimate death.
They call Cocaine "the liars drug". I wonder what his life would of been like today, if he never took that boat out for a ride? If he stayed on that path, I think its plausible, it could of been a very long drawn out sad and tragic story. Maybe his quiet and sudden death was merciful in some ways. Think of OJ Simpson and his fall from grace. Millions love him...or rather, loved the person we thought was he was..."The Juice." But he sat with the devil and walked the devils path too, didn't he? Look where that path brought him? Think about that for a moment & all the lives HIS PATH destroyed.
I'm not trying to shame Jose. That is absolutely NOT my intention here. But what I'm trying to do is to wake others up so they can consider their own choices & see how quickly everything that will ever really matter, which is your responsibility to appreciate life, YOUR life, can be erased in an instant, when you choose to dance with the devil & partake in his alluring intoxicants. He freely chose that path, & it cost 3 lives, not just his.
That is the real tragedy here.
But, as always, that's just my opinion! :(((
