bought this masterpiece of black vinyl when it was released a hundred years or so ago. thank you Bruce at the world famous Record Stop Record Shop when it was located in Lake Ronkonkoma on Long Island. much love to Joe Papa. how are you settling in in heaven.

C’est comme si l’on entrait dans un de ces palaces d’Europe centrale à l’architecture pâtissière style
religieuse au chocolat. Dans chaque pièce où l’on pénètre, les individus sont habillés en noir et blanc des pieds à la tête. Ils ont cette étrange absence dans les yeux tout en vous regardant fixement. Les plafonds sont peints, le mobilier d’un luxe indescriptible et le marbre veiné des tables reflète l’évanescente sérénité de l’endroit ! Tout y est rigide, jusqu’au temps qui s’écoule derrière les lambris, comme aux aguets. Orgue rampant, piano translucide, frémissement des cymbales. Le cliquetis des cordes de la guitare répond au chant haut perché et sautillant de la basse. Un hautbois dialogue avec le basson surgissant d’un avenir improbable, pendant qu’en arrière-plan s’élèvent des oscillations métalliques et glaciales. Brusquement alors, cette voix féminine superbe et grave qui chante la clarté lunaire éclairant des bannières ondulantes au beau milieu d’une armée bigarrée…So british ! le syndrome d’Alice au Pays des Merveilles. L’absurde accouplé à la magie pour l’imminent départ vers un univers dont certains ne sont pas encore revenus et dont certains encore, rêvent dans les tréfonds de leur subconscient ....

What we listen to in purgatory, while spooning frosted flakes to the pet alligators in the bathtub.
By far superior to other versions/recordings of this particular bit of stuff, yet still live. Seems that the musicians, Dagmar, and especially recorders/mixers were working together more than at other times. But no surprise. Recorded 18 August 1975 in the BBC Maida Vale studio for Peel Sessions; recorded and mixed by Bob Conduct and Tony Wilson.
i watched the whole western culture album a couple of weeks ago but i can't find it now. gotta get some of their stuff.

I don't like comparing this band to others
But this heavily reminds of artists like Frank Zappa and Neu!
Whilst I was listening to bands like Gong, I somehow managed to overlook Henry.....so my IQ must be lower even than Jonathan's.....jeez what a miss I missed, great band if somewhat highbrow.
both bands are two of my favourites! Always a pleasure to listen to!!
