Still amazingly brilliant after many years - unbelievable progressions....
Brilliant song!
Now that’s a work of genius! How could anyone write such a gorgeously complex song ?
It should be taught at art schools as a rock classic
Ed’s brilliance and some really accomplished musicians
Thanks . Ed would bring a cassette of chords & structure & we rehearsed every day to bring it all to life .
Great mini album, bought it at the record shop at Warriewood Square when i was working at Coles after school :)
A manic waltz of the resolute outsider - still mind warping!
I WANT TO SCREAM
Under starlight shining white
I want to scream alone tonight
The shadows talk of childish things
That lay around my careful home
Conversation stops dead in the dead of the day
Not quite sure if I like it that way
No more rumours around town now
Check on the time it hasn’t changed
Tables and chairs are still arranged
I try to think of past events
A childhood love that was heaven sent
But it’s not
Face contorts a rubber mask
But I’m well matched up to the farce
The windows allow a cruel blue light
I close my eyes, the light’s too bright
Phone doesn’t ring, no intrusion from outside
Wall paper shapes just a bit too bold
Turn away from the wall now
Check on the time it hasn’t changed
Tables and chairs are still arranged
I try to think of past events
A childhood love that was heaven sent
But it’s not
Under starlight shining white
I want to scream alone tonight
The shadows talk of childish things that are done for
My face bends like a rubber mask
I believe I’m well matched up to the farce
But the lights in my eyes are cruel and blue
That will do me
Don’t look out or beyond
Calm in this my traitor’s death
Cold and empty like the bells
Now there’s nothing left to sell
That will do me
Thanks.
I have this on their first EP. It’s a classic. The Clowns were so different, so special. I saw them live in 1979 and didn’t know what to make of them, brought the EP, and after listening with a lot of cones, I realised that their music was meant to be different , almost disjointed, but so enjoyable.
So bummed that my copy mysteriously disappeared. I loved that ep so much! Saw them play lots in the early days. Amazing gigs.
unique and timeless !
this is great music..................
I can really appreciate that...do the same thing, not same locale, but music with scenic back-drops a joint or two, excellent way to feel and be.
aaaaahhhh....quarter century since I lost this record and have had to rely on playing it in my head
I lost mine too 😢
That Norwegian TV show you uploaded...I'm just blown away,LOL.
Please upload Mr Uddich Schmuddich Goes to Town - so good!
An absolute, compacted hothouse monster, I swear to the gods of rock, this archetype could have appeared alongside "Day Tripper" and "Paint It Black" and been a third, darker force. Yes. Unfortunately however, only the first part of the song is fantastic, then it loses focus! Recommended compatriots: "Swing for The Crime", "The Prisoner", "In The Mirror", "Sea Air", "Treeless Plain", "My Houdini."
Almost spot on. Almost!
Magnifique
I can’t find those last three songs, who are they by?
@@JacqueBruce0 "Sea Air" song by Ed Kuepper, "Treeless Plain" 1983 album by The Triffids, "My Houdini" 1981 album by Tactics. Loved your bass on Disraeli Gears BTW.
@@Meandgenevieve Thank you, Eric always gave me shit for The Clearout so I kept it for my first solo record (as if he could do any better) I just wish we could’ve given it that Cream studio sheen but at least there’s a demo of it.
A Haunting quality
@thelyran I'll see what I can do. One can't have enough Laughing Clowns on RUclips. Don't want the suits from Prince Melon to put a lawsuit out on my page, so I have to tread carefully... Hope you're well Jason.
Reminds me of the love of my life after four and more years of facing off with the murder groups of Sydney, bastard descendants of the push against the Joh Bjelke fascists of the 1970s, The Birthday Party, The Saints, and so on.
Sounds like you had some fun😉! "the murder groups of Sydney" is a great phrase.
One of the best songs ever gets 18 likes? Go figure.

Excellent Mr D,but would you be so kind to do,Law Of Nature, that would be excellent and if youi're really inspired,Eating Off The Floor as well, thankyou sir and look forward to more videos,Jason.
Anyone know where I can get a download (or a recording/cd/whatever that doesn't cost like millions) of In Front Of Your Eyes? I've been on various 'rarities' sites which direct me to it and then it disappears or somehow there's no way of reaching the actual song... I'm tearing my hear out... thanks.
Sophia Dale what if I were to upload it to RUclips?
Any more from the first ep? 🙏
Every track a jewel.
@uddichschmuddich ROFL,yeah,I forget about infringements, more concerned getting the music out.Thankyou I'm well, but in the same shit as we met back in 2004.Check this out,Webanarchy,Taree Police their fun and games by Billy Ruben, you'll understand.A very good new year to you sir, regards,Jason.
