      @@tamehamehaprints3604 How many times does Othani face the Giants this year? He might get up to 1/20th just from the giants. Giants have basically played 2 less games than most other teams but lead the league in strikeouts with 317.

    Normally with greatness haters are soon to follow, but with Ohtani you'll be hard-pressed to find someone hating on him. Not only is he a once-in a-lifetime player with extraordinary talent on both the mound and in the batter's box, but he's such a likable guy too. The whole baseball world is rooting for him!
    Not an Angels fan, but certainly a huge Ohtani fan, making the Angels my second favorite team after my Phillies.

      i like ohtani. i like trout also. however trount is not mantle and ohtnai will never be even close to the babe. you see if they had a dh back then the babe might of won 300 and 700 homers. ohtani in 10 years if he still pitches could win 175 games and hit 500 homers. that would be something. both seperate not great, but together it would be.

      ​@al bundy babe played in a segregated league. Babe played only 2 seasons as 2 way. No comparison about accomplishments. Ohtani is still going strong. He's a complete strong package

      There's a pretty sizable group of deniers who are really committed to saying Ohtani is "nowhere near" the best. They're the ones who keep bringing up Babe Ruth, as if he could even hit the ball or strike anyone out in today's game.

      I was at the Cardinals game tonight. We all showed out for Ohtani. People in line wearing Redbirds jerseys were saying “I wouldn’t mind if he did _____”. The influence is just ridiculous. Mad respect to Ohtani ✊

    Ohtani can finish 2023 with 17-20 wins, under 3 ERA, 250 Ks. .290 batting avg, 35 HR, 100 RBI. Any of those projections may be too conservative. We might be seeing the best season ever by any player ever. Stay healthy!!!

      Fellow Phillies fan here. Ohtani is 100% my favorite non-Philly player. Not only is he extremely talented but he's such a likable guy. I feel like the whole world wants him to succeed.

      it seems like every pitcher is striking out 10 batters per 6 innings. does not matter who it is. teams are bad this season. hitters are bad. cards in last, oakland is horrible.

    Ohtani is batting .307 and pitching to a 2.54 ERA, and with 13 Ks Shohei leads the majors in Ks now

    I know pitch count is now the norm, but I remember watching in Oct 7 1991 when David Cone threw 142 pitches to strickout 19 batters in a game, Ohtani had 13 Ks in 5 innings, if he would've gone the whole 9 innings he could've tied or set a major league record of Ks in a game.

    Absolutely fun to watch Shohei, Trout and MLB baseball. Shohei was so close to hitting for the cycle last week! I hope he gets a cycle soon!!

    Weird day for shohei. Strikes out 13 in just 5 innings (i think the two remaining outs were a caught stealing and a ground out), normally a 4 hit game would be fine but he also gave up 2 hrs and 4 runs. Couldnt quite get the W or the QS, despite striking out almost every batter he faced.
    Well at least he also went 3-5 on the plate with 1 R and 1 RBI

      so uhh some shohei stats so far: he now has a .307 BA with .365 on base and .553 slugging. he leads his team it BA, and second to trout on OPS, though i think he now leads the team in hits
      he still leads the team in the pitching side, with now a 2.54 ERA with an impressive 59 Ks in 39.0 innings pitched, for a 13.6K/9IP (i think that is the AL record for now)

      Not just a 5 hit game, but a 6 batted ball game with 1 walk. Pretty anomalous numbers. 5/6 batted balls being hits, and 4/6 being extra base hits is unlucky even if you happen to throw a few meatballs.

    Watching the game in Japan, I don't think I'm the only one, but I think a handful of Japanese fans felt joy and empathy of Shohei striking out of his new buddy in Nootbaar at the same time.

      Shohei is actually a three-way baseball player starting from this season.
      Don't forget Shohei is the fastest runner from home to 1st base (4.02sec) in MLB as well. And Shohei has 5 stolen bases now, he is the SB leader in Angels.
      Plus this season's new pitch-clock rule made Shohei taken half of a catcher's job, Shohei makes decisions of all the pitches and takes away half of the workloads and responsibility from the catcher. Yet Shohei never ask the catcher to share half of the catcher's payroll 😂.

    On this day on May 4 2018 Albert Pujols of the Angels got his 3,000 Hits, at the time the 4th player to get 3,000 Hits and 600 HRs (Albert ended up with 3,384 Hits & 703 HRs, only 2nd player to do it) and you can see a young rookie Goat Shohei Ohtani congratulating👏🏼 one of the all time great Albert Pujols, 2 of my favorite players
