Poulenc is a genius and Liang Wang is a fabulous and balanced interpret. What a chance we can listen to something so beautiful and perfect. Gorgeous and divine.
This is the ultimate in Oboe playing! The sound sings and has that beautiful mix of weight an vibrancy.. Liang Wang’s expressive palate is so compelling and he just seems to get it right all the time whether in Orchestra or here in the most fabulous Poulenc Oboe Sonata I’ve encountered in years... This performance is just stunning👍🏾👏🏾
It must be an editing/splicing mistake, but he repeated the two measures right before circle 3 in the last movement. There is no repeat for those measures. Oops! I sure could listen to Liang's playing all day! His playing is imaginative and full of life!
I was not familiar with this piece until a friend suggested I listen. This strikes me as having the innovativeness of a modern piece with the listenability/accessibility of an impressionist one--you know, like Debussy. And I don't recall ever hearing oboe played so well. I'm not crazy about the sound of that instrument but this player makes it quite listenable. And the pianist does a beautiful job.
Hello, a wonderfull music it smells like france and your sound is perfectly light and warm i found your name with the läubin oboes from NY, you play this sonata with an läubin oboe?
I have never used a mute on this piece but my oboe teacher and I made mutes our of a piece of thick toilet paper with a rubber band to keep it rolled and to hold it in the bell of the oboe. My money is on no mute, simply great reeds and chops. Do you know how difficult it is to slip a mute into your bell quickly, like between breaths? Try it sometime....
This is one of the nicest recordings of the Poulenc on the internet. Beautiful

EASILY my favorite sonata. Both to hear and play , and Liang does a SUPERBE job !!!
wow!!! what breath control he has. beautiful playing, with thoughtful dynamics and vibrato! this is how poulenc would have wanted it to sound.
You wonder if his oboe is made of silk! Equally expressive piano; the combination is superb!
Easily my favorite recording of my favorite oboe piece ever! I got to play the 1st movement recently and I wish I made it sound this great!
Maybe the most beautiful oboe playing I've ever heard
I am so proud (and humbled) to have worked with you to make this extraordinary recording happen. Glad you posted it!
Beautiful, consistent, and thoughtful vibrato. Gorgeous.
Vibrato is good, but too continuous. A beautiful vibrato like this is worth waiting for at times. Otherwise a truly magical performance.
Both Liang Wang and Pascal Rogé are stupendous !

とても優しい音。恋を思い出させるコード感とフレーズ。
Dreamfull for an oboe learner....

Lovely performance - and perhaps my favorite Poulenc piece too. It just sounds so... French!
Beautiful playing!

Lovely
I was wondering have you played on a Légère reed already and did you like playing it?
音色醇美
How do you get the second statement of the piano low B-flat phrase to sound that way in the third movement? Do you have a mute in your oboe?
