I just want to see the look on the face of whoever happens to stumble upon this steampunk paradise in the middle of the desert that has all sorts of weird technology that shouldn't exist.
“You need more friends.” Facts though! 😂 Stopping by after what seems like ages (ha!) and glad you’re still posting. You helped give so much context and humor to my favorite game series as a kid, and I hope you and yours are doing well!
It's the frame counter from my video capturing software, it's not supposed to appear in the videos due to some kind of glitch it sometimes does in this game. I fixed this issue after part 13.
If you do NOT complete these wave forms and just turn around, then the story continues on normally. Like you said, this part is probably just to get the user used to the controls.
You know it only just occurred to me, but the Spire signal must have shorted the viewer out because of Sirrus' frequency bombs blowing the receiver out. Like, since his bombs were sound based the signal must have been far more than the Viewer could physically handle.
I love myst 4! When i was 10 my teacher would play it with us to help improve our creative writing skills. You know the little music that plays in one of the opening cut scenes, well me and my best friend Matthew we would like harmonize to the song and it was so funny. Though there are some swearing in one parts and creepy things - SPOILER ALERT!
I'm impressed with your knowledge of the the Myst series. These are my favorite games and I have the books as well. I'd like to try Uru online but I doubt anyone gets on it
@rahungry The journal you are referring to is a pad of paper in real life or on your computer that you write/type information on. That's how it was done in Riven and Myst I. =P
I thought the tapping thing was very useful! Sometimes it’s hard to tell what you’re looking at in these games, and the sound adds a nice hint about the type of material it is!
My guess about the camera and image viewer is that the Stranger made them himself using a combination of the knowledge he invariably gained from his long friendship with Atrus, and the technology and parts he could get his hands on where he lived.
I found that if it takes too long to adjust the signals for Spire, Atrus stops giving hints, and you're left on your own to solve it. This happened with my second play-through of the game--oh the diagrams I came up with! It took probably 40 minutes. Much later I found out that if you just keep turning away and refusing to do the puzzle, as pirbird14 said, the same thing happens anyway.
Your transition speeds are a lot quicker than mine, is there a way to fix it without having to reduce the resolution? (my comp specs are capable of running Battlefield 5 at its max settings)
after i got the water wheel going to connect power, after i came out,the walkway that connects, collapsed so i could'nt find my way back to the crystal viewer.
Wait... Catherine and Atrus decided to leave them trapped... at the time? At the time they were trapped, Catherine was in Riven and Atrus was in K'Veer. Catherine didn't even know about them until after the events of Riven! Gah, more bad writing!
You don't have to get this puzzle right. If you fiddle with the dials and then zoom out a couple of times, the viewer will still blow up and you can continue with the game.
Atrus: "The truth is, I need your help."
Me: "It's a Myst game. Of course you need my help."
"You know Atrus, I'm starting to understand why Sirrus and Achenar turned out the way they did"

Maybe it's D'ni technology built with 1800s Human equipment. Like the massive circuit-board on the DeLorean in Back to the Future 2.

It's still Rand Miller, just older and dressed differently. :-)
Huh, I never had problems with this puzzle. I never listened to what he said but instead just made it look like it should

I lost it at the "you need more friends"

I doubt that, since the explosion still happens even if you don't do the puzzle.
@@Inventure751 Atreus does it for you, actually!

lol that frequency puzzle drove me fuckng insane
It was literally the moment I yelled "fuck this game!" This felt like the farthest thing from a Myst game!

The camera is a Ki for the maintainers to deliver an image to the guilds before the the micro KI watch type yes
Not unless it's a high amperage conductor :)

This was the old disc version from the original release. That in all likelihood is why. The modern version is more taxing I bet.
The solar system might be that of Gravitation, an age Atrus wrote to test theories about planetary mass and orbit mechanics.
Have you tried moving the center dial yet? :/
@WorldChallenge You know, Shadyparadox is all done with his Myst III video. I just barely finished it today.
after i got the water wheel going to connect power, after i came out,the walkway that connects, collapsed so i could'nt find my way back to the crystal viewer.
I always had trouble with that second signal as well.
@Dilandau3000 You have an awesome accent! I love your videos, too.
@WorldChallenge I realize that, just letting you know it's done so you can go watch it now. =P
Awesome!
i love this game

Well they would have had a conversation about it when they got back from rivan.
try moving the slider...
Ok, but.... did you try moving the slider?

Rand Miller looks a bit like Hugh Laurie.

@WorldChallenge He finished it.
^^ why are you watching these videos then?
im playing this game in school
07:30 faster, faster..
Jesus fucking christ can you please go a bit slower, this is going way to fast for me
+karl magnus Strange... Most people say he spends too much time talking.
I love Myst games and everything, but I have to say, the actors in this one are pretty bad throughout.
