Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on RUclips, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on RUclips. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on RUclips, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

So sorry to say, still waiting for the 'Peace Train.' Many of us back in 1971 when this song came out believed that the 'Peace Train' was arriving in the station any day now. I'm literally crying 😭 remembering the hopes, dreams and optimism this song inspired. How could our country🇺🇸 & the 🌎world 🌍be covered in darker clouds now, more than ever before🤔

Subsequent generations cannot know what it felt like at the time for young people.
(But that’s fair: we can’t fully understand our parents either. It’s universal)
Because of the global cultural and creative explosions of the sixties, there was no reason NOT to think that peace was just as POSSIBLE as any other scenario (war is over if you want it)😊
I was 18 in 1972, in the 2nd row at a small concert in Miami, having eye contact with Cat Stevens.
If your heart is not closed, you may sometimes understand how it felt at the time, and how the love in this song would propel it to a generational anthem during wartime ❤

Ah, but later, Mr. Stevens decided there should be no peace at all for Salman Rushdie. Turns out he was in favor of violence if it was religiously motivated.
Perhaps the lesson there is not to let false prophets fill you with unwarranted expectations. Instead of passively waiting for that peace train, you kind of have to ask yourself, what did you do all this time to lay down the tracks for it? ;-]
I don't like his religion either. I liked his music before he went to Islam. It's not him personally I like that much. I can separate the music. That's why i still call him cat.@@robertcartier5088

Excellent. Cat Stevens, along with America, inspired me to take up the guitar in the early 70's. I've been playing and learning ever since. I'm all in on Cat Stevens.

Cat Stevens/Yusuf sung this song beautifully at a memorial in Christchurch, New Zealand, after an Australian gunman slaughtered 51 Muslims at prayer in March 2019.

Cat was one of those rare artists who tapped deep into the spiritual. His songs are about much more than the here and now...he definitely had his creative finger on the pulse of the eternal.

Love this song! Cat Stevens is a great singer songwriter with a very unique sounding voice. One of my first albums I ever bought was "Tea For The Tillerman". The whole album is great. So is the album "Teaser & The Firecat". He has had so many great songs in his career such as "Matthew & Son", "The First Cut Is The Deepest", "Wild World", "Oh Very Young", "Morning Has Broken", "Father & Son", "Moonshadow" etc. He is still recording & performing live & his voice still sounds great.
Such a personal song to me. I spent half my life working aboard passenger trains which I started in 1980. It was this song in 1971 that started the whispers into my ear about it.

Before the Peace Train there was “Friendship Train” by Gladys Knight and The Pips. The 1969 studio version is what you want. It starts with funky bass, cowbell and fuzzy guitar followed by horns and then the glorious of Gladys Knight. It is a song that will get you moving and has great message. Hit it!

This one got more air time back then than any of his other hits. Today you tend to hear FATHER AND SON more.
I saw him in 67 in UK with The Walker Brothers and Hendrix. Met him in London backstage in 72 when he was a superstar, lovely man with wonderful music.
Love Love Love Love Cat Stevens. His songs bring back wonderful memories of my childhood: comfort, joy, Mom, Dad, siblings, playing in the sun-kissed streams behind our house. I miss those days immensely.

There was a time when Cat was #1 on the charts. Great voice, good guitar player, excellent songs. I hope you listen to more. (Us guitar players also liked the fact that we could play his stuff and sound pretty good.)
One of my favourite songs, especially when he says everyone jump on the peace train, makes me shed a tear or two every time. "Remember the days of the old school yard" is another favourite, a wholesome song & relatable. Thank you.

Man, this song brings back such good memories of my childhood!!! I was six years old when this song came out, and my father would play Cat Stevens albums (along with Carol King, and others in that genre) Saturday mornings while he made us bacon and eggs and pancakes...our weekly treat! I grew up hearing such great music in our house!

I think I've learned every he's made on an album years ago. His chord patterns and rhythms are so unique. Alan Davies really added a lot too.

I remember this song as a kid playing on the car radio when my Mom would drive us to the grocery store or over to my Grandpa's house. I remember just liking the vibe so much.

Mighty grateful I was just starting high school when this train arrived. Though the peace train derailed and crashed, we had hope in the 70s and it was a great era to grow up in.
Yes Cat Stevens played the acoustic. His songs are absolutely wonderful to listen to. I am glad I listened to this music in my teens. "Wild World" is a good one! but there are many more!

Natalie Merchant's old band, 10,000 Maniacs did a fabulous cover of this song, and there is a cool video with it. Cat Stevens' song "O Caritas", mostly in Latin, is perhaps his most profound song. Pretty easy to learn too!

If you like this you will like "Desiderata" by Les Crane from the year 1971 also. Great Message to humanity.
If you liked the punkish ferocity of this one. I would highly suggest giving their song "Gun" which is super catchy on the melodic front married to a lyric that equates the ne'erdowell protagonist's once passionately full heart, now broken and depleted by the emotional damage of an unsupportave relationship to that of a loaded weapon that has been spent and out of ammo. Despite the rather harsh implications the song's title might concern the uninitiated, the lyrical slant of writing is actually much lighter and humorous than dark and scary and does not in any manner advocate or glorify real physical violence.

Sadly, because of his conversion and name change, he ended up on the no fly list and couldn't get a visa to visit the USA during the Iraq war after 9/11.

But no Peace Train for Salman Rushdie... in an interview on national television, Stevens advocated for the ritual murder of a British/American author just for writing a book he didn't like! A religious zealot with extremist tendencies... But he was also a brilliant songwriter! Takes all kinds, I guess! 🙄
